There is a considerably vast communication gap between deaf and hearing individuals, and one potential solution is the development of American Sign Language (ASL) recognition technology. While methods utilizing deep learning and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown promising results in general ASL recognition tasks, the potential of optimized CNN architectures for ASL recognition remains *** research identifies the ideal CNN structure to achieve best ASL recognition in static images. The VGG16 model has come out to be very effective;however, analyzing multiple CNN implementations may provide interesting perspectives which could in turn expose features that could potentially be helpful in ASL recognition. This experiment compares the performance of a fine-tuned ResNet50 CNN model with a baseline VGG16 model in ASL recognition. Through analysis of each model’s respective strengths and weaknesses, the study aims to identify areas within the VGG16 architecture that may be further optimized to produce precise *** research project provides guidance for picking suitable CNN architectures and offers valuable insights for improving VGG16 model to achieve even better accuracy and robust results. © 2024 IEEE.

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated remarkable capabilities in comprehensively handling various types of natural language processing (NLP) tasks. However, there are significant differences in the knowledge and abilities required for different tasks. Therefore, it is important to understand whether the same LLM processes different tasks in the same way. Are there specific neurons in a LLM for different tasks? Inspired by neuroscience, this paper pioneers the exploration of whether distinct neurons are activated when a LLM handles different tasks. Compared with current research exploring the neurons of language and knowledge, task-specific neurons present a greater challenge due to their abstractness, diversity, and complexity. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a method for task-specific neuron localization based on Causal Gradient Variation with Special Tokens (CGVST). CGVST identifies task-specific neurons by concentrating on the most significant tokens during task processing, thereby eliminating redundant tokens and minimizing interference from non-essential neurons. Compared to traditional neuron localization methods, our approach can more effectively identify task-specific neurons. We conduct experiments across eight different public tasks. Experiments involving the inhibition and amplification of identified neurons demonstrate that our method can accurately locate task-specific neurons. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Natural Language processing (NLP) includes the task of classifying texts. The proposed paper uses the ability and power of machine learning and deep learning techniques for sentiment analysis on restaurant reviews. With the increasing use of social media, classification of reviews has significant role in the development of public opinion. This work has extensive applications from client opinion study, market research and social media monitoring. The machine learning algorithms and NLP techniques are used classifying reviews and the results are rigorously analysed. It was noted that results obtained from logistic regression and multinomial naïve bayes algorithms are better than other machine learning models. Hence these two algorithms are selected to optimize further. After tuning the hyperparameters by grid search technique, the best accuracy obtained by logistic regression and multinomial naive bayes on validation dataset was 89.9% and 89.6% respectively. Deep learning architectures were also utilized for reviews classification. The accuracy obtained by Convolutional Neural Net (CNN) and Bi-Directional Long-short-term-memory (Bi-LSTM) was 89% and 90% respectively. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Malware is a never-ending issue for business networks and personal devices. Nevertheless security-conscious consumers who employ up-to-date security solutions might fall victim to zero-day attacks. Furthermore, blacklisting-based methods suffer from false positives and false negatives. From here on, the concept of application whitelisting spread across security providers, and numerous solutions based on the same underlying technical concept emerged. In addition, whitelisting is used as a protective solution for emerging technologies such as industrial control systems and IoT systems. This research goes into depth on whitelisting techniques and algorithms to identify essential requirements based on whitelisting literature review and systems engineering concepts. It defines the requirements to build a powerful whitelisting system to be integrated into effective cyber defense solutions. © 2023 IEEE.

Some of the techniques that have been used include Naive Bayes, K-Means Clustering, Support Vector Machine (SVM) and k-Nearest Neighbors (KNN). To provide useful information to researchers and practitioners, the study reflects the performance, strengths and weaknesses of each algorithm using several datasets. The ability of SVM to model complex decision boundaries is evaluated. It is widely applied in high-dimensional scenario. This paper focuses on the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of using KNN for classification purposes, such as its simplicity of use, flexibility, and the fact that the classification accuracy and the sensitivity to the selection of parameters should not be overlooked. The performance of the unsupervised K-Means Clustering algorithm in partitioning data into clusters is assessed. The method of decision trees is considered, and the question of their capability to model non-linear dependencies is raised. Finally, the performance and relevancy of the probabilistic classifier Naive Bayes for text categorization is also evaluated. This research thus offers valuable guidance to practitioners regarding the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed algorithms for categorisation, based on a detailed comparative analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Organizational efficiency is significantly influenced by automated attendance management systems, yet traditional methods often lack flexibility and reliability. This study proposes a novel approach to transform the Smart Attendance Management System (SAMS) by leveraging recent advances in Self-Supervised Learning (SSL). The proposed method enhances accuracy and adaptability without explicit supervision by integrating SSL techniques at multiple stages, including feature extraction, anomaly detection, and data preparation. The proposed system learns meaningful representations from unlabeled attendance data through SSL-based data preprocessing, thereby improving the performance of downstream tasks. Feature extraction by utilizing SSL enables the proposed system to extract robust features enhancing both anomaly detection and attendance tracking. Anomaly detection models trained with SSL frameworks can effectively identify unusual attendance patterns. Additionally, SSL-based continuous learning ensures that the proposed system can adapt to the changing user behaviors and various situations. Supported by SSL, the proposed SAMS offers a more precise, efficient, and flexible solution for managing attendance, positioning it to meet the evolving demands of contemporary businesses across various industries. © 2024 IEEE.

Deep learning (DL), an evolving technology, allows computers to learn autonomously from historical data. Furthermore, it employs a number of methodologies to generate the precise models and create predictions based on facts or old data. A deep learning system produces the predictions based on mathematical models of prediction which is built from past information once it gets new information. Nowadays, the use of deep learning in medical systems is crucial in various applications such as recognition, segmentation, and classification. Worldwide, lung illness is a prevalent occurrence in human beings which includes Covid-19, pneumonia, emphysema, asthma, lung cancer, etc. The early identification of lung diseases helps to detect the disease more accurately. Several deep learning techniques, including convolutional neural network, vanilla neural networks, visual geometry group-based networks and Caps Net, are used to predict the lung illness. To forecast different lung diseases from chest X-ray and CT scan pictures, typical CNN's performance and learning framework is insufficient. This proposed work aims to build a lung disease detection model using CNN with various hyperparameter tuning to enhance the accuracy of the model. Also, the accuracy is associated with advanced methods to enhance the performance of the proposed work. © 2023 IEEE.

This study examines the implementation and impact of Cloud-Enhanced Machine Learning Models in the realm of Predictive Maintenance within Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) settings. Emphasizing the integration of cloud computing with machine learning, the research focuses on how this synergy improves the accuracy and efficiency of maintenance predictions in industrial environments. Key metrics evaluated include prediction accuracy, operational efficiency, cost savings, and reduction in equipment downtime. The study demonstrates a significant increase in prediction accuracy, from 65% to 88%, attributed to the advanced data processing and analytical capabilities of cloud-enhanced machine learning. Operational efficiency saw marked improvements, with a 50% reduction in response times and a 25% increase in maintenance scheduling efficiency, leading to a 20% rise in asset utilization rates. Financially, the implementation led to a 37% reduction in annual maintenance costs and a 40% decrease in both the cost per downtime incident and long-term repair expenses. Most notably, the study recorded a 62.5% reduction in both the duration and frequency of downtime incidents. These results highlight the transformative potential of integrating cloud computing and machine learning in IIoT for predictive maintenance, showcasing significant advancements in predictive accuracy, operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and overall reduction in downtime. The study underscores the critical role of technological innovation in advancing industrial maintenance strategies, leading to more proactive, efficient, and economically viable operations. © 2024 IEEE.

The cloud services which are now the most common data transmission and endanger organizations' confidential information, it's more and more visible that security of any data should be a main priority for companies. MFA, which consists of adopting multi factor approach to authentication and thereby provides multiple types of verification thus ensures effective security, is leveraged to ensure resource access. This paper proposes a full-fledged way of implementing MFA for cloud services in order to strengthen the security given and manage the constatoing risks. The proposed methodology consists of main stages like requirements determining, technology reviewing, risks assessment, technology design, integration with cloud services, users training, pilot deployment and testing, implementation and configuration, monitoring and maintenance as well as constant improvement. Through a systemic approach, the organizations can be equipped with the capability to personalize the MFA solutions according to their security goals, to bring the cloud environments on board, as well as to ensure that the organizations comply with the security standards as set by various governing bodies. This research adds a grain of salt to the development of cloud security good practices through offering a disciplined approach to MFA implementation, which allows partners to harden their cloud assets and protect against growing cyber threats. © 2024 IEEE.
