In this study, we present a novel method for `peg-in-hole' assembly using a multi-joint three-fingered gripper. In previous studies, we have conducted peg-in-hole assembly based on spiral search method, not knowing the exact hole position. However, search time varies greatly depending on the error between the peg and the hole, it was difficult to estimate tact time of the assembly task. In this paper, in order to reduce the search time deviation of the hole, we propose a method that estimating the direction of the hole first before conducting the search motion. direction of the hole is estimated by `kinesthetic sensing' using the fingers grasping the peg. The feasibility of the proposed method has been verified through peg-in-hole assembly experiments using the three-fingeredrobot gripper.

In Iron Core Motors, there are two types of ripple - i.e. position dependent, current dependent parasitic forces. One is only marginally dependent on current (the detent force) and the other is linear with current. Clearly, for formulating accurate detent force models for the purpose of successfully utilizing parametrized Feed Forward techniques it will be crucial to independently determine both fractions of the total ripple. A technique is presented which accomplishes this, both in simulation and in measurement. The potential benefit for a parametrized Feed Forward system is illustrated.

The paper presents the influence of relative electrode-electrolyte movement over productivity for silver ions recovery by electrodeposition from diluted solutions. Wasted photographic fixing agent solution in various concentrations was used. For each concentration three regimes were studied: stationary, electrode rotation with 100 rpm and electrode rotation with 300 rpm. Polarization curves were drawn and working conditions from silverrecovery point of view were discussed.

Several benchmark studies in eddy currents have been proposed by the WFNdEC. Also, there are many analytical exact and approximate solution of interest to quantitatively evaluate the capability of numerical codes to predict the magnitude of the induced currents effects. In this paper we present the results obtained using COMSOL for a representative set of cases of interest. We analyze the accuracy of the results, but also the elements we believe are relevant from the perspective of the NdE specialist (simplicity, computerrequirements, things to take into account to get goodresults, problems faced when solving, failures, etc.).

α-Glucosidases are important enzymes with a broad spectrum of industrial applications. However, traditional protein engineering often struggles to improve activity without compromising stability and usually demands extensive screening. Here, we targeted the α-glucosidase (AG) from Geobacillus stearothermophilus (Gst), using in silico analyses and literature precedent to select point mutations N61H and N258P. We cloned the mutated gstAG gene into the pET-28a(+) vector and expressed in Escherichia coli . After expressing and purifying both wild-type and mutant enzymes, we performeddetailed biochemical assays. Both mutants maintained GstAG's optimum temperature (60 °C) and pH (6.5). However, each displayed enhanced catalytic efficiency: N61H lowered the Michaelis constant ( K ₘ) by 1.5-fold andraised the turnover number ( k cat ) by 1.7-foldrelative to the wild type. These results offer a blueprint for engineering α-glucosidases with improved performance, unlocking new commercial and biotechnological applications.
