Wastewater produced by batik industry in Cibelok Village, Pemalang that is disposed straight into the sewage will increase the concentration of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), ammonia (NH3), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), watercolour, acidity (pH), and dissolved oxygen (DO). Disposed batik wastewater without treatment will contaminate the environment, mainly its water and soil. The main purpose of this research is to reduce the concentration of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), ammonia (NH3), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), watercolour, acidity, and dissolved oxygen (DO) by treating batik Cibelok's waste and not contaminate the surrounding environment. Laboratory test results on batik waste in COD, BOD, DO, ammonia, chromium, lead, colour, and acidity (pH). These results are not in accordance with the 2014 Waste Water Quality Standard Number 5 by the Regulation of the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia. Alternatives that have been done to treat Cibelok Village's batik waste is to lower dangerous substances concentration through electrocoagulation and filtration. The processes could lower COD level around 57.6%, ammonia 98%, chromium 85%, and BOD 67%. Reducing the concentration of the substance makes the batik waste safer and environmentally friendly when it's finally disposed to the sewage. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd.

This research is a preliminary study on the use of sago midrib as an acoustic material. This study aims to determine the sago as acoustic material by measuring the absorption coefficient using (impedance tube method) of 100 Hz-1.6 KHz frequencies. The results of measurement were analyzed and compared with common acoustic material available on market as reference. From the measurement of the sago midrib composite, absorption coefficient has fluctuated from low to high frequencies as the absorption coefficient of reference material is found to be more stable. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Prebiotics are dietary fiber components that cannot be digested by the human gastrointestinal tract but can be selectively fermented by bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, prebiotics provides health effects for humans. The specificity of prebiotics is determined by the bacteria that are specifically capable of fermenting the prebiotic substrate. The characteristics of prebiotic substrate need to be investigated in-vitro and in-vivo to determine the function and effectiveness of the substrate as a prebiotic. The prebiotic production process must be able to keep the prebiotic components stable. Raffinose is an oligosaccharide that has potential as a prebiotic. This article will discuss raffinose chemical structure, degrading enzymes, and health benefits as a prebiotic. Raffinose consists of 3 monomers, namely α-D-galactose, α-D-glucose, and α-D-fructose. Substrates containing raffinose-family oligosaccharides (RFOs) are the source of raffinose. Those substrates can be degraded to raffinose by the α-1,6-galactosidase. Raffinose can increase the growth of lactic acid bacteria, suppress the growth of pathogenic bacteria, increase short-chain fatty acids (SCFA), reduce constipation, inhibit the formation of putrefactive compounds from protein, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Fishing can be done in various ways, including by utilizing lights as fishing tools. The lights used for fishing tools are varied, ranging from torch lights, pressure paraffin lamp, fluorescent lamps (TL, PL, SL, CFL), mercury, and various types of led. However, light transition between one colors to another often scares the fish, driving them out of catchable area shocked by the color change. One solution to address this problem is by smoothly switching the color of the lamp using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) system on the microcontroller. The color used are the lamp with basic colors of red, green and blue. With power capacity of 50Watt/12Volt, this lamp is classified as High Power Led (HPL) lamp. The light can be free-adjusted, where each lamp can be turned on by its own light or can also be turned on in combination. It can slowly be switch on from an off position to maximum and also can be dimmed from maximum to off. Thus the intensity of the light can be controlled. The HPL and control sections were created separately. Tools and materials used are consist of push-button, microcontroller, optocoupler, mosfet and Red, Green and Blue HPL, Radio-meter (ILT5000 Research Radiometer), Voltmeter, and Amperemeter. The method used was experimental in both laboratory and field. The result of research is in the form of RGB HPL lamp which can be adjusted through control system, such as adjusment for each lamp, or light combination with smooth color transition. Thus, when this technology is applied as fishing tool in liftnet fishing, the targeted fish would still remain on catchable area. © 2020 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This study presents an investigation of chemical and physical characterization, green process analysis, techno-economic considerations, and carbon emissions for synthesizing metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) from plastic and can waste using microwave-assisted synthesis. The microwave-assisted synthesis proves to be more cost-effective, with a reduction in CO₂ emissions by up to 80%. The synthesized material (MIL-Mw-U) demonstrates excellent performance in methylene blue (MB) removal, achieving 98.41% removal, with 97.87% removal although the catalyst is used in the third cycle. The adsorption of methylene blue (MB) onto MIL-Mw-U achieved a maximum capacity of 295.26 mgg⁻¹ at pH 3 and decreased to 258.68 mgg⁻¹ at pH 11 due to OH⁻ competition. The Langmuir isotherm (R² = 0.9381) and pseudo-second-order kinetics (R² = 0.999) confirmed monolayer chemisorption as the dominant mechanism. This innovative approach supports circular economy principles by converting can and plastic bottle waste into functional material for dye removal, offering sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. © 2025 The Authors

Lighting design is one of the priorities in designing buildings. Natural lighting can reduce energy consumption in buildings. Aesthetic levels are the basis of the planning concept, but need to pay attention to the concept of using natural lighting, in order to realize the energy-efficient building design. The purpose of the study was to determine how the level of illuminance affects the opening area, depth of space and height of the building. Quantitative research method is to analysis statistical data from measurements of illuminance levels in space. The results of the study concluded that the level of illuminance in the meeting room of the Center of Technology building in Hasanuddin University exceeded the illuminance standard. The extent of openings in the building envelope affects the illuminance level in space. Natural light distribution affects the height of the building's floor and the depth of space. Based on this conclusion, it is expected that in designing a building it is necessary to pay attention to the building facade, so that the distribution of natural light is not too high into the building and to avoid negative effects such as glare, high brightness and contrast. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The preparation method of cellulose films plays a vital role in their properties. This work aims to characterize 2, 2, 6, 6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO)-oxidized bacterial cellulose powder (TOBCP) films prepared with three different methods (casting, boiling-casting, and boiling-vacuum). It is found that film by casting (CT film) shows the best electrical properties. A light-emitting diode (LED) in a direct current circuit connected to the CT film glows the most brightly. However, this film had lower tensile strength and thermal stability than films from boiling and boiling-vacuum techniques. The boiling-vacuum film presents the most compact fiber structure and the highest tensile and thermal properties. This film also shows the lowest electrical properties and the dimmest LED light. These results demonstrate the TOBCP properties from different methods that can be used to prepare film with desirable properties. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Rhinacathin nasutus, commonly found in the tropical regions of Africa and Asia, has demonstrated a range of pharmacological effects, including anticancer, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-Alzheimer, anti-tumor, anti-Parkinson, and hypolipidemic activities. However, reports on how its secondary metabolites inhibit α-glucosidase are scarce. The phytochemical investigation on the stems of Rhinacathin nasuthus resulted in the isolation and identification of a new compound (1) together with nine known metabolites (2−10). Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques, mass spectrometry and literature values. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined through NOESY data analysis and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) spectroscopy. All isolated compounds were tested for their yeast α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, exhibiting moderate to good activity. Notably, compounds (3), (4), and betulin (8) showed potent activity toward α-glucosidase with IC50 values of 10.8, 18.6, and 6.5 µM, respectively (the positive control, acarbose, IC50 93.63 μM). This study marks the first investigation of α-glucosidase activity for compounds 3 and 4. Therefore, these compounds were chosen for kinetic studies, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics to understand their mechanism. The results from both in vitro and in silico studies suggest that compounds 3 and 4 could be promising candidates for further research in the development of new α-glucosidase inhibitors. © 2024, The Authors. The increasing demand for cement in the world of construction can have an extraordinary effect, especially in the production of cement which produces CO2. So we need an alternative material as a substitute and even replace the role of cement. Utilization of coal waste in the form of fly ash is in the spotlight to be maximized. Therefore this research was conducted as an alternative contribution to the solution using geopolymer concrete in terms of setting time and compressive strength with variations in the addition of cement. The method used is experimental in the laboratory which produces qualitative data for further numerical calculations. Tests focused on the setting time and compressive strength of concrete using 5 mix designs with cement variations ranging from 10%, 20%, 30%, 40% of the use of fly ash. The results of the setting time with the highest duration, namely 100% FA=1.5, 95 minutes initial setting time and 225 minutes final setting time, then decreased to the lowest duration, namely 60% FA: Pc 40%=1.5. The initial setting time is 15 minutes and the final setting time is 37 minutes. The highest concrete compressive strength results in the MD 4 mix design with 70% FA mixture: Pc 30%=1.5, which is 43.3 MPa. While the lowest compressive strength is the design mix MD 1 with a mixture of 100% FA=1.5 of 21.8 MPa.

Today, almost everyone has done online shopping activities. The presence of e-commerce makes it easier for humans to do shopping. E-commerce companies compete to provide the best service to the community. One of them is in the delivery within the city. In terms of city delivery, the 2E-VRP model has been discussed a lot lately in terms of consolidating shipments. This study aims to present the 2E-VRP mathematical model and work in two stages to find a solution. In this article, the author also compares solutions with several heuristic models including 2-opt, repetitive nearest neighbor, nearest neighbor, farthest insertion, cheapest insertion, arbitrary insertion, and nearest insertion. From the results of research conducted by the 2-opt method, farthest insertion, cheapest insertion, and nearest insertion, the total distance is the best, all three get the same distance, then followed by the nearest insertion, arbitrary insertion, and nearest insertion methods.
