With the rapid development of web 2.0, increased users of online social media show keen interest to express their opinion and reviews on numerous aspects such as microblogs, various products, hotels, movies and political issues. At present, text mining plays a vital role in various application domains such as online media, healthcare, security applications, business, marketing and industrial applications. In text mining, sentiment analysis or opinion mining is a task carried over to extract or classify the information. This paper presents an exhaustive study on the performance factors highlighting the current state-of art techniques and the open issues on various machine learning based text mining approaches.

There has been a growing interest in Health Informatics applications, research, and education within the Middle East and North African Region over the past twenty years. People of this region share similar cultural and religious values, primarily speak the Arabic language, and have similar health care related issues, which are in dire need of being addressed. Health Informatics efforts, organizations, and initiatives within the region have been largely under-represented within, but not ignored by, the International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA). Attempts to create bonds and collaboration between the different organizations of the region have remained scattered, and often, resulted in failure despite the fact that the need for a united health informatics collaborative within the region has never been more crucial than today. During the 2017 MEDINFO, held in Hangzhou, China, a new organization, the Middle East and North African Health Informatics Association (MENAHIA) was conceived as a regional non-governmental organization to promote and facilitate health informatics uptake within the region endorsing health informatics research and educational initiatives of the 22 countries represented within the region. This paper provides an overview of the collaboration and efforts to date in forming MENAHIA and displays the variety of initiatives that are already occurring within the MENAHIA region, which MENAHIA will help, endorse, support, share, and improve within the international forum of health informatics.

The Web services use community to grow with different functionality and location. Today web service can provide satisfactory solution for each and every application. Web services are communicating with face identifier and detect the problem occur in the location. Face recognition is the process of identifying human face based on circumstance. This work implements with a system that is configured to identify faces especially the image caught in ATM camera with certain environmental constraints. The proposed work enhances this approach using web logic and web services. The mechanism works on the proposed system for all the constraints specified for identifying images and provides feasible solution through broad area spectrum for identifying images and to store images in all other web services. The transitional algorithm uses Eigen values along with Adaboost, Daugman's Method and Global Gabor Phase Pattern which is in turn applied for face recognition in web services. The results are proven to be effective and feasible by which an image identified and the result is well shared among all other web services.

Online social networks have already become a bridge connecting our physical daily life with the (web-based) information space. This connection produces a huge volume of data, not only about the information itself, but also about user behavior. The ubiquity of the social Web and the wealth of social data offer us unprecedented opportunities for studying the interaction patterns among users so as to understand the dynamic mechanisms underlying different networks, something that was previously difficult to explore due to the lack of available data. In this book, we present the architecture of the research for social network mining, from a microscopic point of view. We focus on investigating several key issues in social networks. Specifically, we begin with analytics of social interactions between users. The first kinds of questions we try to answer are: What are the fundamental factors that form the different categories of social ties? How have reciprocal relationships been developed from parasocial relationships? How do connected users further form groups? Another theme addressed in this book is the study of social influence. Social influence occurs when one"s opinions, emotions, or behaviors are affected by others, intentionally or unintentionally. Considerable research has been conducted to verify the existence of social influence in various networks. However, few literature studies address how to quantify the strength of influence between users from different aspects. In Chapter 4 and in [138], we have studied how to model and predict user behaviors. One fundamental problem is distinguishing the effects of different social factors such as social influence, homophily, and individual"s characteristics. We introduce a probabilistic model to address this problem. Finally, we use an academic social network, ArnetMiner, as an example to demonstrate how we apply the introduced technologies for mining real social networks. This paper describes the fabrication of Kinect remote-controlled cars, using PC, Kinect sensor, interface control circuit, embedded controller, and brake device, as well as the planning of motion interaction courses. The Kinect sensor first detects the body movement of the user, and converts it into control commands. Then, the PC sends the commands to Arduino control panel via XBee wireless communication modules. The interface circuit is used to control movement and direction of motors, including forward and backward, left and right. In order to develop the content of Kinect motion interaction courses, this study conducted literature review to understand the curriculum contents, and invited experts for interviews to collect data on learning background, teaching contents and unit contents. Based on the data, the teaching units and outlines are developed for reference of curriculums.

Face detection has become a fundamental task in computer vision and pattern recognition applications. This paper describes a system for face detection using data mining approach. The proposed face detection method is a two phase process comprising of training and detection phase. In the training phase, training image is transformed into an edge and non-edge image. Maximal Frequent Itemset Algorithm (MAFIA) is used to mine positive and negative feature patterns from edge and non-edge images respectively. Based on the feature patterns mined, a face detector is constructed to prune non-face candidates. In the detection phase, sliding window approach is applied to the test image in different scales. Experimental results on FEI face database show good performance even across different orientations, pose and expression variations to a certain extent.

Haptic devices are electro-mechanical tools controlled by computers that allow to recreate the sense of touch. They enhance the sense of interaction with virtual objects from purely visual to haptic and visual. One of its application areas is in training environments, where the users can interact with virtual objects to learn procedures or tasks. In this paper we describe the use of haptic devices to improve the learning process of basic physics concepts from electromagnetism and the haptic tools via simulation of magnetic forces in 3D. We have created three scenarios with different distribution of charges: point charge, line charge, and plane charge. Each scenario was properly calibrated and has different force feedback (quadratic, linear, and constant) depending on the scenario. We wanted to investigate how forces are perceived by students. A user study was carried out to assess students' perception and knowledge acquired when they were working with the system. Results suggest that students from the treatment group achieved better understanding than those from the control group. Results also indicate that 95% of the students considered that the use of haptic devices combined with appropriate virtual environments facilitated them to understand the nature and origin of electrical forces.

Component based software development has gained a lot of practical importance in the field of software engineering from academic researchers and also from industry perspective. Finding components for efficient software reuse is one of the important problems aimed by researchers. Clustering reduces the search space of components by grouping similar entities together thus ensuring reduced time complexity as it reduces the search time for component retrieval. In this research, we instigate a generalized approach for clustering a given set of documents or software components by defining a similarity function called hybrid XNOR function to find degree of similarity between two document sets or software components. A similarity matrix is obtained for a given set of documents or components by applying hybrid XNOR function. We define and design the algorithm for component or document clustering which has the input as similarity matrix and output being set of clusters. The output is a set of highly cohesive pattern groups or components.

Clustering reduces the search space of components by grouping similar entities together thus ensuring reduced time complexity as it reduces the search time for component retrieval. In this research, we instigate a new a generalized approach for clustering a given set of documents or text files or components by defining a new similarity function called hybrid XOR function for the purpose of finding degree of similarity between two document sets or software components. We construct a matrix called similarity matrix of the order n-1 by n for a given set of n documents or components or patterns by applying hybrid XOR function. We define and design the algorithm for component or document clustering which has the input as similarity matrix and output being set of clusters formed dynamically as compared to other clustering algorithms that predefine the count of clusters. The output is a set of highly cohesive pattern groups or documents. The approach can be justified as it carries out very simple computational logic and efficient in terms of processing with reduced search space and can be also be used in general for document clustering or software component clustering.
