An 8-channel hybrid-integrated chip for 200 Gb/s(8×25 Gb/s)signal transmission has been *** channels are all within the O-band,and with a spacing of 800 *** core of this chip is a monolithic integrated multi-wavelength laser array of 8 directly-modulated distributed feedback(DFB)*** using the reconstruction equivalent chirp technique,multi-wavelength integration and asymmetric phase shift structures are achieved in the laser *** output laser beams of the array are combined by a planar light-wave circuit,which is hybrid-integrated with the laser array by photonic wire *** results of this transmitter chip show good single-mode working of each unit laser,with a sidemode suppression ratio above 50 dB,and the modulation bandwidth is above 20 *** eye diagrams are obtained in the lasers for 25 Gb/s non-return-to-zero modulation,which implies a total 200 Gb/s transmission rate for the whole chip.

Mixing performance in reactors producing biogas through anaerobic digestion is one of the parameters that directly affect biogas yield. The most commonly used mixing model for bioreactors in biogas-production processes is mechanical mixing. In the present study, we focus on the geometry of the tank, where the mechanical mixing actually takes place. In this context, by using the six-blade standard Rushton impeller in two different types of tank, flow patterns involving velocity, dead zone volume, turbulent kinetic energy, and turbulent eddy dissipation rate in the angular velocity range of 25–100 rpm were observed, and the possible effects of the results on biogas production were interpreted. A new impeller design was proposed that maximizes the interface between the fluid inside the reactor tank and the impeller, which has the potential to reduce the dead zone volume to significantly lower levels. Our results showed that the lowest dead zone volume was achieved for a 60° slope reactor tank compared to the conventional 90° slope reactor tank at an angular velocity of 100 rpm. The dead zone volume decreased to 0.000094 m3 at 100 rpm in the 60° slope reactor tank with a total volume of 0.0305 m3, which by comparison was 0.000374 m3 in the 90° slope reactor tank. The magnitudes of both maximum turbulent kinetic energy and maximum turbulent eddy dissipation were higher in the 60° slope reactor tank at all angular velocities examined, which would be expected to enhance mixing performance. It is hoped that the reader will benefit from the results of this study;however, further studies should be conducted on the use of actual biowaste as the working fluid instead of water. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Multitasking requires rapid switching of attention and cognitive resources between different tasks in a dynamic environment, relying on cognitive processes, such as working memory, executive control, and selective attention. Although studies have investigated the efficacy of various neurobehavioral interventions in improving multitasking capabilities, the effects of longitudinal anodal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in enhancing multitasking performance have not been investigated. This research investigated the efficacy of 1mA anodal tDCS administered longitudinally on multitasking performance. 42 participants were randomly and equally divided into the experimental and placebo control conditions in this study conducted for 10 days. All participants executed two multitasking tasks on day 1 and received 1mA anodal/placebo tDCS during task training from day 2 to day 8. Various behavioral and neurophysiological measures have been measured. The findings revealed that tDCS had the propensity to augment multitasking capabilities in the trained task but had limited transfer capabilities. EEG-based brain connectivity analysis also revealed the formation of network hubs in the prefrontal and frontal regions, indicating enhanced cortical activation in the beta band. We intend to use these findings to design interventional frameworks to enhance multitasking performance using tDCS.

The choice of a type of combustion technology to be used for heat or power generation depends on economic,technical,operational and fuel availability *** benefits associated with the evolving market driven by the fluidised bed combustion(FBC)technology cannot be overlooked especially when gauged at 65 GWth of worldwide installed capacity alongside added benefits of handling fuel variation,low pollutant emissions and high combustion *** or biomass waste will continue to have a vital role to play in the future FBC technology-based power *** often contains high levels of inorganic species that can form sticky agglomerates posing a significant risk to boiler operation resulting in unscheduled *** added complexity of the behaviour of the fuel and bed material mix highlights the requirement for simulation models to identify agglomeration to help improve the overall performance and reliability of FBC *** resolve this problem,this research devised a simulation strategy for the detection of agglomeration using the Eulerian–Eulerian *** developed modelling strategy is validated with the experimental data available in literature for two-dimensional simplified geometry of a pilot-scale fluidised bed *** model results were found promising and robust to predict bed defluidisation times and other parameters consistent with the experimental data.

In this article the existence as well as the uniqueness (EU) of the solutions for nonlinear multiorder fractional-differential equations (FDE) with local boundary conditions and fractional derivatives of different orders (Caputo and Riemann-Liouville) are covered. The existence result is derived from Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem and its uniqueness is shown using the Banach contraction mapping principle. This paper presents an inductive measuring system using a two-pancake coil setup for monitoring the electromagnetic properties of steel sheets. An experimental setup was developed to perform measurements on cooling sheet metal samples during real structural transformations. Additional to the experiments with hot steel sheets, a simulation in COMSOL Multiphysics was used to validate the measurement results. The experiments conducted with the cooling material confirmed the suitability of the measurement system for the application described. The results obtained in this work show that by evaluating the phase shift between the exciting magnetic field H and the induction B, the structural transformation can be reliably monitored. In this work, a phase shift of 2 degrees was measured when a steel sheet was cooled by about 200 degrees Celsius.

This paper presents the results of a preliminary investigation for the development of an inductive sensor system for in-situ measurements in hot rolling mill steel wire production. The developed system should monitor the surface layer of the wire concerning changes in the microstructural composition using magnetic property evaluation. The sensor consists of two surrounding coils and evaluates a measure related to the slope of the commutation curve around the origin of the coordinate system This presented preliminary investigation discussed, whether the evaluation of the AC commutation curve under nonnegligible eddy currents is suitable to distinguish between two different microstructures. In addition, it was investigated, whether the measurement concept remains valid under plant conditions with high temperatures up to 600 °C. Within this work, two samples of 17 mm diameter and 175 mm length with different microstructural compositions could be distinguished under laboratory conditions at room temperature and in high-temperature experiments. The results could be plausibilized using the virgin magnetization curve in COMSOL Multiphysics, which was modified to model the magnetic behavior of the material for higher temperatures.

With recent improvements in deep-learning architectures and availability of GPU hardware, state of the art deep learning (DL) has already manifested as powerful image processing technology in the clinical routine to provide segmentation results of high accuracy. As a drawback, it's black-box nature does not naturally feature inspection and post-processing by medical experts. We present a Graph segmentation (GS) approach that derives it's fitness function from arbitrary DL results in a generic way. To allow for efficient and effective post-processing by the medical experts, various interaction paradigms are presented and evaluated in this paper. The trade-off of GS compared to the initial DL results is marginal (delta JI= 0.196%), yet potential DL segmentation errors can be corrected in a reliable way. The intuitive approach shows a high level of both, inter and intra user reproducibility. Change propagation of corrected slices keeps the demand for user-interaction to a minimum when successfully correction potential weaknesses in the DL segmentations. Thereby, the formerly error-prone slice mini-batches get corrected in an automated way with the JI being significantly increased. © 2021 The Authors.

Introduction: Nursing education traditionally teaches skill acquisition in isolated practice drills and guided by step-by-step protocols. While these approaches may seem to provide a solid foundation, they do not adequately bridge the gap between a controlled learning environment and the reality of nursing practice. The constraints-led approach (CLA) is an applied theory, which explains that skill acquisition is a process of adjusting to the characteristics of a situation, instead of reproducing isolated, “ideal” movements out of context. Given that CLA has gained recognition as an effective learning method in various fields, it is worth investigating how CLA can be implemented for skill acquisition in nursing education. Methods: To gain insight into student experiences of several CLA-exercises, an explorative qualitative design was used. Ten longitudinal focus groups with nursing students (n = 11) were performed to gain deeper understanding of students' experiences with an education course in which several “CLA-exercises” were integrated. In addition, the teachers (n = 3) involved were interviewed after the course was completed. Results: The students experienced the education course as enjoyable, challenging and reality-based. Also, the exercises motivated students to keep practicing. The students further appreciated the room for autonomy and self-organization. The teachers expressed enthusiasm for CLA-inspired education, noting the benefits of varied methods and the need for expert feedback and well-working practice materials. Conclusion: Both students and teachers felt confident that the students who completed this course were ready to apply the learned skills under supervision in clinical practice. © 2025

The primary challenge in in-memory photonic computing lies in achieving high-precision weight control, which enables efficient parallel multiply accumulate (MAC) operations and enhances computing accuracy. Due to environmental factors like temperature fluctuations, achieving accurate weight control in photonic computing becomes challenging. To address the aforementioned issue, our solution involves an integrated array of semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) as photonic synapses, forming a programmable weight bank. We have designed and fabricated a monolithically integrated 8-channel DFB-SOA chip, which demonstrates a remarkable record-high precision of 9.2 bits for weight control.
