Due to the high performance on state tracking and predicting, particle filter (PF) algorithm has been utilized for diagnosis and prognosis in a variety of areas. Especially, PF can provide uncertainty representation and management on estimating the remaining useful life (RUL) of components and systems. However, particle degeneracy phenomenon limits its performance and application in most of the situations. Therefore, several re-sampling algorithms are proposed to alleviate this problem. Thus, different re-sampling algorithms should be focused and studied for the adaptability and applicability in RUL estimation. This work aims to compare the capabilities of different re-sampling algorithms and evaluate the performance in lithium-ion battery RUL prediction. Four re-sampling algorithms including multinomial re-sampling, residual re-sampling stratified re-sampling and systematic re-sampling are involved and analyzed. Actual battery test data sets from NASA PCoE are used to conduct experiments for evaluation and comparison. Moreover, some quantitative analysis metrics are applied to compare the results of battery RUL estimation.

Identification and Quantification of Hazards Caused by Uncontained Engine Rotor Failure

One approach based on AC20-128A is presented in order to assess the risk caused by uncontained engine rotor failure (UERF). In this approach, the risk assessment procedure includes hazard identification and hazard quantification. In the step of hazard identification, the catastrophic functional hazards, derived from the functional hazard analysis (FHA) results for the airplane, are used as the top events to construct the fault trees. The minimal cut sets (MSCs) of the fault trees are the hazards to be identified exactly. In the step of hazard quantification, the probability of one hazard triggered by some uncontained debris is evaluated. After the probabilities of all the identified hazards are quantified, the risk assessment of the airplane is completed. And the assessment result is compared with the design specifications to show compliance with the safety design. A small example is introduced to illustrate the rationality and accuracy of the aforementioned method.

In this paper, an approach to explicit interpolation-based MPC of constrained nonlinear systems is proposed, which is based on the ideas in [9], [10] for explicit constrained control of linear systems by applying interpolation techniques. The developed approach can be considered as an extension of the method in [9], [10] in the following directions: (i) nonlinear discrete-time systems are considered, which are regulated to the origin by solving an NMPC problem, (ii) a method for construction of a convex approximation of the feasible set for the formulated NMPC problem is suggested, (iii) the vertex control (the control values at the vertices of the approximate feasible set) is determined by solving the NMPC problem, instead of maximizing the control action, (iv) an algorithm for explicit interpolation-based NMPC is developed, where the explicit approximate solution is defined on a simplicial partition of the convex approximate feasible set. The proposed approach is illustrated on a numerical example.

N-grams are a building block in natural language processing and information retrieval. It is a sequence of a string data like contiguous words or other tokens in text documents. In this work, we study how N-gram can be computed efficiently using a MapReduce for distributed data processing and a distributed database named Hbase This technique is applied to construct the training and testing processes using Hadoop MapReduce framework and Hbase. We proposed to focus on the time cost and storage size of the model and exploring different structures of Hbase table. By constructing and comparing a different table structures on training 100 million words for unigram, bigram and trigram models we suggest a table based on half ngram structure is a more suitable choice for distributed language model. The results of this work can be applied in the cloud computing and other large scale distributed language processing areas.

This paper presents a new method to estimate rotor position indirectly for 12/8 switched reluctance motor (SRM). In this method, searching windings and main windings are wound on stator together. The structure of searching windings is designed to reduce induced voltages caused by main windings. High frequency voltage is applied to searching windings and the position signal is derived from induced high frequency signals. High frequency voltage can be injected from standstill to high speed in this method, thus it can operate in a wide speed range. The proposed method is implemented on a 12/8 SRM and the experimental results demonstrate the validity of this method.

With the rapid growth of wind energy installed capacity, optimized maintenance has gained increasingly attentions from both researchers and wind farm owners. Condition-based maintenance (CBM) has been introduced to the wind energy industry in order to ensure the availability and safety of the wind energy conversion (WEC) system, while minimize the operating and maintenance (O&M) costs. In this paper a maintenance decision support system is introduced. By combining the information delivered by the data-driven WEC condition monitoring system and the economical benefits of each possible corrective maintenance action, the decision support system provides the operators with a choice of the most proper maintenance action for the current situation. The performance of the decision support system is tested with data collected from different WECs in a wind farm. © IFAC.

This paper deals with the task assignment problem, which represents a major issue in dynamical formation control. The formation is defined in terms of a group of homogeneous dynamical agents. The position of each agent in the formation is predetermined by pre-imposing the distance between each pair of agents. Recently by using set-theoretic methods, the task assignment has been formulated in terms of an optimization problem allowing to keep the agents in a tight formation in real-time. In this paper we revisit these results and propose a new algorithm for the task assignment formulation in view of real-time control by including fault detection and isolation capabilities. The proposed methods will be illustrated by means of a numerical example.

Cooperative guidance for multiple flight vehicles against single moving target is studied in this paper. Two finite-time consensus protocols are developed for multi-agent system with input saturation which underlay the design of cooperative guidance law. The cooperative guidance approaches are investigated to solve the many-to-one interception problem, where two novel guidance laws considering the actuator saturation are proposed to guarantee multiple flight vehicles can intercept the target simultaneously. Simulations for a three-to-one scenario are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design approaches.

This paper deals with the synthesis of fuzzy controller applied to the induction motor with a guaranteed model reference tracking performance. First, the Takagi-Sugeno （T-S） fuzzy model is used to approximate the nonlinear system in the synchronous d-q frame rotating with field-oriented control strategy. Then, a fuzzy state feedback controller is designed to reduce the tracking error by minimizing the disturbance level. The proposed controller is based on a T-S reference model in which the desired trajectory has been specified. The inaccessible rotor flux is estimated by a T-S fuzzy observer. The developed approach for the controller design is based on the synthesis of an augmented fuzzy model which regroups the model of induction machine, fuzzy observer, and reference model. The gains of the observer and controller are obtained by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities （LMIs）. Finally, simulation and experimental results are given to show the performance of the observer-based tracking controller.
