LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR DETERMINING 30 TIME-TEMPERATURE PARAMETERS FOR CONVECTIVE HEAT PROCESSING: A RESEARCH TOOL FOR NUTRIENT ANALYSIS

A laboratory procedure was developed to study a wide range of time and temperatures during convective heat processing of a pork/soy hull product. The procedure reduces labor costs associated with extensive nutrient analyses studies. As experimental examples, these heat processing parameters were used to examine the yield and fat and cholesterol content of the product. The curve fits for time-temperature profiles were identified as quadratic equations. To further quantify these profiles, two expressions were calculated: (1) the integral (°C min), or area under the curve, and (2) the second derivative (°/min 2 ), or acceleration of the heat penetration curve. The integral of the quadratic curve fit of time-temperature profiles ranged from 156 to 6318°C/min. Positive correlations were found between moisture content and product yield and the fat content and cholesterol. Negative relationships were found between the integral and product yield, and the integral and moisture content. Recommendations were made for applying this procedure for nutrient analyses studies.

He received the BE degree in Electronics and Communications from B.M.S. College of Engineering Bangalore in 1988. He joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at Syracuse University for his graduate studies in 1989 where he is currently a research assistant. His research interests are in microwave measurements numerical electromagnetics and signal processing. Biographies and photos are not available for M. Manela and R. K. Lade. Tapan K. Sarkar (Sf69-M'76-SM'X1) was born in Calcutta. India on August 2 1948. He received the BTech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur India in 1969 the MScE degree from the University of New Brunswick Fredericton Canada in 1971. and the MS and PhD degrees from Syracuse University. Syracuse NY in 1975. From 1975-1976 he was with the TACO Division of the General Instruments Corporation. He was with the Rochester Institute of Technology (Rochester NY) from 1976-1985. He was a Research Fellow at the Gordon Mckay Laboratory Harvard University Cambridge MA from 1977 to 1978. He is now a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Syracuse University. His current research interests deal with numerical solutions of operator equations arising in electromagnetics and signal processing with application to system design. He obtained one of the “ best solution” awards in May 1977 at the Rome Air Development Center (RADC) Spectral Estimation Workshop. He has authored or coauthored more than 154 journal articles and conference papers and has written chapters in eight books. Dr. Sarkar is a registered professional engineer in the state of New York. He received the Best Paper Award of the IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility in 1979. Dynamic analysis of waveguide structures containing dielectric and metal strips is presented. The analysis utilizes a finite difference frequency domain procedure to reduce the problem to a symmetric matrix eigenvalue problem. Since the matrix is also sparse, the eigenvalue problem can be solved quickly and efficiently using the conjugate gradient method resulting in considerable savings in computer storage and time. Comparison is made with the analytical solution for the loaded dielectric waveguide case. For the microstrip case, we get both waveguide modes and quasi-TEM modes. The quasi-TEM modes in the limit of zero frequency are checked with the static analysis which also uses finite difference. Some of the quasi-TEM modes are spurious. This article describes their origin and discusses how to eliminate them. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the principles.

Spline finite strip has been successfully applied in solving right plates and shells by Cheung et al in 1982. In this paper, the method is extended to the analysis of parallelogram plate. This extension still retains the banded nature of the spline finite strip and only small amount of extra computing effort is required. Further-more, the discretisation error of the above method is established theoretically as a general case for the spline finite strip method.

A registered professional engineer in the state of Pennsylvania Mr. Banham is co-author of a forthcoming handbook on preparing for the Professional Engineering Examination in mechanical engineering. Mr. Banham holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the Pennsylvania State University his graduate studies were taken at the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently a member of the American Society for Engineering Education and the Instrument Society of America. He served as a member of the ISA Education Committee from 1964 through 1973 and as a member of the ISA Power Plant Dynamics Committee since 1969. His service on the latter committee includes terms as Executive Secretary Vice-Chairman and Chairman. One of the most serious problems encountered in Naval steam plants following World War II was the unreliable performance of boiler and main feedpump pneumatic control systems. In addition to control component and system design deficiencies, these control systems suffered from inadequate methods to measure and adjust system alignment. This paper describes the development of a set of procedures for on-line alignment verification (OLV) of pneumatic main boiler and feedpump control systems. The procedures are designed for use by N avy control system technicians and, in addition to on-line alignment verification, provide guidance for troubleshooting and for performing system alignment. Procedure static checks measure steady state steaming performance and OLV procedure dynamic checks measure the ability of the boiler and control systems to respond to load changes. The paper describes typical control system characteristics that influence OLV procedure content and the supporting analysis that was used to establish alignment criteria ranges that satisfy both steady state and transient performance requirements. Also described is the alignment criteria tolerance analysis along with the steps involved in a typical OLV check procedure development. Descriptions of the various OLV checks, troubleshooting procedures and alignment procedures are provided. Typical shipboard implementation requirements are described and experience to date with the procedures is provided along with a status report on OLV procedure implementations.

Acceptance/Rejection Methods for Beta Variate Generation

The computer generation of pseudorandom variates from the beta distribution is discussed. Three exact methods applicable for parameter values p > 1 and q > 1 are presented. All three are acceptance/rejection methods, based on functions of the location of the mode and points of inflection. The methods differ in the amount of the set-up required, with higher set-up times generally resulting in lower marginal generation times. Generation times are compared to four methods in current use: ratio of gamma variates, and the methods of Johnk, Ahrens and Dieter, and Cheng. It is difficult to discover significant audio elements and conduct systematic comparison analyses when trying to automatically detect emotions in speech. In situations when it is desirable to reduce memory and processing constraints, this research deals with emotion recognition. One way to achieve this is by reducing the amount of features. In this study, propose "Active Feature Selection" (AFS) method and compares it against different state-of-the-art techniques. According to the results, smaller subsets of features than the complete feature set can produce accuracy that is comparable to or better than the full feature set. The memory and processing requirements of an emotion identification system will be reduced, which can minimise the hurdles to using health monitoring technology. The results show by using 696 characteristics, the AFS technique for emobase yields a Unweighted average recall (UAR) of 75.8%.

ICT is widely adopted by Asian youth and is utilized by people of all ages across the continent. Despite its many advantages, unethical ICT usage can lead to many complications. A harmful application of ICT for social communication and engagement is cyberbullying. Simply adhering to the generally accepted norms and guidelines for cybersecurity will not protect you from cybercrime. Even well-known social media stages like Twitter are safe from this attack. Natural language processing (NLP) research on cyberbullying detection has become popular recently. Even though old-style NLP procedures have become highly cyberbullying, there are still hurdles to overcome. These include the limited character count allowed by social media platforms, an imbalance among comments, ambiguity, and unnecessary use of slang. Models based on (CNNs), Multilayer Perceptrons (MLPs), and (RNNs), have recently shown encouraging results in a variety of NLP tasks. With this motivation, this research develops an African vulture optimization algorithm with a graph neural network-based cyberbullying detection and classification (AVOAGNN-CBDC) model. The proposed AVOAGNN-CBDC technique mainly intends to detect and classify cyberbullying. The AVOAGNN-CBDC technique undergoes data preprocessing in different stages and a FastText-based word embedding process to achieve this. Besides, the AVOAGNN-CBDC technique employs the GNN model for cyberbullying detection and classification. Finally, the AVOA is used for the optimal parameter selection of the GNN model, which helps achieve improved classification performance. The experimental result investigation of the AVOAGNN-CBDC technique is tested on the cyberbullying dataset, and the outcomes highlighted the supremacy of the AVOAGNN-CBDC technique in terms of several measures.
