This study investigates the intelligent systems to evaluate walking interventions on skin thickness using Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). The walking durations of 10 and 20 min were conducted with participants wearing insoles providing 160 mmHg air pressure. Skin thickness in the stratum corneum (SC) and epidermis (ED) was measured at four-foot regions: the big toe (T1), first metatarsal (M1), second metatarsal (M2), and heel (HL). Results revealed a significant decrease in SC at HL after 20 min of walking. This finding suggests that prolonged walking with air-pressure insoles may reduce mechanical stress at HL and could contribute to preventing and managing diabetic foot ulcers.

This paper presents the design and implementation of an active control mechanism for noise cancellation and vibration suppression within an adaptive control framework. A control mechanism is designed within a feedforward control structure on the basis of optimum cancellation at an observation point. The design relations are formulated such that to allow on-line design and implementation and thus result in a self-tuning control algorithm. The algorithm is implemented on an integrated digital signal processing (DSP) and transputer system. Simulation results verifying the performance of the algorithm are presented and discussed. The fuzzy set theory established by L. A. Zadeh has started anew period in formalizing a decision-making processes in ill-defined systems where a human being (operator) is an important element in the control loop. The control algorithm used here is based on a generalized fuzzy version of modus ponens (compositional rule of inference) where a set of decision-making rules forming a control algorithm is given. The aim of this paper is to present some problems which may appear in the initial stage off design of a decisionmaking algorithm and discuss a method of their formulation. We introduce notions like the completeness of algorithm, interactivity and the competitivity of control rules and consider indices illustrating the presented design aspects.
