Installation of IR Camera in Smart Watches for Facial Expression Recognition

IR camera, with its various advantages, can be found in many different fields. The most important application of an IR camera is that it can be used even in the dark, unlike an ordinary camera. Using this plus point, we can integrate this with other technologies to help us locate obstacles in the dark. This is due to the fact that IR cameras can detect heat instead of just capturing and since everything on this planet gives off heat, these IR cameras can detect these obstacles. Many methods have been implemented to deal with such problems but there are not easily available and are quite expensive. IR camera have been used in as surveillance cameras and also in movies to make the inanimate idealistic. However, they have not been integrated with smart watches which are easily available nowadays and are much cheaper than any other alternatives. The idea is to integrate this IR camera with a smart watch that would make it portable and easy to use anywhere. Not only is this technology aimed to help the general public but also the blind. Detection of any facial expression would alert the watch wearer that someone is in vicinity. Since IR camera can sense heat, they would be better recognizers of different expressions. This would not only allow them to navigate on their own, but also inform about the whereabouts of the user to their close friends and family in case of emergency.

Over the last few years, DC/DC buck converters have been the subject of great interest due to its higher utility for different applications. In this review paper, we explain about various types of controlling method of dc-dc buck converter for closed loop feedback system. The study is focused on various specified application such as wireless network, computer server, computer CPU, telephonic system etc. Here we consider about linear, nonlinear, voltage control, current control, and switch mode controller for design the closed loop system. In linear controlling method, we consider about PID controller, its tuning process, and finding other system parameter. But linear systems fails to work properly in real-time applications, hence we have to think about nonlinear controller and due to this reason, we consider switching mode controller, Hysteretic current and voltage mode controller etc.

A fall is an unintentional event in which a person comes to rest on the ground/floor/a lower level. Falls are the second driving cause of inadvertent injury deaths around the world. Falls pose a major health risk to children and the elderly (especially above the age of 65). Injuries from falls make it difficult for an individual to move around, do regular activities, or live on their own. Hence, studies on methods able to recognize Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and to identify falls is on the rise. The acknowledgment of ADLs may permit to gather the sum of physical activity that a subject performs daily, whilst the timely identification of falls may aid in diminishing their consequences. To improve the accuracy of the classifier, the data from smartwatches and smartphones are combined. There are not many publicly accessible datasets incorporating data from both smartwatchesand smartphones. Hence, the data will be collected independently. The Decision tree (J48) classifier will be used to classify the falls. The evaluation metrics include: Precision, Recall, F1 Score and the confusion matrix.

The impact of defects in construction operations can be assessed in terms of ensuring reliability and safety of buildings and structures. Defects may diminish the bearing capacity and stability of a structure, cause deterioration, reduce durability, and lead to an accident. In more than 60% of cases, accidents in monolithic construction projects may be triggered off by faults in concreting and reinforcement jobs. This article analyzes the main types of defects at the most critical technological stages, determines the factors affecting the defect detection process, gives a brief description of the nature of damage and deterioration of monolithic reinforced concrete structures, proposes classification of defects by degree of criticality, including those in critical structures, and, based on inspection results, offers a conclusion on the need for recommendations and experimental research aimed at improving the technological processes of monolithic reinforced concrete construction operations, including those using nondestructive methods of testing the strength of monolithic structures at the concreting stage.

This paper is about designing a robot which is economical and can help military by transmitting video in closed quarter combats. small unarmed ground vehicle (SUGV) is a robot consisting of a toy car acting as a platform and arduino uno controller,batteries,Bluetooth module and a smartphone are mounted on *** DC motors of the wheels are connected to the arduino controller and via the Bluetooth HC-05 module the commands from the accelerometer of the smartphone are sent to the microcontroller depending on which the motion and direction of the wheel can be controlled. The robot can move in forward,reverse,left and right directions and this movement is controlled by the droid to arduino app installed in the *** smartphone mounted on the platform uses skype video conferencing application to send the live video of its surveillance to the skype application installed in the laptop using internet. By using the video soldiers can take suitable *** SUGV helps in minimizing risk to a soldier's life.

Parameters Affecting the Overall Performance of Bus Network System at Different Operating Conditions: A Structural Equation Approach

User satisfaction is one of the key factors in running a successful city bus service from both passengers’ and operators’ perspective. To improve the facilities provided by public buses, a performance analysis is essential. Conventional empirical models, such as generalized linear mode (GLM) and multiple regression models have been used in several studies to predict bus performance characterizing parameters and overall performance of bus network system. This paper proposes a methodology for evaluating the overall performance provided by the bus network system at different operating conditions(viz. Office Days, Weekend Holidays, Festive Days, Rainy Days) prevailing in Dhaka Metropolitan city. A Structural Equation Model (SEM) is used to reveal the observed and unobserved performance defining parameters and their relationship with the overall performance of bus network system. Under the study, performance of the public buses has been identified by processing field survey data according to a suitable mathematical procedure. For this purpose, a total of 400 passengers of buses were interviewed with a predetermined structured questionnaire at different operating conditions to know their experience, level of satisfaction and opinion about the existing service as well as their expectations. Some attention-grabbing results have been obtained. Variation of parameters significance at different operating conditions has been shown. Three latent parameters have been found representing the overall bus network performance. And among the three of them roadway geometry obtains the highest weightage on overall bus network performance. Among the 14 observed parameters, number of private car obtains the highest weightage. However, during rainy days drainage system gets the highest weightage. This study also generates a ranking of the parameters that influence the overall performance of bus network system at different operating conditions. The study findings can be utilized by the city

A science department on the campus of the University of Illinois has received numerous national awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The secret to their success? For nearly two decades, they have collaboratively used evidence-based instructional practices (EBIP) in their introductory level courses. Despite these successes and efforts to spread their EBIP, no other departments followed this department's lead. Then, suddenly six years ago, many instructors from other departments began adopting EBIP in their classrooms. This article asks what was the catalyst for this change? Why had previous attempts at institutional change failed? The authors answer these questions by analyzing their efforts to transform the teaching practices in large-enrollment science and engineering introductory courses on their campus.

Sustainability is becoming more and more important, which is why the concrete and cement industry are attempting to reduce negative impacts to the environment. One of the methods regarding this is to use industry by-products from the manufacturing of steel products like blast furnace slag (BFS) to replace the raw materials required in cement. The chloride ion penetration has to also be taken into consideration since it reinforces the concrete structure. Thus, the influence of BFS on blocking resistance and chloride ion penetration by using BFS with different Blaine value is studied by using 'Standard on Test Methods for Chloride Ion Diffusion Coefficients in Concrete' by electrophoresis (Draft) (JSCE-G571-2003)' and the total chloride ion amount was measured in accordance to JIS R 5202. The result is that using BFS in cement has influences on the penetration properties.

at a time when Kerala achieved hundred percentage primary education status, the state Education Department has reported a sharp increase in the dropout rates of Dalit students in the state. Educational experts criticize that the lack of coordination and poor realization of schemes by the government were the reasons for the rising number of dropouts from schools. The highest dropout rate was recorded in the border districts of Wayanad, Idukki and Kollam. The overall aim of this paper is to provide the scenario of drop outs students of scheduled cast (boys and girls). Also, we interpret the analysis of variance among the drop out students in different classes.

Analyzing competition between High Speed Rail and Bus mode using market entry game analysis

The introduction of High Speed Rail (HSR) changes the dynamics of the passenger transport therefore understanding the market scenario after the entry of the HSR is of utmost importance. In this study, a market entry game is analysed in the context of High Speed Rail competing with the bus mode on the Bangalore-Mysore corridor. The game is modelled as an extensive form game whose outcome will determine the strategies of the players in the competitive scenario. A discrete choice model is constructed using revealed and stated preference data to compute the modal share in the hypothetical scenario. Utilities in terms of profit for each mode is calculated using assumed cost functions for different strategies of the mode operators. These utilities are then used to form the basis for the extensive form game for the market entry. The extensive form game (with and without perfect information) is analyzed by computing the sub game perfect Nash equilibrium of the game which determines best strategies for each player under different demand scenarios. This study therefore provides a scientific tool for policy makers to analyze best strategies for players under different demand scenarios thereby aiding in decision making.
