This study presents a six-construct employability skills model for built environment graduates in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). The model examines the influence of generic skills, discipline-specific skills, work-integrated learning, emotional intelligence, university-industry collaboration and 4IR knowledge on graduate employability. A mixed-method approach was employed, including the Delphi technique for qualitative analysis and a well-structured questionnaire for quantitative analysis. The findings highlight the significant impact of work-integrated learning on improved employability, while also revealing the direct influence of other exogenous variables. Notably, discipline-specific skills showed a weaker influence. This research contributes to the field by presenting a tailored employability skills model for built environment graduates, addressing the sector’s unique challenges in the 4IR era. The study also offers practical implications for stakeholders involved in employability skills development. Overall, this study provides a substantive contribution to the research area of engineering education and graduate employability in the context of 4IR. In an ever-evolving job market shaped by technological advancements, this study underscores the importance of equipping built environment graduates with a diverse set of skills and knowledge to thrive in the dynamic landscape of the 4IR. © 2024 Associated Schools of Construction.

Digital financial technology adoption (DFTA) studies published in Scopus between 2019 and 2022 were examined in this study. After that, we assessed relevant literature, did bibliometric studies, and examined publication and citation patterns. The statistics showed 2643 citations and 176 publications. DFTA research has gained popularity when time-varying TP and TC values increased gradually. This topic's most popular sources are "articles"and "Sustainability (Switzerland)". A search of DFTA research stakeholders revealed several authors, organizations, and nations. Most famously associated with the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, David Mhlanga has produced more publications than anyone else. The National Natural Science Foundation and other Chinese donors who dominate DFTA research funding contributed to researchers' and affiliations' output. Cluster and hotspot analysis revealed two themes, "Digital financial technology adoption"and "sustainable Banking Inclusion,"and three keywords, Digital financial technology adoption, monetary inclusion, and finance. According to the examined literature, DFTA's effects on international financial stability and GDP growth are understudied. Future research should examine DFTA's environmental impact, long-term profitability, and commercial strategies for low-income and rural communities. © 2024 IEEE.

The work is devoted to solving the youth's professional orientation problem in modern conditions of limited offline communication. The urgency of development of new methods and tools of adolescents' professional orientation, which are based on modern information technologies, is shown. The research's focus is aimed at the introduction of computer game technologies in the work of career guidance centers, pre-university departments of colleges and higher education institutions. The expediency and effectiveness of the existing professional orientation computer game tasks usage in career guidance work with youth who need decision support at the stage of choosing a future profession are substantiated. It is shown that in the conditions of virtual reality the estimate reliability of personal qualities for compliance with a certain professional activity depends on the selection of game tasks. A clear criterion for automatic measurement of activity interest in professional activity, which depends on the task selection time, is proposed. There are fragments of computer game tasks that allow a person to self-estimate their ability to perform activities in different situations and professional relationships without communicating with career counselors and psychologists. © 2022 IEEE.

The objective of this paper is to critically examine the publication’s trends and research landscape on the Internet of Things and Machine Learning (Io T-ML) research through bibliometric analysis (BA). The Elsevier Scopus database was selected to identify, screen, and analyze the published documents on IoT-ML. The publication trends and major stakeholders on the topic were subsequently. BA was performed to examine the co-authorships, keyword occurrences, and citations using VOSviewer software. Lastly, a systematic literature review was performed to summarize the scientific and technological advancements. Results revealed that the publications on IoT-ML largely comprise articles, conference proceedings, and reviews, whereas the publication trends showed an increase from 2 to 105 between 2015 and 2021. The top researchers on IoT-ML are S. Baskar, M. Guizani, and A. Souri, whereas the top institution is the Vellore Institute of technology (India). However, the top country and research funder are; India, and National Natural Science Foundation (China), respectively. BA showed that the research landscape on IoT-ML comprises numerous networks of co-authors and countries working on related themes. The most impactful publication is Mahdavinejad et al. (2018) which has 479 citations, whereas the most prestigious journal is the IEEE Io T journal with 9 published documents in Scopus. Keyword analysis revealed IoT-ML has potential applications in health care, medicine, computer security and data analytics etc. Overall, IoT-ML has significant socio-economic and research impacts, and as such, the field will witness geometric techno-scientific growth and development in the future, particularly in the areas of network security and big data analytics.

Semantic communication (SemCom) has received considerable attention for its ability to reduce data transmission size while maintaining task performance. However, existing works mainly focus on analog SemCom with simple channel models, which may limit its practical application. To reduce this gap, we propose an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)based SemCom system that is compatible with existing digital communication infrastructures. In the considered system, the extracted semantics is quantized by scalar quantizers, transformed into OFDM signal, and then transmitted over the frequency-selective channel. Moreover, we propose a semantic importance measurement method to build the relationship between target task and semantic features. Based on semantic importance, we formulate a sub-carrier and bit allocation problem to maximize communication performance. However, the optimization objective function cannot be accurately characterized using a mathematical expression due to the neural network-based semantic codec. Given the complex nature of the problem, we first propose a low-complexity sub-carrier allocation method that assigns sub-carriers with better channel conditions to more critical semantics. Then, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based bit allocation algorithm with dynamic action space. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves 9.7% and 28.7% performance gains compared to analog SemCom and conventional bit-based communication systems, respectively. Recent studies have focused on leveraging large-scale artificial intelligence (LAI) models to improve semantic representation and compression capabilities. However, the substantial computational demands of LAI models pose significant challenges for real-time communication scenarios. To address this, this paper proposes utilizing knowledge distillation (KD) techniques to extract and condense knowledge from LAI models, effectively reducing model complexity and computation latency. Nevertheless, the inherent complexity of LAI models leads to prolonged inference times during distillation, while their lack of channel awareness compromises the distillation performance. These limitations make standard KD methods unsuitable for task-oriented semantic communication scenarios. To address these issues, we propose a fast distillation method featuring a pre-stored compression mechanism that eliminates the need for repetitive inference, significantly improving efficiency. Furthermore, a channel adaptive module is incorporated to dynamically adjust the transmitted semantic information based on varying channel conditions, enhancing communication reliability and adaptability. In addition, an information bottleneck-based loss function is derived to guide the fast distillation process. Simulation results verify that the proposed scheme outperform baselines in term of task accuracy, model size, computation latency, and training data requirements. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Solar energy could mitigate global warming and climate change. Solar energy faces economic, environmental, and technical challenges. Machine learning solves these technical issues. Despite several studies, machine learning in photovoltaics and solar energy is understudied. This study examines publishing patterns and bibliometrics to critically evaluate machine learning applications in photovoltaics and solar energy research. Scopus uses PRISMA. International publishing, citations, and collaboration are high. The Chinese Ministry of Education employs famous scholars like G. E. Georghiou and Haibo Ma. China is most active due to funding schemes like the National Natural Science Foundation and the National Key Research and Development Programme. This study examines publication patterns by country, institution, and funding organisation from 2014 to 2022, spanning topic categories and indicators. Examining author-keyword data to group publishing themes and identify influential journals. Increasing understanding of machine learning applications in photovoltaics and solar energy research. This project will examine the potential for significant development and the hurdles that must be overcome to leverage Cognitive Computing's benefits in cancer and tumour research. In response to the rising amount of malware, phishing, and intrusion attacks on global energy and grid infrastructure, photovoltaic and solar energy system cybersecurity may be studied. © 2024 IEEE.

The modern rapid development of means and technologies for education is aimed at reducing classroom classes and remote control of knowledge and skills of education seekers. The adaptation of the education system to the remote regime has become especially relevant throughout the world during the period of quarantine restrictions caused by COVID-19. In Ukraine, the urgency of developing and implementing info-communication systems in the education process has been intensified by the martial law since February 24, 2022. The urgent need to rebuild a large number of buildings and structures destroyed and damaged by hostilities makes special demands on graduates of construction educational institutions. However, the fundamental studying of specialists in this field in remote mode requires specialized info-communication systems, creating of which need taking part of specialists in the field. On-line testing is the main means of guaranteeing the quality of the modern educational process. Therefore, the article presents the specialized on-line testing system "Fast Knowledge Test", which was developed at the Kyiv National University of Construction and architecture with the participation of stakeholders. The system operates during 2021-2023 and while the monitoring of students’ knowledge and skills remains with the teacher, but the service provides for its automation.

Effective communication is crucial when working on complex or wicked problems in interdisciplinary, international teams. Developing a shared understanding of critical concepts and aligning knowledge, focus, and resources can be problematic when stakeholders speak different languages, span several disciplines and work within different national or industry-based norms. Using visual tools to represent critical concepts and their relations, and map out our strategic goals has greatly helped combat such issues. This paper recounts the use and impact of adopting visual tools within the transnational and interdisciplinary collaborative environment in the BC4ECO project's international consortium. The Miro Board and the canvas approach greatly helped represent, visualise, and thus concretise the structure and contents of our collaboration, which takes place within a 3 years ERASMUS+ framework that builds and delivers Summer School, MOOCS as well as teacher and multiplier events about harnessing the potential of Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLTs) for environmental sustainability. As the materials and MOOCS are expected to become Open Education Resources and have a wide impact, it is particularly crucial to get the contents as well as the pedagogy right, in spite of the team's differences in almost any dimension of background and culture.
