Financial Distress Prediction has been a critical concern in the field of finance that sparked a slew of academic interests in the area. In our study, we examine the performance of various data mining models for predicting financial distress in companies in the Middle East and North Africa area, followed by model optimization. The main goal of the study is to find the most reliable deep neural network model for financial distress prediction, with optimized parameters. The study is divided into three phases. The output of various single machine learning classifiers and ensemble techniques for predicting financial distress is compared in the first phase. The best classifier found in the first step, the neural network, is then given different number of hidden layers. Furthermore, to achieve better prediction performance than the second stage, the Multi-Layer Perceptron model is optimised by tuning the hyperparameters such as network depth and network width. The prediction performance of the models is evaluated using real-time data sets containing samples of companies from the MENA region. The technique of re-sampling is used, for all the models, in order to get accurate and unbiased results. © 2021. All Rights Reserved.

This research paper explores the transformative potential of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in mitigating the longstanding issue of post-harvest losses within the agriculture sector. These losses, which encompass both quantitative and qualitative deterioration of food commodities from harvest to consumption, have posed persistent challenges, resulting in economic losses and food wastage. By delving into the current landscape of post-harvest losses and the application of IoT technology, the paper offers valuable insights into how IoT can be harnessed to reduce these losses effectively. It not only highlights the benefits and existing IoT solutions but also addresses the inherent challenges, providing recommendations for their resolution. Moreover, the research introduces a machine learning-based model, specifically Random Forest ML, to identify and prevent losses in tandem with IoT devices, empowering farmers with timely alert messages for informed decision-making, thus fostering a more sustainable and efficient agricultural ecosystem.

Balancing equations for excitation system is very basic and fundamental concept and in some cases it becomes more difficult so that a mathematical treatment is needed in order to make it easy for AC and DC Regulators Excitation Systems (ES). This research paper mainly focuses on an excellent application of The power generating units and higher power motors are majority included by wound field synchronous machines because of it has flexible field excitation, flux intrinsic weakening capacity and high efficiency. It can be also used in low to medium power range for high end solutions in a wide range. This paper is analyzing a study of modern methods and technologies of excitation system for AC and DC regulators.

In a country, economic growth indicators are measured by GDP growth rates. In order to predict GDP growth then, economic situation and economic development strategy have always been used. In this study, GDP contribution at the current price by the industrial sector has been predicted by using heuristic network method. There were nine GDP growth variables including (1) Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, Fishery, (2) Mining & Quarrying, (3) Manufacturing Industry, (4) Electricity, Gas, Water supply, (5) Construction, (6) Trade, Hotel, Restaurant, (7) Transport& Communication, (8) Finance, Real Estate & Business Services, and (9) Services in the period 2001-2016 have been analyzed. Experimental results show that the error rate forecasting in 2017 is less than 10%. The results show that intelligent computing method (heuristic network) can be an alternative method for predicting the contribution of GDP. This method predicts fairly quickly, significantly and produces an acceptable error prediction.

Autonomous systems are able to make decisions and potentially take actions without direct human intervention, which requires some knowledge about the system and its environment as well as goal-oriented reasoning. In computer systems, one can derive such behavior from the concept of a rational agent with autonomy (“control over its own actions”), reactivity (“react to events from the environment”), proactivity (“act on its own initiative”), and sociality (“interact with other agents”) as fundamental properties \n[1]\n. Autonomous systems will undoubtedly pervade into our everyday lives, and we will find them in a variety of domains and applications including robotics, transportation, health care, communications, and entertainment to name a few. \nThe articles in this month’s special issue cover concepts and fundamentals, architectures and techniques, and applications and case studies in the exciting area of self-awareness in autonomous systems.

During the 2018 IMIA General Assembly (GA) held on Oct 2018 in Sri Lanka, a new organization, the Middle East and North African Health informatics Association (MENAHIA) was established as a regional non-governmental organization to promote Health informatics in the region. Health informatics activities in applications, education, and research have been growing in the Middle East and North African region for many years. Over the past year, health informatics initiatives within the region focused on the education sector and the workforce. The need to enhance the education delivery and methods is essential in promoting Health informatics in the region as well as establishing master programs in many countries within the region. This paper provides an overview of the variety of initiatives that are occurring in the region and are endorsed by MENAHIA.

There has been a growing interest in Health informatics applications, research, and education within the Middle East and North African Region over the past twenty years. People of this region share similar cultural and religious values, primarily speak the Arabic language, and have similar health care related issues, which are in dire need of being addressed. Health informatics efforts, organizations, and initiatives within the region have been largely under-represented within, but not ignored by, the International Medical informatics Association (IMIA). Attempts to create bonds and collaboration between the different organizations of the region have remained scattered, and often, resulted in failure despite the fact that the need for a united health informatics collaborative within the region has never been more crucial than today. During the 2017 MEDINFO, held in Hangzhou, China, a new organization, the Middle East and North African Health informatics Association (MENAHIA) was conceived as a regional non-governmental organization to promote and facilitate health informatics uptake within the region endorsing health informatics research and educational initiatives of the 22 countries represented within the region. This paper provides an overview of the collaboration and efforts to date in forming MENAHIA and displays the variety of initiatives that are already occurring within the MENAHIA region, which MENAHIA will help, endorse, support, share, and improve within the international forum of health informatics.

A science department on the campus of the University of Illinois has received numerous national awards for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The secret to their success? For nearly two decades, they have collaboratively used evidence-based instructional practices (EBIP) in their introductory level courses. Despite these successes and efforts to spread their EBIP, no other departments followed this department's lead. Then, suddenly six years ago, many instructors from other departments began adopting EBIP in their classrooms. This article asks what was the catalyst for this change? Why had previous attempts at institutional change failed? The authors answer these questions by analyzing their efforts to transform the teaching practices in large-enrollment science and engineering introductory courses on their campus.

In this paper, we present an optimistic concurrency control solution. The proposed solution represents an excellent blossom in the concurrency control field. It deals with the concurrency control anomalies, and, simultaneously, assures the reliability of the data before read-write transactions and after successfully committed. It can be used within the distributed database to track data logs and roll back processes to overcome distributed database anomalies. The method is based on commit timestamps for validation and an integer flag that is incremented each time a successful update on the record is committed. We show that this method overcomes inefficient taken methods (i.e. unnecessary restarts) in order to improve the performance and to increase productivity. Moreover, the method includes information about the time-stamping of transactions and flagging successfully updated data in the main-memory as it is proposed. Finally, the implemented work finds a need for an adaptive and an integrated concurrency control method in distributed database systems. Thus, a new optimistic concurrency control method is presented in this paper where it is expected to produce correct and reliable results.
