Situation awareness on Mars is indispensable for various downstream applications such as navigation and path planning, mapping and scientific discover. However, current Mars rover platform suffered from the absence of global information, leading to mission reduction and the failure of global planning. Compared to the rover, Mars helicopter is a new type of attempt for Mars exploration, which can provide a wide range view of scenes to well support the above missions. To this end, in this paper we proposed a novel learning-based situation awareness model for Mars helicopter. We modified the Yolov7 model by embedding a new channel attention on its head to improve the accuracy of detection. Besides, we designed a Tiny-Scale Detection Module (TSDM) to capture small or hidden rocks in complex Martian surface. To achieve further refinement and validate our proposal, we built an open-source synthetic dataset in air view. After extensive experiments, our model achieved excellent outperforms than the baseline model in our Mars dataset. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Spreadsheets contain a lot of valuable data and have many practical *** key technology of these practical applications is how to make machines understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets,e.g.,identifying cell function types and discovering relationships between cell *** existing methods for understanding the semantic structure of spreadsheets do not make use of the semantic information of cells.A few studies do,but they ignore the layout structure information of spreadsheets,which affects the performance of cell function classification and the discovery of different relationship types of cell *** this paper,we propose a Heuristic algorithm for Understanding the Semantic Structure of spreadsheets(HUSS).Specifically,for improving the cell function classification,we propose an error correction mechanism(ECM)based on an existing cell function classification model[11]and the layout features of *** improving the table structure analysis,we propose five types of heuristic rules to extract four different types of cell pairs,based on the cell style and spatial location *** experimental results on five real-world datasets demonstrate that HUSS can effectively understand the semantic structure of spreadsheets and outperforms corresponding baselines.

Multi-modal intent detection (MID) aims to comprehend users' intentions through diverse modalities, which has received widespread attention in dialogue systems. Despite the promising advancements in complex fusion mechanisms or architecture designs, challenges remain due to: (1) various noise and redundancy in both visual and audio modalities and (2) long-tailed distributions of intent categories. In this paper, to tackle the above two issues, we propose InMu-Net, a simple yet effective framework for MID from the Information bottleneck and Multi-sensory processing perspective. Our contributions lie in three aspects. First, we devise a denoising bottleneck module to filter out the intent-irrelevant information in the fused feature;Second, we introduce a saliency preservation loss to prevent the dropping of intent-relevant information;Ultimately, kurtosis regulation is introduced to maintain representation smoothness during the filtering process, mitigating the adverse impact of the long tail distribution. Comprehensive experiments on two MID benchmark datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of InMu-Net and its vital components. Impressively, a series of analyses reveal our denoising potential and robustness in low-resource, modality corruption, cross-architecture and cross-task scenarios. © 2024 ACM.

Introduction: Sleep is a crucial biological need for all individuals, being reparative on a physical and mental level. Driving heavy vehicles is a task that requires constant attention and vigilance, and sleep deprivation leads to behavioral and physiological changes that can develop sleep disorders which can put lives at risk. Objectives: The main objectives of this study are to describe and evaluate sleep quality, excessive daytime sleepiness, circadian preference, and risk of suffering from obstructive sleep apnea in a population of Portuguese professional drivers. Methods: To fulfill the objectives, 43 Portuguese professional drivers, between 23 and 63 years old, answered validated questionnaires: Epworth Sleepiness Scale, Morningness–Eveningness, Stop-Bang Questionnaire, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. Results: Results indicated that older drivers tend to experience higher daytime sleepiness (11 ± 3.4;p = 0.002) and obstructive sleep apnea risk (4.5 ± 1.5;p = 0.03). Regarding sleep quality, the majority of drivers were classified with poor sleep quality (74.4%). It was possible to infer statistical differences between groups based on body mass index (p = 0.037), the type of route (p = 0.01), and physical activity (p = 0.005). Conclusion: Drivers have an indifferent circadian preference and small-course drivers have a worse sleep health perception. Therefore, it is essential to implement prevention programs, promoting the basic rules for better sleep quality as well as identifying sleep disorders to minimize possible road accidents. © The Author(s) 2024.

Although the latest object detection methods have demonstrated strong performance on large-scale comprehensive datasets, various adverse lighting conditions limit their potential application in real-world scenarios, especially the deployment on mobile robots. In this study, we propose a novel and lightweight re-illumination framework for end-to-end adaptive enhancement for adverse lighting images. Specifically, we employ a set of differentiable image processing modules and pixel-wise curve parameter mapping to adapt to various lighting conditions. We use YOLOv3 detection loss to learn the curve parameters of the U-shaped parameter predictor (UPP) in a weakly-supervision manner. We further deploy the proposed framework to a low-power hardware platform. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method in various adverse lighting conditions(i.e. haze, low-light).

The advancement of technology has brought about ease of life with the help of technology automation which can be applied virtually in all aspects of living. With the emergence of internet of things, prototyping real state systems has become less expensive and easy to embark on thus creating platforms for development in the oil & gas sector. This research aims to analyze, design, and develop an effortless system powered via solar energy for the control of a sprinkler system and liquid flow void of human intervention. The system was programmed using an Arduino board and other hardware at an adjustable set time with Arduino software. The research is geared at reducing human efforts in irrigation systems, to save cost and time in sprinkling liquid on any system. The use of some weather parameters like humidity, temperature, and moisture sensors;Arduino kits and GSM module constitutes the smart irrigation system setup. The system is automated to feed the necessary quantity of liquid to any given surface based on design parameters with the moisture sensor programmed within 0 to 1023 (0-100%) range. The system adapted a method of pump-start at 40% moisture reading. Various analysis of the research findings has been presented in the work with applicability in remote areas and oil fields void of human intervention. To address the issue of information redundancy (such as color and vehicle model) caused by excessive emphasis on local features in vehicle re-identification, this paper proposes a Synergistic Learning Network with Embedded Encoder and Dense Atrous Convolution (SEDNet). The proposed SEDNet framework consists of three unique branches: a global embedded multi-head encoder (GEME), local dual-dense atrous convolution (LDAC), and auxiliary attribute embedding (AAM). The GEME branch integrates the global appearance features of the vehicle to enhance consistency in descriptions from different perspectives. To suppress redundant information such as color and vehicle model information, and refine local features, the LDAC branch employs an attention mechanism to capture multiscale features using convolutional kernels with varying dilation rates. In addition, the AAM branch uses vehicle metadata, such as direction and camera perspectives, to enhance feature robustness. Our proposed SEDNet method has been rigorously tested on the mainstream benchmark vehicle re-identification datasets, including VeRi-776, VehicleID, and VeRi-Wild. The results show that our method enhances the mAP by 2.2%, 2.2%, and 0.2%, respectively, when compared to the latest methods, all evaluated on a regular scale. Additional experiments conducted on the Market-1501 and DukeMTMC-reID datasets further verify our method’s generalization capability.

Dynamic objects diversify the distribution of point cloud in the map, degrading the performance of the robotic downstream tasks. To address this problem, we present a novel real-time dynamic instance-aware static mapping framework called DynaInsRemover, which exploits the geometric discrepancies between instances to efficiently remove dynamic objects and preserve more details of static map. It contains the Instance Occupancy Check module for initial dynamic instance proposal and the Instance Belief Update module for reverting false positives. We quantitatively evaluate our approach performance on the SemanticKITTI dataset and validate it in a real-world environment. Experimental evaluations show that our method achieves very promising results in dynamic environments. The implementation of our method is available as open source at: https://***/Zhaohuanfeng/***.

In the era of the digital economy, the protection of digital intellectual property is an important issue. At present, blockchain is widely used in the field of intellectual property protection. The market cap of NFT achieved tens of billions of dollars in a short period of time. Due to the lack of transaction openness, users are far less enthusiastic about the consortium blockchain-based intellectual property trading market. However, NFT is also plagued by a large number of pirated works. Existing methods are far from meeting the requirements of safe and efficient intellectual property protection tasks. To address this issue, we propose B2IPTS, a novel framework that integrates the advantages of consortium blockchain and cryptocurrency in the field of intellectual property protection. Our framework provides efficient ways to register intellectual property and execute transactions across blockchains. The property owners and property purchasers can exchange assets across heterogeneous blockchains without relying on a trusted intermediary. We use blockchain and cryptography to achieve three characteristics: (i) efficiency-fast on-chain certificate storage, (ii) versatility-compatibility with most blockchain structures, and (iii) atomicity of transactions-after a successful payment, the purchaser will definitely obtain the property. B2IPTS is designed as a decentralized system framework based on the consortium blockchain, and its primary functions rely on smart contracts. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
