The current paper presents an overview of a general architecture that provides remote access to industrial plants. In this paper the components of the architecture are described in detail, focusing on the key element of the architecture, which is the Application Server. This architecture has been applied to a case study consisting of a manufacturing cell to provide users located anywhere on the Internet remote access to the system under control.

Assembly and disassembly tasks are examples of "unfriendly" operations for humans. This paper presents research efforts in order to improve the operations of mobile structures for difficult environments. The operation of autonomous mobile robots in a real-world unstructured environment requires consideration of multiple issues. The controller must be able to operate under conditions of imprecision and uncertainty (e.g. prior knowledge about the environment is incomplete, uncertain, and approximate, the dynamics of real-world environments is complex and unpredictable). To cope with these difficulties, the controller must be able to respond reactively to unforeseen events as soon as they are perceived.

Software testing is a very important phase for software project process. It is a very difficult job for a software manager to allocate optimally the financial budget to a software project during testing. This article considers the problem of optimal allocation of the software testing cost. There exist several models focused on the development of software costs measuring the number of software errors remaining in the software during testing. The purpose of this paper is to use these models to formulate the optimization problems of resource allocation: Minimization of the total number of software errors remaining in the system;On the condition of assuming that a software project consists of some independent modules, the presented approach extends previous works by defining new goal functions and extending the primary assumption and precondition.

Multi-process job schedule is a very difficult problem often faced by project managers. This study initially considers the problem of small-scale multi-process job schedule by using Stochastic Petri Nets (SPNs) technique. The SPNs model of multi-process job schedule is come up with in the paper, and then the basic steps of search algorithm for job schedule are put forward successively. On the bases of these works, the multi-process job schedule algorithm is given, and the schedule strategies are discussed at same time. For getting the optimal solution of the small-scale multi-process job schedule, the algorithm based on the random search strategy is proposed and the analysis of result believing rate is also discussed. The example of how using the search algorithm to plan the job based on SPNs is given at the last of paper.

This paper is concerned with an application study of model-based fault detection method to a ship propulsion system. When modeling the object system, Quasi-ARMAX model with multi-model form is used. In this model, the system non-linearity is incorporated into model parameters by using non-linear non-parametric models (NNMs). Kullback discrimination Information (KDI) is introduced as fault detection index to evaluate the distortion in identified model, which is caused by a fault. The effectiveness of the method is verified through simulation studies on the ship propulsion system.

Tracking feedback control trade-offs increase dangerously with arbitrarily large uncertainties in the process model. This is shown by the bounds in the QFT domain. In this context, the paper develops a theory on the contribution of the plant uncertainty to the tracking QFT bounds through a serious study of tracking bound formulas. From this, a methodology for uncertainty fragmentation is developed. It hopes to loosen the bound toughness, or the control design trade-offs. Better feedback benefits can be achieved while reducing the high-frequency amplification of noises and disturbances at the plant input at the same time. Different QFT controllers in a controller-scheduler structure should drive different uncertainty boundaries.

With the propagation of applications on the internet, the internet has become a great information source which supplies users with valuable information. But it is hard for users to quickly acquire the right information on the web. This paper an intelligent agent for internet applications to retrieve and extract web information under user's guidance. The intelligent agent is made up of a retrieval script to identify web sources, an extraction script based on the document object model to express extraction process, a data translator to export the extracted information into knowledge bases with frame structures, and a data reasoning to reply users' questions. A GUI tool named Script Writer helps to generate the extraction script visually, and knowledge rule databases help to extract wanted information and to generate the answer to questions.
