An existing challenge in power systems is the implementation of optimal demand management through dynamic pricing. This paper encompasses the design, analysis and implementation of a novel on-line pricing scheme based on coalitional game theory. The setting consists of a network with multiple energy retailers competing to attract consumers by announcing a price in a hierarchical leader-follower structure. The process of coalition formation under such a pricing scheme can be viewed as a game for which we show that a Stackelberg equilibrium exists, i.e., given a price, consumers will respond by conforming to a reciprocal power consumption quantity. We propose a coalition formation algorithm and perform a game-theoretic stability analysis on the resulting coalitions. We integrate the pricing setting with a resistive micro-grid dynamic model. In this context we analyse the behaviour of the integrated system, bridging the gap between market and physical layers of the problem. Simulations provide a comparison of profits generated by the proposed scheme against a more traditional single retailer scheme, while simultaneously showing convergence towards a steady-state equilibrium. The aim of this paper is to improve the automation processes of electrical power substations based on IEC 61850 standard, with the focus on data management related to data structure, path, and communication model. When modelling substations items a simple and clear approach is necessary to effectively match binary or analog data from the switchyard with the IEC 61850 data object model. The study is made by simply transforming data from a single line diagram and its functionalities into object model by explaining its hierarchy structure and how to use it to create an operational process interface. This possible through the three key components of the IEC 61850 standard: Client-Server based on TCP/IP MMS (Manufacturing Messaging Specification) which perform the monitoring and control functions, GOOSE (Generic Object-Oriented Substation Event) protocol used in applications between IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Device) like interlocking signals and trip messages and Sampled Values (SV) protocol used for fast transmission of analogue values over the network.

In autonomous and mobile robotics, a principal challenge is resilient real-time environmental perception, particularly in situations characterized by unknown and dynamic elements, as exemplified in the context of autonomous drone racing. This study introduces a perception technique for detecting drone racing gates under illumination variations, which is common during high-speed drone flights. The proposed technique relies upon a lightweight neural network backbone augmented with capabilities for continual learning. The envisaged approach amalgamates predictions of the gates' positional coordinates, distance, and orientation, encapsulating them into a cohesive pose tuple. A comprehensive number of tests serve to underscore the efficacy of this approach in confronting diverse and challenging scenarios, specifically those involving variable lighting conditions. The proposed methodology exhibits notable robustness in the face of illumination variations, thereby substantiating its effectiveness.

This study explores the neurological basis of emotions using a multi-method approach, analysing functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) data obtained from a 26-channel device. Author’s primary objective was to examine the brain’s response to tasks that provoke emotional, imagery and affective reactions through the observation of hemodynamic changes in data. By applying data processing methods and techniques, cerebral activations corresponding to different emotional states were shown. This research enriches comprehension of how emotion and imagery tasks are processed by the brain and offers insights into aspects of brain activity during emotionally charged engagements.

The micro RNA-messenger RNA dynamics is a topic of constant interest. In this paper we analyze the stability of equilibria of a mathematical model associated to this interaction. After proving the existence and uniqueness of an equilibrium point in the positive ortant, we provide numerically tractable conditions (by using Linear Matrix Inequalities techniques) to check the asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point. This paper deals with the problem of signals filtering using hybrid filters. Such solutions may prove to be especially beneficial in the context of biomedical signals filtering where the signals’ amplitudes are typically not very high and they can be easily affected by different kinds of disturbances. Having a number of different types of filters tuned for some specific purposes we will show how the best filter choice is affected by selecting one ML model over another.

The integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into power grids presents a significant challenge for sustainability due to their dynamic charging demands and the need to accommodate renewable energy sources. Existing optimization methods often fail to adequately address the complexity of this problem. In this study, propose a novel approach that combines Sine Hunter-Prey Optimization (SHPO) with Gated Recurrent Units (GRUs) to dynamically optimize EV charging for sustainable power grid operation. Traditional optimization methods struggle to capture the nonlinear and time-varying nature of EV charging demands and renewable energy availability. To overcome this limitation, SHPO's ability to efficiently explore complex solution spaces and GRUs' capability to model temporal dependencies in sequential data. This proposed method optimizes EV charging schedules by considering grid stability, renewable energy utilization, and cost minimization. Validating the approach using historical data on EV charging patterns, renewable energy generation, and grid conditions. Performance metrics include grid stability indices, renewable energy integration rates, and cost savings compared to baseline strategies. Experimental results demonstrate that the method outperforms traditional optimization techniques, leading to more sustainable and resilient power grid operation with 92% stability. Overall, this study contributes to advancing the modern methods in dynamic optimization of EV charging, paving the way for more sustainable transportation and energy systems.

Touchscreen controls for Future Flight Deck Design: Investigating Visual Parameters on Human-computer Interactions between Pilot Flying and Pilot Monitoring

This study is concentrated on investigating the different visual behaviors and HCI patterns between pilot flying and pilot monitoring while interacting with touchscreen controls on the flight deck. Twelve participants with flight experiences (M=1150, SD=4019.9) attended this research. The apparatus included Future Systems Simulator (FSS), eye tracker, and system usability scale (SUS). The designated scenario in the experiment was an instrument landing. All participants were required to perform two instrument landings in two different roles, pilot flying (PF) and pilot monitoring (PM). The order of role of randomized to eliminate practice effects. The results revealed that fixation counts of pilot flying were different among four AOIs, F (3, 9) = 10.58, p = .003, ηp2 = .78. On the other hand, the FC of pilot monitoring demonstrated a significant difference among four AOIs, F (3, 8) = 8.69, p = .007, ηp2 = .77. There was a significant difference between PF and PM on the subjective assessment of SUS total score, t (11) =3.85, p = 0.003, Cohen’s d= 1.11. The application of a touchscreen can integrate input and output in the same area for visual feedback. There is a rising need to simplify the future flight deck design based on the principle of human-centered design. Conclusion: The application of touchscreen flight controls may have the potential to facilitate single-pilot operations flight deck design in the future. TSCs considerations must be consistent with human information processing and pilots’ operational characteristics on the future flight deck. © 2023 The Aeronautical and Astronautical Society of the Republic of China. LiDAR-camera extrinsic calibration (LCEC) is the core for data fusion in computer vision. Existing methods typically rely on customized calibration targets or fixed scene types, lacking the flexibility to handle variations in sensor data and environmental contexts. This paper introduces EdO-LCEC, the first environment-driven, online calibration approach that achieves human-like adaptability. Inspired by the human perceptual system, EdO-LCEC incorporates a generalizable scene discriminator to actively interpret environmental conditions, creating multiple virtual cameras that capture detailed spatial and textural information. To overcome cross-modal feature matching challenges between LiDAR and camera, we propose dual-path correspondence matching (DPCM), which leverages both structural and textural consistency to achieve reliable 3D-2D correspondences. Our approach formulates the calibration process as a spatial-temporal joint optimization problem, utilizing global constraints from multiple views and scenes to improve accuracy, particularly in sparse or partially overlapping sensor views. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that EdO-LCEC achieves state-of-the-art performance, providing reliable and precise calibration across diverse, challenging environments.
