Strength parameters of the ABS materials used in 3D printing

There is need to replace the traditional materials used in mechanical constructions with cheaper materials characterized by high durability and simplicity of manufacturing. An alternative technology is 3D printing technology that uses ABS material (poly (acrylonitrile-co-butadiene-co-styrene)). 3D printing technology ensures the rapid change of model dimensions and shapes at the prototyping stage and a relatively cheap cost of new elements. There are many plastic materials producers on the market for a 3D printer. In this paper two of them have been choosen to a comparison and their mechanical parameters have been determined. The modal analysis of this material was carried out and the obtained values of resonance frequencies were compared.

Aims. We present a campaign designed to train the GRANDMA network and its infrastructure to follow up on transient alerts and detect their early afterglows. In preparation for O4 II campaign, we focused on GRB alerts as they are expected to be an electromagnetic counterpart of gravitational-wave events. Our goal was to improve our response to the alerts and start prompt observations as soon as possible to better prepare the GRANDMA network for the fourth observational run of LIGO-Virgo-Kagra (which started at the end of May 2023), and future missions such as SM. Methods. To receive, manage and send out observational plans to our partner telescopes we set up dedicated infrastructure and a rota of follow-up adcates were organized to guarantee round-the-clock assistance to our telescope teams. To ensure a great number of observations, we focused on Swift GRBs whose localization errors were generally smaller than the GRANDMA telescopes' field of view. This allowed us to bypass the transient identification process and focus on the reaction time and efficiency of the network. Results. During'Ready for O4 II', 11 Swift/INTEGRAL GRB triggers were selected, nine fields had been observed, and three afterglows were detected (GRB 220403B, GRB 220427A, GRB 220514A), with 17 GRANDMA telescopes and 17 amateur astronomers from the citizen science project Kilonova-Catcher. Here we highlight the GRB 220427A analysis where our long-term follow-up of the host galaxy allowed us to obtain a photometric redshift of z = 0.82 ± 0.09, its lightcurve elution, fit the decay slope of the afterglows, and study the properties of the host galaxy. Conclusions. During this 8-week-long GRB follow-up campaign, we successfully fulfilled our goal of training telescope teams for O4 and the improvement of the associated technical toolkits. With half of the world already connected to the Internet, we are facing a growing amount of information available online, that is expected to increase exponentially in the following years. Educational environments are transitioning from closed structures to open, collaborative environments, using technology to build virtual classrooms. In this paper we present a customized crawler dedicated to alternative knowledge building environments used for potential community inquiry, that is unique in its power to combine data extraction and indexing capabilities that facilitate discourse-driven community network analysis integrated into the ReaderBench framework.

The Vertical handover delay is a key performance index for making a decision about vertical handover (VHO) from the LTE network to the target IEEE 802.22 network with an existing IP-address. The application of the IEEE 802.22 standard for wireless regional area network (WRAN) is actual in low population density areas, or in emergencies, or when using of other standards are impossible. The IEEE 802.22 standard is the first standard of cognitive radio, which has the status of international standard. The IEEE 802.22 standard uses so-called «white spaces» in the television (TV) frequency spectrum from 410 MHz to 862 MHz. The paper compares two switching procedures for vertical handover: with the saving of the IP-address and without saving. We used a multistage queueing system with background traffic for the analysis.

In this paper we consider infinite-dimensional discrete time-varying linear systems with coefficients in fixed set of invertible operators and we describe the set of all possible Lyapunov exponents of the system. We show that the set includes an interval bounded by the generalized spectral subradius and the generalized spectral radius.

The topic of this paper concerns a way of robotic manipulator control with use of hand gestures. The previously developed hand landmarks detection and localization algorithm is now translated to work with robotic arm manipulator. The proposed algorithm is used for hand gesture recognition and continuous feature points tracking. The points coordinates and their detected paths are transformed into set of orientation and location values in order to achieve proper motion of manipulator. The article presents the way of implementation of hand landmarks tracking algorithm and implementation of robot arm manipulator control algorithm. The main emphasis is laid on the critical problems encountered during the implementation of those two algorithms and the problem of translation of the detection coordinate system into robot task space.

The main aim of this project was to design and construct the laboratory setup to perform testing of the ABS car systems. In this paper a realistic car brake system for a one wheel with suspension is used. Development and implementation of ABS architecture for integrated real-time, embedded control software is described. At the same time, it includes an exploratory study of ABS dynamics model, monitor and sensor system, etc. The architecture design of ABS control system at the graphical programming level is then established. In addition, it provides the rapid prototyping design in ABS car system based on MPC Target and has a strong engineering application value. We emphasize the design methodology of the control system supported by rapid prototyping in Hardware in the Loop structure.

The paper discusses the design process of a full programmable logic controller implemented by means of FPGA device. The PLC is compliant with EN 61131-3 standard. It is equipped with a programmer that allows to transfer a program to the program memory of the controller, and the I/O controller which allows the exchange of information with the outside world, i.e. the signal modules. Some interesting aspects of instruction list and hardware architecture designing are presented, e.g. the PLC structure with a particular emphasis on central processing unit and memory map. The PLC is developed using one FPGA device as a combination of dedicated logic and soft-processor based parts. This gives an opportunity to develop interesting solutions. For example, using dual port RAM gives an opportunity to implement bit/word access without the necessity of masking bits. The paper presents a short description of a designed and written simple integrated development environment.

This work handles the design of a stabilization control for a high-speed craft in order to improve comfort and security in maritime transport. The goal is to damp the coupled dynamics of heave, pitch and roll by using active stabilization surfaces such as flaps, T-foil and fins. The methodology used is based on the Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT) robust technique. Two approaches depending on the degree of coupling are presented. In the first approach, controllers for the longitudinal and transversal dynamics are designed separately and afterwards the actuator coupling is considered. The second approach provides a solution in cases where the effect of the actuator coupling is large. Hence, a combination of QFT and Eigenstructure Assignment (EA) methods is used. For both methods, time-domain simulations analyses for different conditions of sea state and angles of incidence provide satisfactory results and achieve damped responses. It is shown that robust techniques based on QFT methodology result feasible and very suitable since the problem can be applied to any angle of incidence and only one controller is required for any speed or sea state. Therefore they constitute attractive alternatives in the application of a stabilization control of an advanced marine system.

Low-order feedback-feedforward controller for dead-time processes with measurable disturbances

This paper presents simple tuning rules for low-order feedback and feedforward controllers based on an approximation of the filtered Smith predictor with closed-loop feedforward compensation. An analytical development is introduced to control stable first-order plus dead time processes affected by measurable disturbances that cannot be completely removed from the process output due to dead-time effects. Simulation results for the pH control of a tubular photobioreactor and the steam pressure control of an industrial boiler are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2016
