Spray-pyrolysis synthesis of CuMnO₂ with the potential for photoelectrocatalysis

Amidst the global endeavor toward sustainable energy sources, photocatalysis appears as a promising gateway toward the production of solar fuels, in particular hydrogen. Hydrogen is currently a crucial reagent for vital industries such as petrol desulfurization, iron reduction and ammonia production, so the decarbonization of its production is a major challenge. CuMnO₂ (CMO), a p-type semiconductor, has been shown to enhance the efficiency of catalysts such as TiO₂ for the photoelectrocatalytic water splitting reaction. However, since pure CMO thin films have never been reported, its potential and limitations remain elusive. We used spray pyrolysis as a low-cost synthesis technique to simplify and accelerate the synthesis of CMO thin films directly on FTO substrates. CMO prepared in this manner exhibits activity toward photoeletrocatalytic water splitting and O₂ reduction. The activity has been found to be highly dependent on synthesis conditions, especially on the ratio and volume of precursors. © 2024 The Chemical Society Located in Taipei & Wiley-VCH GmbH.

We report on an extensive study of the viscosity of liquid water at near-ambient conditions,performed within the Green-Kubo theory of linear response and equilibrium ab initio molecular dynamics(AIMD),based on density-functional theory(DFT).In order to cope with the long simulation times necessary to achieve an acceptable statistical accuracy,our ab initio approach is enhanced with deep-neural-network potentials(NNP).This approach is first validated against AIMD results,obtained by using the Perdew–Burke–Ernzerhof(PBE)exchange-correlation functional and paying careful attention to crucial,yet often overlooked,aspects of the statistical data ***,we train a second NNP to a dataset generated from the Strongly Constrained and Appropriately Normed(SCAN)*** the error resulting from the imperfect prediction of the melting line is offset by referring the simulated temperature to the theoretical melting one,our SCAN predictions of the shear viscosity of water are in very good agreement with experiments.

Monolayer C5N: A Promising Building Block for the Anode of K-Ion Batteries

Intercalation-type batteries based on the alkali metal K, an earth-abundant element, are attracting increasing attention as alternatives to Li-ion batteries. However, the lack of a high-performance anode limits the success of K-ion batteries. Here, we study the performance of monolayer C5N as a potential building block for the anode. Our theoretical data show that the metallic monolayer can accommodate 2.25 K atoms per formula unit, which corresponds to a specific capacity of 814 mA h g−1, and provides a low diffusion barrier of only 0.11 eV. The volume change of bulk C5N (47%) is found to be smaller than that of graphite (61%; commercial anode material). These predictions will serve the design of future anode materials for K-ion batteries.

Two-dimensional transition metal nitrides offer intriguing possibilities for achieving novel electronic and mechanical functionality owing to their distinctive and tunable bonding characteristics compared to other 2D materials. We demonstrate here the enabling effects of strong bonding on the morphology and functionality of 2D tungsten nitrides. The employed bottom-up synthesis experienced a unique substrate stabilization effect beyond van-der-Waals epitaxy that favored W5N6 over lower metal nitrides. Comprehensive structural and electronic characterization reveals that monolayer W5N6 can be synthesized at large scale and shows semimetallic behavior with an intriguing indirect band structure. Moreover, the material exhibits exceptional resilience against mechanical damage and chemical reactions. Leveraging these electronic properties and robustness, we demonstrate the application of W5N6 as atomic-scale dry etch stops that allow the integration of high-performance 2D materials contacts. These findings highlight the potential of 2D transition metal nitrides for realizing advanced electronic devices and functional interfaces. © 2023 American Chemical Society

The substitution box,often known as an S-box,is a nonlinear component that is a part of several block *** purpose is to protect cryptographic algorithms from a variety of cryptanalytic assaults.A Multi-Criteria Decision Making(MCDM)problem has a complex selection procedure because of having many options and criteria to choose *** of this,statistical methods are necessary to assess the performance score of each S-box and decide which option is the best one available based on this *** the Pythagorean Fuzzy-based Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution(TOPSIS)method,the major objective of this investigation is to select the optimal S-box to be implemented from a pool of twelve key *** the help of the Pythagorean fuzzy set(PFS),the purpose of this article is to evaluate whether this nonlinear component is suitable for use in a variety of encryption *** this article,we have considered various characteristics of S-boxes,including nonlinearity,algebraic degree,strict avalanche criterion(SAC),absolute indicator,bit independent criterion(BIC),sum of square indicator,algebraic immunity,transparency order,robustness to differential cryptanalysis,composite algebraic immunity,signal to noise ratio-differential power attack(SNR-DPA),and confusion coefficient variance on some standard S-boxes that are Advanced Encryption Following this,the findings of the investigation are changed into Pythagorean fuzzy numbers in the shape of a *** matrix is then subjected to an analysis using the TOPSIS method,which is dependent on the Pythagorean fuzzy set,to rank the most suitable S-box for use in encryption applications.

Progressive amyloid-β (Aβ) fibrillar aggregates have long been considered as the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Biocompatible and stable cysteine-Aβ peptide-conjugated gold nanoparticles (Cys-Aβ@AuNP) are demonstrated as suitable materials for detecting subfemtomolar Aβ peptides in human plasma. Incubation with Aβ peptides causes the Cys-Aβ@AuNP to aggregate and changes its absorption spectra. The spectral change is especially apparent and noticeable when detecting subfemtomolar Aβ peptides, and the aggregates contain only two or three AuNPs. Cys-Aβ@AuNP can also be used to identify early-stage Aβ oligomerization, which is not possible using the conventional method, in which the fluorescence of thioflavin-T is measured. The ability to detect Aβ oligomerization can facilitate therapeutics for AD. In addition, the binding of Aβ peptides by Cys-Aβ@AuNP in combination with centrifugation redirects the conventional Aβ aggregation pathway and can effectively inhibit the formation of toxic Aβ oligomers or fibrils. Therefore, the proposed Cys-Aβ@AuNP can also be used to develop effective therapeutic agents to inhibit Aβ aggregation. The results obtained in this study are expected to open revolutionary ways to both detect and inhibit Aβ aggregation at an early stage. © 2024 American Chemical Society

With the increasing frequency of extreme weather events and natural disasters, insurance providers around the world are facing enormous challenges. This study addresses insurance claims resulting from these disasters by developing a comprehensive disaster insurance risk assessment model, focusing on Japan, a country prone to frequent earthquakes. The model integrates a Catastrophe Model, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), and an expert scoring method to optimize the risk assessment and compensation process for historic buildings. The results show that the model has strong predictive power, which provides valuable insights for insurance companies, policymakers, and urban planners in mitigating the impact of disasters and protecting cultural heritage.

Sasirangan cloth is one of the traditional cloths owned by Indonesia and is a typical cloth originating from the province of South Kalimantan. This Sasirangan cloth has many motifs and is unique. Sasirangan cloth is also one of the potentials that can attract local and foreign tourists to visit South Kalimantan. However, in recent years, tourist visits to South Kalimantan have decreased due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then it also has an impact on the delay in the implementation of the Banjarmasin Sasirangan Festival which is usually held annually. The next impact is a decrease in turnover and interest in shopping for Sasirangan cloth, so that employees who work for Sasirangan cloth craftsmen are dismissed and reduce people's income. So the purpose of this study is to report the results of the development of a Virtual Reality Game application called VR-SasiranganKu by integrating the interaction of Non-Player Character (NPC) behavior with the type of narrative in the simulation genre game. VR-SasiranganKu is recommended to introduce and at the same time promote Sasirangan cloth to users, then justify the reaction to knowledge and shopping experience, and evaluate user experience using the UX Honeycomb method. Respondents involved as many as 100 people who are local and national tourists. The results show that the interaction of NPC behavior can provide good direction to users regarding the introduction of Sasirangan cloth by presenting an appropriate interaction design based on the narrative and the theme of the NPC that has been adopted, the results of justification using VR-SasiranganKu can provide knowledge reaction and very good shopping experience, and based on user experience evaluation that VR-SasiranganKu has adopted a very good UX with an average score of 4.91. © 2022 IEEE.
