Prediction represents an important component of resource management, providing information about the future state, utilization and availability of resources. We propose a new prediction algorithm inspired from the decomposition of a complex wave into simpler waves with fixed frequencies (similar to Fourier decomposition). The partial results obtained from this decomposition stage are combined using approaches inspired from artificial intelligence models. The experimental results for different system parameters, used in Alice experiment, highlight the great improvement, discussed in terms of error reduction, offered by this new prediction algorithm. The tests were made using real-time monitoring data provided by a system monitoring tool, in the case of one-step and multi-step ahead prediction. The prediction's results can be used by the resource management systems in order to improve the scheduling decisions, assuring the load balancing and optimizing the resource utilization. © 2010 IEEE.

Our proposal is aimed at achieving reliable task allocation in cooperative agent-controlled systems by means of introspection on control-oriented features. This new approach is beneficial as it improves the way agents can coordinate with each other to perform the proposed tasks in a real cooperative environment. Introspection aims at including reliable control-oriented knowledge of the controlled systems in the agents' decision-making. To that end, control-grounded capabilities, inspired by the agent metaphor, are used in the task utility/cost functions. Such control-grounded capabilities guarantee an appropriate agent-oriented representation of the specifications and other relevant details encapsulated in every automatic controller of the controlled systems. In particular, this proposal is demonstrated in the successful performing of rescue operations by cooperative mobile robots in a simulated environment. Experimental results and conclusions are shown, stressing the relevance of this new approach in the sure and trustworthy attainment of allocated tasks for improving multi-agent performance. © 2007 EUCA.

This paper presents a method for improving linear controllers once they have been designed using any linear technique. The controller enhancement is achieved by the introduction of a block which varies two parameters according to the error amplitude. It is also presented a stability condition for the designs, based on previous stability results for switching systems. Both the design method and the stability criterion are easy to use for a control engineer, even not being a specialist on switching control. A classical two-mass-spring benchmark control problem is also presented to illustrate the new technique. ©2007 IEEE.

This paper presents the modeling and identification of a real industrial furnace (900 kW, 38 m) used to cure large laminated composite pieces. The system exhibits a multi variable configuration with seven inputs (heat resistors and fans) and seven outputs (temperature sensors). A very complex MIMO dynamic model is carried out by solving the heat transfer equations obtained from analogous electrical circuits that represent the multi-zone heat exchange. A set of experiments have to be designed in the mentioned industrial furnace in order to generate a useful real data collection which reliably allows to identify the parameters of the multivariable model. © 2003 International Federation of automatic control.

The SORMSYS project's main goal is to optimize resource management in large scale distributed systems with the capability of self-organization. This paper will present the design of management architecture based on existing middleware solutions through the design of algorithms and methods inspired by natural models. The architecture is full decentralized and it will aim to optimize resource management in different types of distributed systems such as Grid, P2P, and Cloud. The important components considered for the architecture are: allocation of resources, task scheduling, resource discovery, monitoring resources and provide fault tolerance. The SORMSYS project aims to highlights the original obtained results in internationally scientific community. The paper also presents the expecting results and discusses the performance evaluation of proposed architecture. © 2010 IEEE.

This paper presents a distributed solution of the synchronization of Business Intelligence (BI) Systems via networking services. The main problem addressed by the proposed project is to create a common solution that allows automatically redeploying of business intelligence applications among different servers located in the Internet. A case study by using the Microsoft BizTalk Server as a Business Intelligence system is presented included in a research project called PrO Processor. The research came as a necessity because of the lack of support for remote deployment of applications via Internet. Our solution overcomes this issue and presents the synchronization architecture capable of transporting, installing and starting BI applications, orchestrations and ports to any number of BI servers in the Internet. © 2010 IEEE.

We consider the problem of reconstructing the initial states of an ensemble of linear systems from output measurements that are anonymized in the sense that the association between output measurements and systems in the ensemble is lost. Building on our previous works, in this paper we consider the situation in which there are couplings between the different systems in the ensemble. We demonstrate that for a particular class of coupled ensembles, the coupled problem can be efficiently reduced to the well-established uncoupled case. This class consists of groups of homogeneous linear systems that are coupled through all-to-all diffusive coupling. By virtue of the reduction to the uncoupled case, we are able to formulate non-pathological sampling results for the specific coupled case. Furthermore, we illustrate the theoretical techniques by means of a practical simulation example. © 2016

Data mining is the discovery of knowledge and useful information from the large amounts of data stored in databases. The emerging data mining tools and systems lead to the demand of a powerful data mining query language. The concepts of such a language for relational databases are discussed before. With the increasing popularity of object-oriented databases, it is important to design a data mining query language for such databases. The main objective of this paper is to propose an Object Data Mining Query Language (ODMQL) for object-oriented databases as an extension to the Object Query Language (OQL) proposed by the Object Data Management Group (ODMG) as a standard query language for object-oriented databases. The proposed language is implemented as a feature of an experimental objectoriented database management system that is developed as a testbed for research issues of object-oriented databases. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2001.

The paper deals with a power measurement methods and higher harmonics in circuit with LED light sources. The laws on the electric power quality in Poland has been presented. Current and voltage waveforms are analysed. The frequency spectrum of the current circuit is presented. The coefficients of power quality were determined and reference to the standard. An important challenge in the design and implementation of self-optimizing systems is that of finding a model that maps changes in a tunable parameter (or "knob") into an effect on the performance, power, or energy, of the overall system. This paper describes ARPE (Analyzing the Relationship between Parameters and Effectors), an open source tool to analyze the effect of parameter changes on the behavior of applications in a complex system with interrelated knobs. We evaluate ARPE in several case studies on real systems with different sensors and parameters. Our results show that ARPE can help determine the best sensors for a system designed to predict application execution time. For space limitations, only one case study is here shown, demonstrating that the error of modeling energy consumption is limited to the range 0.110% for previously unseen benchmarks. © 8th International Workshop on Feedback Computing 2013.
