This paper presents optimum pairing and ordering (P/O) conditions for simultaneous reduction in total capacitance, sensitivity and output noise of cascade SC filters. First, investigating relations among conditions proposed for minimizing these three parameters independently, termed, CTmin, Smin and Nmin conditions, we make it clear that there is no P/O assignment with which the three parameters can be simultaneously minimized. Then we verify that Nmin condition is valid in reducing two other parameters. Trade-off optimum conditions are proposed by combining Nmin with Smin and CTmin. These conditions can limit the number of P/O assignments, in which an optimum P/O assignment for simultaneous reduction of three parameters can be searched out easily. Depending upon applications, the trade-off optimum condition can be slightly modified by adjusting the proportion of CTmin Smin and Nmin. Efficiency of the proposed trade-off optimum conditions is confirmed through computer simulation using several kinds of filters. © 1992 IEEE.

In the last two decades, Chaos theory has received a great deal of attention from the cryptographic community. This paper presents two ideas. First idea is using chaotic functions to overcome the weaknesses of the classical Hill cipher. The second idea is proposing a new encoder-decoder architecture, called ChaoEncoDeco, for securing JPEG images. An extra stage of encryption is embedded within the traditional JPEG codec to improve security level of such system. This security stage uses one of the chaotic functions called Logistic Map. This map is used to enhance the Hill cipher and achieve more secure encryption key. The properties of both chaotic system and of the Hill cipher encryption key are all utilized to obtain ultimate secure systems. The proposed encryption algorithm is crypto-analyzed and compared to the standard Hill cipher algorithm. Complete evaluation for the proposed architecture is also performed which indicates the effectiveness of the proposed system. © 2011 IEEE.

The service-oriented environment offers the opportunity to create new applications, by combining existing applications offered as services, in order to react to the business' increasing pressure of quickly delivering new applications. With a large number of web services offering the same functionality, choosing the web services that meet best the client's quality of service (QoS) requirements is a very important task. We introduce a QoS-aware end to end web service composition approach that handles all the stages from the web service discovery step, to the actual binding of the services. This approach uses our method of expressing nonfunctional preferences, which requires minimal effort on the part of the clients, but offers great flexibility in managing trade-offs. We define a QoS preferences ontology and use it in our semantic web service selection to choose an initial candidate list of services for every task in the orchestration model. Then, one concrete service is chosen from each candidate list and is boand to the corresponding task. This step involves computing and comparing the aggregated QoS of the resulting composite services. The selection is performed using a genetic algorithm.

Among the various ways of self-expression and communication between people, communication by speaking prevails. Speech presents a significant challenge for some disabled people, such as the deaf, hearing impaired, wordless, and dumb persons. Therefore, these people rely on the use of sign language to interact with others. Sign language is a system of movements and visual messages that ensure the integration of these individuals into groups that communicate vocally. On the other side, it is necessary to understand the gestures and linguistic semantics of these individuals. The main objective of this study is to establish a new model that enhances the performance of the existing paradigms in use for the recognition of American Sign Language (ASL). Therefore, three enhanced deep-learning models of YOLOv5 for recognizing the alphabetic and numeric information conveyed by hand motions are presented in this paper. These models depend on using different attention approaches. The suggested models were evaluated using the MU HandImages ASL dataset. The proposed models yielded superior results compared to those achieved by the initial version of YOLOv5. The modified models have reached their maximum accuracy of 98.9%, maximum recall of 97.5%, maximum mAP 0.5 of 99.2%, and maximum mAP 0.5:0.95 of 98.9%. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

the paper analyzes the existing Linux virtual server (LVS) cluster load balancing algorithm and its inadequacies that not real-time dynamic full makes an appraisal to the load on the each server node, designs a new Dynamic Feedback Equalization Algorithm for Minimum Weight. The algorithm considers real-time load and response capacity of each server node, makes pre-load rate of the server combined with response time, dynamic generates server node weights by real-time feedback and conducts adjust to the load balancing of server cluster by using Minimum weight balancing algorithm. This algorithm has done a comparison with the Weighted Least Connections, theory analysis and experimental results show that the improved dynamic load balancing algorithm is more effective than Weighted Least Connections. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper describes a new way to perform automated experiments using virtual laboratories. Experiments are developed and executed using a new software tool: the Experiment Editor. This tool uses virtual laboratories applications designed with educational purposes. The main features/advantages of the Experiment Editor are: 1) the possibility of modifying the initial functionality of the laboratories (i.e. adding new controllers to the plant), 2) analyzing the obtained results during the experiment and performing complex or repetitive tasks in a simple way, 3) and any others explained in the paper. To illustrate the utility of the Experiment Editor a very well-known system is used: the water tank system. © 2016

Existing software allows the development of high quality interactive applications that permit their implementation in laboratories, both virtual and remote. To perform an experiment, the user needs to know how these applications are implemented. In addition, when coding an experiment, the user has to manage the language in which the simulation was created and needs to handle fluently a simulation language just to perform experiments. In the academic field these simulations are used to create virtual and remote laboratories. The authors propose a tool to develop automated experiments for these laboratories. It is intended that the experiments use a powerful and simple language to improve students interaction with the laboratories. That is, avoid repetitive tasks using simple algorithms, data collection and analysis of results, among other features. A new environment for the development of experiments in the authoring tool Easy Java(script) Simulations (EjsS) is proposed. It permits the decoupling of the application design phase from the experiment design. It has been equipped with a language capable of encircling all the expected commands, such as creating events, launching simultaneous applications or modifying their variables. Set with a high level layer, the language allows less experienced users to create their own experiments without having any knowledge of how the application was made. These features will be explained throughout the paper and some physic and control examples of use, as a controller for a cylindrical and a circular tank or a motion controller for a remote robot, will be given to demonstrate the potential of this new environment. © 2015, IFAC (International Federation of automatic control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. Laboratory experimentation plays an essential role in control education. To reduce the high costs of maintaining apparatus in traditional labs and to support distance and blended learning, online laboratories are used as a possible alternative to conventional hands-on labs. In these labs it is often desirable to allow students to define their own experiments. This paper presents the definition and implementation of a generic experimentation language for conducting automatic experiments on existing online laboratories. The main objective is to use an online lab, created independently, as a component in which users can perform experiments. To achieve it, authors present the Experiment Application. It is composed by Blockly, to define and design the experiments, and Google Chart, review and visualize the experiment results. This tool offers benefits to students, teachers and, even, lab designers. For the moment, it can be used with any existing lab or simulation created with the authoring tool Easy Java(script) Simulations. Since there are repositories with hundreds of free available labs created with this tool, the potential applicability of the described tool is considerable. To illustrate the utility of the Experiment Application a very well-known system is used: the Simple Harmonic Oscillator system. © 2017

A smart home allows automated technology to control systems and appliances to assist daily life activities. In the current work, a prototype of a designed smart home health-aware system is presented. Three predefined ruled agents have been used to gather data, communicate between themselves, interpret the data based on several machine learning algorithms to predict abnormality for cardiac conditions. The paper also compares results obtained by running five machine learning algorithms. The agents function in accordance with predefined dataset describing residents ' age, gender, height, weight, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose levels, smoking and alcohol consumption habits, and lastly, physical activity. Our plan is to simplify ubiquitous health monitoring for smart home's residents. The proposed solution aims to monitor parametric measurements to alert health specialists in case of emergencies. © 2023 IEEE.

Recent advancements in machine learning (ML) have significantly impacted the medical field, particularly in diagnosing and treating breast cancer. This study models the time from diagnosis to treatment for breast cancer patients, focusing on delay factors and ML-based solutions. The goal is to develop precise ML models that predict treatment delays, thereby improving the quality and efficiency of medical services. We investigated socio-economic disparities affecting treatment access and developed models to predict these delays. The predictive models used include K-Nearest Neighbors, Decision Trees, Linear Regression, and Boosting Algorithms such as AdaBoost and Gradient Boosting Regressor. By accurately predicting the interval from diagnosis to the first treatment, our work aims to promote equity in healthcare, ensuring timely treatment for all patients. Our findings highlight the potential of ML in optimizing treatment timelines and resource allocation, contributing to improved patient outcomes and advancing the medical system.
