For each smart home, the need of energy consumption supervision is necessary, which plays an important role to ensure the highest power quality and to enhance the stability of the whole grid. The current document implements a smart home supply strategy based on endless resources to reduce the electricity bill and confirm the energy balance. In this context, a proposed supervision algorithm operates in eight cases to reach optimal energy flow between renewable generators, home battery and grid in a smart home concept is presented. The system is evaluated using the framework “Business Process Model and Notation” (BPMN) Camunda basing on information stored in Firebase Cloud and results are presented in order to manifest the efficiency of this control strategy.

As China's steel production accounts for an increasing share of the world's output, the intelligent transformation of the steel industry is becoming increasingly urgent. To address issues such as low levels of mobile informationization in steel enterprises and the lack of an industry-specific mobile application platform, it is of great significance to establish a shared mobile application platform for the steel industry. In this paper, the requirements of the platform were analyzed, and the platform's functions were designed. The software design of the platform was then carried out, and the entire mobile application sharing platform was developed, effectively improving the production management efficiency of steel enterprises. The results indicate that the platform can effectively meet the needs of steel enterprises and has significant engineering significance.

A Distributed control framework for the optimal operation of DC microgrids

In this paper we propose an original distributed control framework for DC mcirogrids. We first formulate the (optimal) control objectives as an aggregative game suitable for the energy trading market. Then, based on the dual theory, we analyze the equivalent distributed optimal condition for the proposed aggregative game and design a distributed control scheme to solve it. By interconnecting the DC mcirogrid and the designed distributed control system in a power preserving way, we steer the DC microgrid's state to the desired optimal equilibrium, satisfying a predefined set of local and coupling constraints. Finally, based on the singular perturbation system theory, we analyze the convergence of the closed-loop system. The simulation results show excellent performance of the proposed control framework. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

The article defines the conditions of self-excitation of an inductive generator with capacitor excitation as part of an autonomous power source. Recommendations for the design of an autonomous power source based on an asynchronous machine in terms of the implementation of self-excitation conditions and optimal operating modes are formulated. A simulation model of an autonomous inductive generator and a solar battery for the analysis of transient, static and dynamic modes of operation has been developed. The conducted theoretical studies of capacitive self-excitation of inductive machines have created a good basis for solving problems related to the practical use of autonomous sources based on an inductive generator. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Continuous-time random disturbances from the renewable generation pose a significant impact on power system dynamic behavior. In evaluating this impact, the disturbances must be considered as continuous-time random processes instead of random variables that do not vary with time to ensure accuracy. Monte Carlo simulation (MCs) is a nonintrusive method to evaluate such impact that can be performed on commercial power system simulation software and is easy for power utilities to use, but is computationally cumbersome. Fast samplings methods such as Latin hypercube sampling (LHS) have been introduced to speed up sampling random variables, but yet cannot be applied to sample continuous disturbances. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes a fast MCs method that enables the LHS to speed up sampling continuous disturbances, which is based on the Itô process model of the disturbances and the approximation of the Itô process by functions of independent normal random variables. A case study of the IEEE 39-Bus System shows that the proposed method is 47.6 and 6.7 times faster to converge compared to the traditional MCs in evaluating the expectation and variance of the system dynamic response. © 2020 IEEE.

The paper is devoted to study of the influence of rolling modes on the performance of powerful interconnected electric drives of a hot rolling mill under the action of an electromagnetic coupling circuit between the electric drives of the roughing and finishing groups. The action of the electromagnetic coupling circuit manifests itself in the form of the influence of impact loads of synchronous electric drives on the angular velocity of direct current electric drives of the finishing group of the mill. The parameters of the electromagnetic coupling circuit are determined by the power supply scheme and equipment parameters. Values of impact loads applied to a synchronous motor depend on the rolling process parameters, in particular, the chemical composition of the rolled steel and the temperature of the ingot. The paper presents the results of calculating the rolling power for various rolling mode parameters. Using mathematical modeling in Simulink, numerical estimates of the influence of rolling modes on the magnitude of the voltage drop in the power supply unit and the drop in the angular velocity of the electric drive of the finishing group were obtained on the example of a wide-strip hot rolling mill 1700 of ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC.

To facilitate responsive and cost-effective computing resource scheduling and service delivery over edge-assisted mobile networks, this paper investigates a novel two-stage double auction methodology via utilizing an interesting idea of resource overbooking to overcome dynamic and uncertain nature from edge servers (sellers) and demand from mobile devices (as buyers). The proposed auction integrates multiple essential factors such as social welfare maximization and decision-making latency (e.g., the time for determining winning seller-buyer pairs) reduction, by introducing a stagewise strategy: an overbooking-driven pre-double auction (OPDAuction) for determining long-term cooperations between sellers and buyers before practical resource transactions as Stage I, and a real-time backup double auction (RBDAuction) for handling residual resource demands during actual transactions. In particular, by applying a proper overbooking rate, OPDAuction helps with facilitating trading contracts between appropriate sellers and buyers as guidance for future transactions, by allowing the booked resources to exceed supply. Then, since pre-auctions may cause risks, our RBDAuction adjusts to real-time market changes, further enhancing the overall social welfare. More importantly, we offer an interesting view to show that our proposed two-stage auction can support significant design properties such as truthfulness, individual rationality, and budget balance. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate good performance in social welfare, time efficiency, and computational scalability, outstripping conventional methods in dynamic edge computing settings. Large language models (LLM), ChatGPT is making substantial impact across various fields. This study for the first time presents a novel approach to the hybrid disassembly line balancing problem using LLM and reinforcement learning algorithms in remanufacturing contexts. The problem is divided into two sub-stages. LLM is innovatively used to capture a disassembly sequence well in the first stage, while reinforcement learning is utilized to address the problem in the second stage. Upon comparing the performance with and without LLM, the proposed approach significantly reduces the trial-and-error space and achieves faster convergence to achieve the desired solution. Future work of this study is also discussed.

The further decarbonization of power systems with high renewable energy penetration faces the problem of inter-day intermittence of renewable energy sources (RES) and the seasonal imbalance between RES and load demand, due to the limited regulation ability of conventional units such as thermal generation. Regular solutions based on battery energy storage system (BESS) are too costly to be practical. To address issues above, hydrogen energy storage system (HESS) and ammonia energy storage system (AESS) are introduced to gradually replace thermal generation. Specifically, first, HESS and AESS are incorporated into the multi-stage capacity expansion planning (MSCEP) model with carbon emission reduction constraints. Yearly data with hourly time resolution are utilized for each stage to accurately describe the intermittence of RES. Then, an improved column generation (CG) with Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition (DWD) embedded solution approach is used to efficiently solve the large-scale MSCEP model. Finally, a real-life system in China is studied. The results indicate that the proposed method can guarantee high power supply reliability (PSR) under different renewable energy penetration levels, avoiding the low PSR problem that may be caused by the existing typical scenario-based method (TSM) under high penetration (≥30%). Moreover, HESS and AESS are essential to reduce the cost of decarbonization. Especially under the goal of carbon neutrality, the contribution of HESS and AESS in reducing levelized cost of energy (LCOE) reaches 12.28% and 14.59%, respectively, leading to a levelized cost of carbon reduction (LCOCr) of 998 RMB/t. © 2010-2012 IEEE.
