Flow mixing is an important process for many microfluidic applications. Efficient mixing is difficult in microscale channels owing to laminar flow. Disturbing the flow stream by modifying channel geometries or embedding barriers improves the mixing rate. In this study, a three-dimensional (3-D) passive micromixer with propeller blades fabricated by two-photon polymerization (TPP) technology is embedded in the channel for fluid mixing. The propeller blades are designed to disturb the laminar flow in three dimensions to improve the mixing rate. Screw-shaped and flat blades are compared. The experimental results indicate that the screw-shaped propeller provides additional streamlines in the Z direction, which enhances the mixing efficiency. Finally, this phenomenon was verified through simulation.

This article concerned on the mechanism of functioning of two multi-comparational algorithms, that is: CMCA (Classic Multi-Comparational Algorithm) and OMCA (Optimised Multi-Comparational Algorithm). The range and possibility of application of frequency descriptors that explicitly characterise the acoustic emission (AE) signals from partial discharges (PD) were described. The method for selection of quantity of the standard waveforms for the purpose of the classification process, carried out using the tested algorithms was presented. In addition, there were showed results of the simulation, performed using the proposed algorithms and two databases containing the AE signal waveforms generated by basic forms of PD, which can occur in insulation systems of transformers. The efficiency of CMCA and OMCA algorithms in application for AE signals generated by PD, as well as the reason to complete the developed database by another class of waveforms due to the defect of insulation system that not being catalogued previously was demonstrated in the study.

Analysis results of vibro-acoustic signals generated by operation of a micro wind turbine that is installed on the roof of Electric Power Institute, opoleuniversity of technology are presented in the paper. Mast vibrations of the turbine under study have been measured under different weather conditions, i.e. by various wind speeds. A frequency analysis by use of the MUSIC method was performed. Shown results depict changes of frequency components appearing in the spectrum of the measured signals.

Subject matter of this paper deals with issues of the environmental impact of infrasound noise associated with operation of low-power wind turbines. It is now the current and relevant problem for both the cognitive and utilitarian standpoint. There is now a considerable growth in the number of such installations in Poland, Europe and in the world, due to the possibility of locating them on existing building roofs in heavily urbanized areas, and without having to build additional supporting structures. As part of the study, measurements of low frequency acoustic signals generated during operation of micro turbine equipped with a rotor of vertical axis of rotation relative to the wind direction have been performed. Analyses were carried out in order to determine the impact of wind speed and selected meteorological parameters on the level of infrasound signals emitted by the test turbine. In addition, frequency analysis of the recorded signals was performed. Then, the obtained results were subjected to comparative analysis. In summary, the achieved results were referred to the limits of sound pressure intensity level of infrasound signals as specified for the working environment in accordance with the Polish Standard PN-Z-01338.

This thesis presents an implementation of Finite Element Method (FEM), with focus on sparse matrix solving methods using NVIDIA CUDA devices. Development of an application GPU_FEM that implements Finite Element Method has been presented. The calculation results and calculation times have been compared for different hardware configuration as well as for different algorithms. Presented tests show up to 70 times faster sparse matrix solving in comparison to FEMM application.

The aim of this work was to design and create a multi-threaded computer application for field integral parameters calculation named PikSolver. Scope of the work included project of the system, implementation of mathematical algorithms and developing a computer application running on Windows operating system which performs multi-threaded calculations of integral parameters of the electromagnetic field. The multi-threaded application allows user to conduct multivariant electromagnetic field distribution calculations, determine differential and integral parameters of the electromagnetic field for both the static and the quasi-static field including sinusoidal alternating current excitation. Results of the calculations allow user to compare them to the parameters set by the Finite Element Analysis programs.

The aim of this project is to develop an application which allows the user to automatize solving problems based on differential equations. The user of the application which was created especially for this thesis should have the possibility of defining equations by the graphical block diagramming interface. The application includes two different kinds of solving methods: local and distributed one. In these two cases every part of solving algorithm (which can work independently) is parallelized. The FEMM program was included in the solver module as an external one. A modification of FEMM program source has been done. Thus, the new LUA language features (shared memory and sockets communication commands) have been added.

Results of scientific research works considering selection of measuring transducer applied for registration of acoustic emission signals generated by on load tap changers are presented in the paper. During the coupling process acoustic emission signals are generated by: the mechanical setup of tap changer, contacts operation, and other phenomena. For most on load tap changers types, the working medium is insulation oil in which the acoustic wave being formed propagates to the steal tank. There exists a possibility to register acoustic emission signals with a piezoelectric transducer attached to the outer tank surface or with a hydrophone immersed in the oil. Acoustic emission signal obtained in such manner contains information which describes operation of the power tap changer and the selector. A comparative analysis of acoustic emission signals generated by on load tap changers working under laboratory conditions, with applied measuring transducers with different transmittances, is presented in the paper. The comparative analysis was performed in order to determine their suitability for on load tap changers technical condition diagnosis. Based on the results achieved, one transducer which allows the registration of acoustic events generated during on load tap changers operation was selected.
