Vishing attacks, or voice phishing attacks, are a type of social engineering attack in which attackers use voice communication channels, such as phone calls, to trick victims into divulging sensitive information or performing actions that compromise their security. Vishing attacks have become increasingly common in recent years and can have severe consequences for individuals, businesses, and organizations. In this review, we examine various prevention and mitigation techniques that can be used to defend against vishing attacks. We start by discussing the common tactics used by attackers and how they exploit vulnerabilities in human behaviour to achieve their goals. We then present an overview of different prevention and mitigation techniques, including education and awareness campaigns, technical solutions such as authentication mechanisms and policy-based approaches. We also evaluate the effectiveness of different techniques, highlighting their strengths and weaknesses, and provide guidance on how to implement a comprehensive vishing defence strategy. Finally, we discuss emerging trends and challenges in vishing attacks and defence, such as the use of artificial intelligence and deepfake technology, and suggest directions for future research and development. Overall, this review provides a comprehensive and up-to-date overview of the current state of vishing attacks and defence, and should be of interest to researchers, practitioners, and individuals who want to enhance their knowledge and understanding of this important topic. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Plants is one of the major food sources for world population. In addition to that, some plants and their outcomes are used in food preparation. One of the plants which is widely used in foods and having huge medicinal value is turmeric. Curcuma long the botanically named spice turmeric has large anti-inflammatory properties, antioxidants, etc., the tropical perennial plant is cultivated worldwide. Diseases in plant leaves is one of the serious factors that affects the turmeric cultivation. Leaf disease reduces the production and it requires continuous monitoring to avoid total loss. Manual monitoring is challenging when the crop is planted in large fields. Due to industrial revolution and smart agriculture concepts, artificial intelligence- based disease detection procedure is presented in recent times. Thus, in this research work a deep learning-based turmeric leaf disease detection model is presented using AlexNet. The leaf disease classification model is experimented with our own dataset which includes diseases like Leaf Spot Disease, Leaf Blight, Leaf Rot, and Leaf Curl. The experimentation results provide the maximum accuracy of proposed leaf disease classification model as 95.5% which is better than traditional machine learning models. © 2024 IEEE.

Back recognition is critical for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis screening. Existing methods mainly rely on manual work which is time-consuming and laborious and may introduce errors and mismatching impacting the accuracy of subsequent screening outcomes. In this work, we propose to utilize the Mask R-CNN network as the framework for auto-extraction of the back region on Adam's bending images. However, due to the inherent limit receptive fields, initial Mask R-CNN can hardly learn long-range dependencies which are crucial for object detection and segmentation. To this end, we introduce the explicit visual center module into Mask R-CNN. In the EVC module, a lightweight MLP is devised to extract global long-range dependencies. To compensate for MLP's lack of ability to capture features of local corner regions, a learnable visual center is incorporated. By aggregating global long-range dependencies and discriminative feature representation of local key regions, our Mask R-CNN can achieve better performance on Adam's bending images. Moreover, we collect and annotate an Adam's bending image dataset for back recognition. Experimental results on our annotated dataset demonstrate that our improved Mask R-CNN considerably improves the average precision in detection and segmentation of Mask R-CNN from 78.6% to 83.6% and 85.8% to 87.0%, respectively. © 2024 IEEE.

As the deadliest form of pollution, air pollution had a prolonged severe damage to the human health and life safety of nearly 99% of the world's population. Facing to the problem that billions of tons of pollutants discharged into the air per year by industrial activities, this paper proposed a novel image-based air pollution monitor (IAPM) by incorporating local and global information in the self-adaptive multiscale transform domain, so as to achieve the timely and effective leakage detection of typical air pollutants from a single image. To be specific, this paper first developed a screen-shaped module according to two significant findings in visual neuroscience, which include the high sensitivity of human eyes to horizontal and vertical stimuli and the center-surround inhibition, by designing and fusing the square module, horizontal strip module and vertical strip module parallelly for simulating the behaviour of human eyes to extract local features. Second, the learnable weights and proportional mapping were applied to incorporate the screen-shaped module and lightweight vision transformer as backbone, towards more richly exploiting and fusing local and global information just as the way a brain perceives external stimuli. Third, a new self-adaptive multiscale transform domain method was devised based on two motivations from the visual characteristics of multiscale perception and the brain characteristics of self-adaptive domain transform to modify the backbone by using the operations of pooling and pointwise convolution. Extensive experiments implemented on the datasets of carbon particulate matters and ethylene leakage confirmed the superior monitoring performance of the proposed IAPM model beyond the state-of-the-art (SOTA) peers by an accuracy gain of about 4%. Furthermore, the proposed IAPM model only required 0.089 GFLOPs and 0.15 million model parameters, remarkably outperforming SOTA competitors in computational efficiency and storage resources. © 1999-2

artificial intelligence is an essential tool for early disease recognition and supporting patient condition monitoring in the future. Timely and exact conclusions about the type of disease are significant for treatment and life extension. A combination of classification and feature selection algorithms can effectively handle complex datasets in the medical field and improve the accuracy of disease diagnosis and treatment. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid feature selection algorithm that uses inconsistency metrics as a filter method for the first step, and then feeds the resulting dataset into a wrapper method, which ultimately results in a reduced dataset. The proposed HFSIM algorithm is tested on five datasets in the medical domain from Kaggle. The obtained feature subsets are verified on three classification algorithms, KNN, LR and RF of machine learning to validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm obtains feature subsets with low dimensionality on most of the datasets and also has high classification accuracy after testing on the classifiers. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

The Digital Twin (DT) is primarily used to digitally represent a physical object, process, or service. Simply put, DT is a clone representation of a physical object in the real world, such as wind farms, objects like a building or even an entire city. The key uses of technology are to collaborate, train, and simulate processes or products. The results of DT vary greatly depending on the sector and application, but a few key advantages include reducing costs and risks before investing in real-world resources and helping to enhance products or processes over their entire life cycles. The integration of the digital Twin with so many various industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, and the growth of urban and rural areas, has enhanced the prominence of this emerging technology. As the abdominal and chest injuries are high morbidity and mortality around the globe, these pose an acute challenge in emergency care. Current data from recently released sources indicate that more than half of the patients visiting ER and also being admitted into hospital account for trauma; and the burden of both abdominal and chest injuries is quite high. Imaging plays an important role in diagnosis and treatment planning in the management of abdominal and chest injuries. The most widely practiced modality is radiograph imaging simply because it produces quality and easy results. Improving Automated pathology object detection of things in radiographs with deep learning algorithms promises much for the precision of diagnosis and optimization in health care. This paper discusses and provides a very detailed review of optimized CNNs, primarily ResNet18, ResNet34, along with a custom-built neural network for the identification of disease from X-ray pictures. Such models are trained and validated to reach excellent sensitivity and specificity on a wide variety of diseases by using the annotated RSNA 2023 dataset by professionals in radiology. It extended the scope of earlier research in this field by looking at other imaging conditions and diseases as well. This puts its contribution into the larger, ongoing discussion of AI in radiology. The results of this study help to contribute to the thesis that the promise of deep learning in radiological diagnosis is substantial, and it could be used to better enhance patient outcomes in the practice of emergency radiology.

Reliable data on the composition and structure of forests at various spatial scales is necessary for the conservation and monitoring of forest biodiversity. However, because field sampling techniques can be challenging, comprehensive data regarding the features of forest habitat over wide areas are frequently lacking. In order to get over this restriction, we created variables that describe the structure of the forest landscape over a wide environmental gradient using a nationally accessible light detection and ranging (LiDAR) remote sensing dataset. This research proposes a novel technique in forest management based on biodiversity analysis using LiDAR image processing by deep learning techniques. Here, the input LiDAR image has been collected as temperature pattern dataset in major deforestation regions and processed for noise removal and normalization. This image feature has been extracted using recurrent graph learning-based SegNet component analysis. Then, this extracted feature has been classified using Gaussian deep belief region-based adversarial neural networks. The experimental analysis has been carried out for various temperature pattern datasets in terms of random accuracy, average precision, recall, NSE, and AUC. The results of this study will help determine policy objectives for the restoration of mountain areas and enhance the effectiveness of monitoring damaged mountain forests. With the help of the suggested method, 96% random accuracy, 94% average precision, 49% NSE, 93% recall, and 95% AUC were achieved. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have expressed remarkable capability in processing graph-structured data. Recent studies have found that most GNNs rely on the homophily assumption of graphs, leading to unsatisfactory performance on heterophilous graphs. While certain methods have been developed to address heterophilous links, they lack more precise estimation of high-order relationships between nodes. This could result in the aggregation of excessive interference information during message propagation, thus degrading the representation ability of learned features. In this work, we propose a Disparity-induced Structural Refinement (DSR) method that enables adaptive and selective message propagation in GNN, to enhance representation learning in heterophilous graphs. We theoretically analyze the necessity of structural refinement during message passing grounded in the derivation of error bound for node classification. To this end, we design a disparity score that combines both features and structural information at the node level, reflecting the connectivity degree of hopping neighbor nodes. Based on the disparity score, we can adjust the aggregation of neighbor nodes, thereby mitigating the impact of irrelevant information during message passing. Experimental results demonstrate that our method achieves competitive performance, mostly outperforming advanced methods on both homophilous and heterophilous datasets. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Decision-making is crucial in fully autonomous vehicle operations and is expected to greatly influence future transportation systems. Observing the current driving status of autonomous vehicles is vital for its decision-making process. The autonomous connected vehicles on the road send significant data about their movements to the server to maintain continuous training. With the Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus process, blockchain technology provides a valid, decentralised and secure option to improve transactions throughput and minimise delay. The limited computational capacity of vehicles poses a challenge in achieving high accuracy and low latency while training self-driving algorithms. GPT-4V surpassed challenging autonomous systems in scene interpretation and causal thinking. GPT-4V has ability to navigate circumstances without access to database, interpret intentions, and make sound decisions in real-world driving scenarios. The reward function and different driving conditions are organised to allow an optimal search to find the most efficient driving style while ensuring safety. The consequences of the Blockchain-enabled decision-making model (DMM) for Self-Driving Vehicles (SDV) primarily based on GPT-4V and Federated Reinforcement Learning (FRL) would, likely, upgrades in decision-making accuracy, operational performance, statistics integrity, and potentially enhanced learning skills in SDV. Integrating blockchain technology, superior language modelling GPT-4V and FRL may lead to multiplied safety, reliability, and decision-making ability in SDV. This study utilised the Simulation of Urban MObility (SUMO) simulator to assess the ability of SDV to maintain its desired speed consistently and securely in a highway setting using proposed DMM. This study indicates that the suggested DMM, utilising the driving state evaluation approach for SDV, can help these vehicles operate safely and effectively.
