In the field of aquaponics, where fish and plants coexist in a symbiotic environment, closely monitoring nitrate levels in the water is crucial due to their profound impact on aquatic and plant well-being. Traditional nitrate measurement methods are often time-consuming and costly. Various approaches, including first principles, IoT-based sensors, and machine learning-based soft sensors, have been attempted to address this challenge. However, these efforts face challenges such as expensive sensors, infrequent data collection, multistage data processing using limited sensor types, and the need for regular maintenance like cleaning and calibration. Additionally, varied environmental conditions affect sensor suitability for different water environments, and even some machine learning-based soft sensors have proven inaccurate. In response, soft sensors, especially deep learning-based ones, have gained prominence in industrial applications for their adaptability and accuracy. These sensors provide real-time insights into complex processes without requiring expensive hardware. In this study, an innovative solution was introduced using Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) technology, a neural network architecture in deep learning known for capturing complex temporal patterns. LSTM is well-suited for modeling and predicting nitrate concentration changes in aquaponics, trained with extensive data collected from various aquaponic ponds. Through rigorous evaluation, a remarkable MSE value of 0.00074 and an impressive R-squared score of 0.98 were achieved, holding potential for scaling up to commercial applications, benefiting aquaponics operations, supporting researchers, and enhancing sustainability and productivity in aquaponic systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Explaining constraint programs is useful for debugging an unsatisfiable program, to understand why a given solution is optimal, or to understand how to find a unique solution. A recently proposed framework for explaining constraint programs works well to explain the unique solution to a problem step by step. It can also be used to step-wise explain why a model is unsatisfiable, but this may create redundant steps and introduce superfluous information into the explanation sequence. This paper proposes methods to simplify a (step-wise) explanation sequence, to generate simple steps that together form a short, interpretable sequence. We propose an algorithm to greedily construct an initial sequence and two filtering algorithms that eliminate redundant steps and unnecessarily complex parts of explanation sequences. Experiments on diverse benchmark instances show that our techniques can significantly simplify step-wise explanation sequences. © Ignace Bleukx, Jo Devriendt, Emilio Gamba, Bart Bogaerts, and Tias Guns.

COVID-19 imposed huge burdens and obligations on public health and epidemiology centers to elevate the role of periodic surveillance and case tracing in order to cease the spread of the pandemic. As a result, nations globally are developing various digital solutions for accurate surveillance, reporting of new cases, tracing contacts, and monitoring public health. Traditional tracking and reporting methods have been replaced by intelligent solutions for accurate and efficient reporting. Tools such smart phones, portable devices, and drones have been incorporated in these solutions. These devices produce large amount of data on daily basis and need to be processed instantly to battle the spread of the virus and this is where AI is needed. While the need for AI in disease control and surveillance is clear, the application of AI methods and machine learning algorithms in this field needs further studies. This paper is a systematic review of using AI in COVID-19 surveillance literature to answer the following questions: 1. What AI-based methods are used globally for COVID-19 surveillance? 2. How effective are these methods, and 3. What are the methods used in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. © 2021 IEEE.

Many countries developed and increased greenery in their country sights to attract international *** planning is now significantly contributing to their *** next task is to facilitate the tourists by sufficient arrangements and providing a green and clean environment;it is only possible if an upcoming number of tourists’arrivals are accurately *** accurate prediction is not easy as empirical evidence shows that the tourists’arrival data often contains linear,nonlinear,and seasonal *** traditional model,like the seasonal autoregressive fractional integrated moving average(SARFIMA),handles seasonal trends with *** contrast,the artificial neural network(ANN)model deals better with nonlinear time *** get a better forecasting result,this study combines the merits of the SARFIMA and the ANN models and the purpose of the hybrid SARFIMA-ANN ***,we have used the proposed model to predict the tourists’arrival inNew Zealand,Australia,and *** results showed that the proposed hybrid model outperforms in predicting tourists’arrival compared to the traditional SARFIMA and ANN ***,these results can be generalized to predict tourists’arrival in any country or region with a complicated data pattern.

The primary aim of identifying the binding motifs in gene regulation is to understand the transcriptional regulation molecular mechanism systematically. In this study, the (, d) motif search issue was considered which entails finding the length motifs which differ by at most d substitutions. However, identifying the high-quality pattern (, d) is challenging. It is intended to address the above problem with motif discovery and handle it using the proposed algorithm S2F (Segmentation to Filtration) based on the qPMS (quorum Planted Motif Search) algorithm model. From the entire DNA sequences, five percent are chosen at random to be used in the motif discovery process. This random sub segment (subseg) portion is split up into base, sub k-mers, and its sizes (motif length ()) are determined by the iterative approach. Corresponding to the sizes of and d (mutations), the k-mers are chosen which participated in filtration techniques and the base k-mer count and frequency are updated. The highest frequency of k-mer is recognized as the motif. The algorithm’s performance was evaluated using the two real datasets Escherichia coli cyclic AMP receptor protein (CRP) and mouse Embryonic Stem Cell (mESC) ChIP-seq (Chromatin Immuno Precipitation) dataset. Results from the experiments show that S2F can identify the motifs and appear faster compared to previous state-of-the-art PMS (Planted Motif Search) and qPMS algorithms. Properties of the Geometry of Solutions and Capacity of Multilayer Neural Networks with Rectified Linear Unit Activations

Rectified linear units (ReLUs) have become the main model for the neural units in current deep learning systems. This choice was originally suggested as a way to compensate for the so-called vanishing gradient problem which can undercut stochastic gradient descent learning in networks composed of multiple layers. Here we provide analytical results on the effects of ReLUs on the capacity and on the geometrical landscape of the solution space in two-layer neural networks with either binary or real-valued weights. We study the problem of storing an extensive number of random patterns and find that, quite unexpectedly, the capacity of the network remains finite as the number of neurons in the hidden layer increases, at odds with the case of threshold units in which the capacity diverges. Possibly more important, a large deviation approach allows us to find that the geometrical landscape of the solution space has a peculiar structure: While the majority of solutions are close in distance but still isolated, there exist rare regions of solutions which are much more dense than the similar ones in the case of threshold units. These solutions are robust to perturbations of the weights and can tolerate large perturbations of the inputs. The analytical results are corroborated by numerical findings.

Due to the ever-growing population, rapid urbanization, unusual environmental change, and dwindling water supply, the food production from conventional farming techniques won't be able to keep up with increasing food demand for long, leading to severe food scarcity. Aquaponics is emerging as a viable alternative to food cultivation techniques but lacks efficiency, hindering its adoption on a large-scale production basis. The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques in smart aquaponic farming can further contribute to increasing the yield in aquaponics. In the study, both linear and non-linear regression algorithms such as linear regression, lasso regression, ridge regression, KNN regression, SVR, and decision tree regression were trained on aquaponic fish pond dataset, evaluated on the basis of multiple metrics like MAE, MSE, RMSE, and RMSLE, and a competitive analysis was done to determine the best algorithm for predicting the harvest weight of the fish in aquaponic ponds. The results showed that KNN regression and decision tree regression algorithms have lowest error and highest accuracy of 99.15% and 99.1% respectively, for predicting the harvest weight of the fish. The results obtained could be scaled up to commercial levels and used in regulating nutrient concentration and aquatic environmental conditions © 2023 IEEE.

The term "cloud computing"refers to a method of managing and using resources remotely. Networks, servers, applications, machines, and other resources and storage are all part of the shared and virtualized resource pool that is offered. In addition to providing the flexibility, stability, and scalability many organizations need the services of cloud computing, this reduces the need for setting up the private cloud and deploy separate hardware resources. However, multi-could settings presented several security and trust issues. This paper primary contribution is an examination of contemporary, serious trust challenges that arise in a multi-cloud context. And to put out a survey comparing trust management frameworks for Multi-Cloud environment to address the challenges identified. The suggested solution is given to have a more robust and secure trust framework based on data compliance. © 2023 IEEE.
