Review on Detection and Mitigation of Sybil Attack in the Network

Sybil attack is an attack in which the identities of the node are subverted and the large number of pseudonymous identities is produced to gain the access of the network. In this paper, we studied the detection mechanism of Sybil attack in peer-to-peer reputation systems, self-organizing networks and even social network systems. Also, various methods to mitigate the Sybil attack are analyzed. The studied mechanisms are evaluated in terms of detection rate, false positive rate, false negative rate and non-trustworthy rate. A research component in detection and mitigation of Sybil attack is, how to improve the detection rate and to minimize the false positive and false negative rate.

There has been a growing interest in Health Informatics applications, research, and education within the Middle East and North African Region over the past twenty years. People of this region share similar cultural and religious values, primarily speak the Arabic language, and have similar health care related issues, which are in dire need of being addressed. Health Informatics efforts, organizations, and initiatives within the region have been largely under-represented within, but not ignored by, the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). Attempts to create bonds and collaboration between the different organizations of the region have remained scattered, and often, resulted in failure despite the fact that the need for a united health informatics collaborative within the region has never been more crucial than today. During the 2017 MEDINFO, held in Hangzhou, China, a new organization, the Middle East and North African Health Informatics Association (MENAHIA) was conceived as a regional non-governmental organization to promote and facilitate health informatics uptake within the region endorsing health informatics research and educational initiatives of the 22 countries represented within the region. This paper provides an overview of the collaboration and efforts to date in forming MENAHIA and displays the variety of initiatives that are already occurring within the MENAHIA region, which MENAHIA will help, endorse, support, share, and improve within the international forum of health informatics.

Hidden Biometric Security Implementation through Human Brain's Artificial Macro Structure

Biometrics are means for security but on the other side they are prone to forgery. For this hidden biometrics like veins, retina, etc. came into the picture. We have chosen hidden biometrics because of their characteristic of not being visible to outside world without scanning devices. Humans are unique because of the brain, so we argue to use the brain as most obvious yet sophisticated biometric trait. Brain Biometrics is the field recently introduced but a lot of work has been done to use brain's electrical activity as biometric for various human thoughts and deeds. This is the first formal work in our knowledge where the features of brain which were earlier used only for medical diagnosis such as brain structure, surface area, gyrification index, brain grey & white matter volume, have been utilized to as parameters for brain biometrics. Apart from using brain structure as biometric feature we have also kept it secure as we are not using and storing actual brain structure. We have transformed it into an artificial brain macro structure which is an artificial model of brain having unique structural features of brain. Other parameters are stored in the form of mathematical figures only thus chances of biometric theft and forgery are very less. The results are fascinating as we are able to match all available brain MRI images which could be segmented properly, with correct subjects during verification.

Aspects provide a means of separating cross-cutting concerns from our core implementation code into separate modules. Cross-cutting concerns are pieces of functionality that are used across multiple parts of a system. They cut across, as opposed to standing alone. For example if every method of our program requires logging information for identification then a logging aspect can be applied to methods external to the method implementation without using logging information with the methods internally. It's a powerful technique to help employ the principle of separation of concerns within code. Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP) is a methodology that provides separation of crosscutting concerns by introducing a new unit of modularization—an aspect . Each aspect focuses on a specific crosscutting functionality.

Secret Sharing Based Visual Cryptography Scheme Using CMY Color Space

In the era of internet, internet is widely used by the individual for the communication and the information give and take process. Protecting our data from the unconstitutional processes and keeping the secret information secure and in safe hands, every individual utilizes the cryptography such as symmetric or asymmetric. But, these cryptographic processes needs much more cost for the execution. For that reason, lots of secret sharing schemes were proposed. Secret image distribution is the fine talent and skill concern with the protection of important color images by dividing the secret in multiple copies. The basic fundamental behind the scheme is to change the color image into some multiple unreadable format type shares so that they can not reveal the information inside the image until it is again combines with some mathematical computation. A Secret Sharing Scheme can be estimated by it's the four conditions which are Security, Reconstruction Precision, Computation Complexity, Storage Requirement. In Most of the previous scheme there were issues related with security of image for the reconstruction means user can reveal secret from the hidden image, reconstructed of image quality i.e. contrast or accuracy; it means the reconstructed images were distress from the loss of info related to images and resultant image is different from the original image. Images also suffered from pixel expansion issues for which data loss was occurring. In the present work CMY color model will be implemented with ((n-1), n) secret sharing scheme based on visual cryptography for the color image and compared and proved to be better that the RGB color model which is free from the issue of security, pixel expansion and accuracy issue as well. As the printer use the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black color for printing that's why CMY color model is implemented in this work to prove that CMY color space is better than RGB color space.

A wireless sensor network consists of many wireless nodes forming a network which are used to monitor certain physical or environmental conditions, such as humidity, temperature, sound etc. Some of the popular applications of sensor network are area monitoring, environment monitoring (such as pollution monitoring), and industrial and machine health monitoring, waste water monitoring and military surveillance. Topology control in WSNs is a technique of defining the connections between nodes in order to reduce the interference between them, save energy and extend network lifetime. The Objective of my paper is to Maximize the network lifetime. The algorithm proposed is a modification to the CLTC framework first we form clusters of nodes using K-Means, in second phase we do intra-cluster topology control using Relative Neighbourhood Graph, and in third phase we do inter-cluster topology control ensuring connectivity. The simulations were carried out using Omnet++ as a simulator and Node Power Depletion and Node Lifetime as parameters.

A Generic Algorithm to Improve the Performance of Wireless Sensor Network Protocol

A multi-hop wire-less network is composed of large number of nodes and consecutive links between them so that when a packet is transmitted from one node to another it goes through several path. Wireless sensor network normally consists of large number of distributed nodes that organizes them into a multi-hop wireless network. In wireless sensor network one of the main problems is related to energy issue because every node is operated by battery. To have large network life time all nodes need to minimize their energy consumption. Node is composed of small battery so that the energy associated with this node is very less. So replacing and refilling of battery is not possible which is very costly. Hence some techniques are applied through which the energy associated with each node can be conserved. Energy conservation can be done by controlling the transmission power of each node. In this thesis we have tried to implement a protocol in the literature and the performance of the protocol in sensor network.

Wireless Network Topological Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consist of thousands of tiny nodes having the capability of sensing, computation, and wireless communications. Many routing, power management, and data dissemination protocols have been specifically designed for WSNs where energy consumption is an essential design issues. Since wireless sensor network protocols are application specific, so the focus has been given to the routing protocols that might differ depending on the application and network architecture. The study of various routing protocols for sensor networks presents a classification for the various approaches pursued. The three main categories explored are data-centric, hierarchical and location-based. Each of the routing schemes and algorithms has the common objective of trying to get better throughput and to extend the lifetime of the sensor network. A comparison has been made between two routing protocols, Flooding and Directed Diffusion, on the basis of throughput and lifetime of the network. Simulation of AODV (WPAN) is also carried over two topologies with same source and destination node.

There has been a huge development in the field of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) in the recent years. The development is mainly due to the availability of small size sensor cameras and microphones. Such devices capture the multimedia data from the environment and effectively transmit them. Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WSMN) is also the current topic of discussion due to its application in various fields. In order to improve the channel utilization rate, reduce transmission delay and balance the transmission load in WMSN multipath routing is a promising solution. Multipath routing helps to transfer data simultaneously thus by reducing delay and congestion in WMSN. In this paper, various protocols and schemes are being discussed on multipath routing strategy which will identify the areas of further development for WMSN.

A Survey on Scheduling Schemes with Security in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is highly distributed network of small and light weight node. The node has the limited battery lifetime. Packet scheduling is important in WSN to maintain fairness based on priority of the data and to reduce the end to end delay. Existing packet scheduling algorithm used were First Come First Served (FCFS), Preemptive, Non-Preemptive. In this paper Dynamic Multilevel Priority (DMP) Packet Scheduling Scheme with the Bit Rate classification is proposed. The threshold value check mechanism is also proposed to prevent the deadlock situation. To provide security we will be implementing the RC6 security algorithm.
