Large Language Models (LLMs) have ushered in a new era in Natural Language Processing, but their massive size demands effective compression techniques for practicality. Although numerous model compression techniques have been investigated, they typically rely on a calibration set that overlooks the multilingual context and results in significant accuracy degradation for low-resource languages. This paper introduces Multilingual Brain Surgeon (MBS), a novel calibration data sampling method for multilingual LLMs compression. MBS overcomes the English-centric limitations of existing methods by sampling calibration data from various languages proportionally to the language distribution of the model training datasets. Our experiments, conducted on the BLOOM multilingual LLM, demonstrate that MBS improves the performance of existing English-centric compression methods, especially for low-resource languages. We also uncover the dynamics of language interaction during compression, revealing that the larger the proportion of a language in the training set and the more similar the language is to the calibration language, the better performance the language retains after compression. In conclusion, MBS presents an innovative approach to compressing multilingual LLMs, addressing the performance disparities and improving the language inclusivity of existing compression techniques. This paper proposes an alternative detection frame-work for multiple sclerosis (MS) and idiopathic acute transverse myelitis (ATM) within the 6G-enabled Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) environment. The developed framework relies on the implementation of a deep learning technique known as Dense Convolutional Networks (DenseNets) in the 6G-enabled IoMT to enhance prediction performance. To validate the performance of DenseNets, we compared it with other deep learning techniques, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and MobileNet, using real-world datasets. The experimental results show the high performance of DenseNets in predicting MS and ATM compared to other methods, achieving an accuracy of nearly 90 %. © 2024 IEEE.

The use of large language models (LLM), especially ChatGPT, to help with research has come into practice. Researchers use it for timely advice and hope to obtain in-depth feedback. However, can LLM be a qualified and reliable reviewer? Although there already exist several review-related datasets, few works have carefully and thoroughly inspected model's capability as a reviewer, especially the correctness of generated reviews. In this paper, we first evaluate GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 (the current top-performing LLM) on 2 types of tasks under different settings: the score prediction task and the review generation task. In addition, we propose a dataset containing 196 review-revision multiple-choice questions (RR-MCQ) with detailed labels from the review-rebuttal forum in ICLR-2023. By asking questions from technical details to the overall presentation and quality, our RR-MCQ data provides a more complete model ability assessment. The results show that LLM is generally helpful, but great caution is needed as it always makes mistakes. Although it can give passable decisions (> 60% accuracy) on single options, completely correct answers are still rare (about 20%);models are still weak on long paper processing, zero-shot scoring, and giving critical feedback like human reviewers. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Recently, Large Language Models (LLMs) have been demonstrated to possess impressive capabilities in a variety of domains and tasks. We investigate the issue of prompt design in the multi-turn text-to-SQL task and attempt to enhance the LLMs’ reasoning capacity when generating SQL queries. In the conversational context, the current SQL query can be modified from the preceding SQL query with only a few operations due to the context dependency. We introduce our method called CoE-SQL1 which can prompt LLMs to generate the SQL query based on the previously generated SQL query with an edition chain. We also conduct extensive ablation studies to determine the optimal configuration of our approach. Our approach outperforms different in-context learning baselines stably and achieves state-of-the-art performances on two benchmarks SParC and CoSQL using LLMs, which is also competitive to the SOTA fine-tuned models. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

A Robust Pilot Decontamination Scheme in Massive MIMO Systems: Integrating Rateless Orthogonal STBC, Weighted Graph Coloring, and Channel Estimation

Even though Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) systems are one of the greatest innovations in wireless cellular network technology, they still face many challenges as we progress to 6G, hindering their ability to achieve the best throughput. In cellular networks, channel estimations are made using pilot sequences. Deploying these orthogonal time-frequency limited resources leads to pilot contamination, causing incorrect channel estimation due to mixed signals from neighboring cells and vice versa. Previous research has proven that this significantly decreases system performance. To reduce the impact and improve the output of Multiuser MIMO systems, this paper proposes a hybrid model combining Rateless Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (ROSTBC), Weighted Graph Coloring Pilot Allocation (WGCPA), and Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE). While ROSTBC has the ability to adapt to channel conditions, allowing the system to perform well despite pilot contamination, WGCPA and MLE address the problems of pilot contamination and the accuracy of channel estimation, respectively. The results showed that this hybrid scheme has proven to perform better compared to previously proposed schemes, providing a valuable contribution to reliable Massive MIMO wireless communication.

During the cultivation and growth of green plums, various defects frequently occur, potentially affecting their overall quality and economic value. Accurate classification and identification of these defects have become essential components of the harvesting process, particularly when employing smart agricultural equipment. These defects pose significant challenges to the yield and quality of green plums, making their precise detection crucial for ensuring optimal output and economic efficiency. However, most contemporary research on fruit defect classification and grading using artificial intelligence techniques primarily focuses on accuracy, often neglecting the constraints imposed by limited resources. This study addresses the aforementioned challenges by employing knowledge distillation techniques to optimize the performance of a lightweight model. Specifically, during the knowledge distillation process, the vision transformer model, known for its robust recognition capabilities, was selected as the teacher model. The lightweight MobileNetv3 model, chosen for its ease of deployment, served as the student model and was trained using the Lion optimizer. In addition, the dual guidance learning module was designed to enhance knowledge transfer between the teacher and student models, thereby improving the overall capability of the student model. Experimental validation demonstrated that the proposed method excels in the green plum defect recognition task, with the student model, MobileNetv3, achieving an accuracy of 99.17% and exhibiting high performance in key metrics such as precision, recall, and F1-score. Notably, MobileNetv3 not only delivers exceptional performance but also features a low parameter count and computational complexity, facilitating its efficient deployment in practical applications. The supply chain network is one of the most important areas of focus in the majority of business circumstances. Blockchain technology is a feasible choice for secure information sharing in a supply chain network. Despite the fact that maintaining security at all levels of the blockchain is difficult, cryptographic methods are commonly used in existing works. Effective supply chain management (SCM) offers various benefits to organizations, such as enhanced customer satisfaction, increased operational efficiency, competitive advantage, and cost reduction. Potential SCM for agricultural and food supply chains needs distributors, coordination and collaboration among farmers, retailers, and stakeholders. The use of technology like Block Chain (BC), sensors, and data analytics, can boost traceability and visibility, decrease waste, and ensure safety and quality throughout the supply chain. Therefore, this study develops a Hunger Games Search Optimization with Deep Learning Model for Sustainable agricultural and food Supply Chain Management (HGSODL-ASCM) technique. The fundamental goal of the HGSODL-ASCM technique is to improve decision-making processes for agricultural and food commodity production and storage in order to optimise revenue. In the provided HGSODL-ASCM technique, a bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) model is built to determine the amount of productivity and storage required to maximise profit. In order to boost the performance of the Bi-LSTM classification process, the HGSO algorithm has been utilized in this work. The presented HGSODL-ASCM technique can independently achieve the SCM policies via interaction with complicated and adaptive environments. A brief set of simulations were performed to ensure the improved performance of the HGSODL-ASCM technique. The simulation results demonstrated how superior the HGSODL-ASCM method is to other methods already in use. © The Author(s) 2023.

In this paper, a compact large-scale wideband large-scale dual-linearly polarized patch antenna array is proposed for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) at the ISM band. The decoupling technique is applied for a 2 ×42-D antenna array under the extremely close edge-to-edge distance of 1 mm (0.019 λ0). A prototype of this wideband decoupled 2-D patch antenna array is simulated, fabricated, and measured to validate the feasibility of the proposed method. Both the simulation and measured results show that the poor isolations have improved to better than 13 dB within a wide operating bandwidth of more than 10.6%, and the radiation patterns have been corrected obviously, which indicates the proposed decoupling scheme possesses the promising potential for large-scale antenna array applications for wideband multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) systems in ISAC. © 2023 IEEE.

Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) has witnessed great success in tackling the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). In ACO, ants involved in the pheromone update play pivotal roles in its optimization effectiveness. Along this road, this paper designs an ant selection mechanism along with a non-linear weight method for ACO to update the pheromone effectively, leading to a novel ACO, called NLW-ACO. Particularly, NLW-ACO leverages the fitness values of ants to assign each ant a selection probability. Then, it adaptively chooses ants for pheromone update. Subsequently, a nonlinear weight is assigned to each selected ant based on its fitness value to update the pheromone matrix. Resultantly, better ants have higher selection probabilities and larger weights to take part in the pheromone update. This leads to that NLW-ACO compromises search convergence and search diversity appropriately to seek for the optimum. Experiments have been carried out on 10 TSP instances of diverse scales. The experimental findings substantiate that NLW-ACO significantly outperforms the 5 typical ACO methods, especially on large-scale TSP problems. © 2024 IEEE.
