Blockchain is a booming technology. More and more applications are being developed in the field of banking, security, document storage, smart contracts, etc. This article proposes an exploratory research of blockchain technology and of the companies involved in the field. The article also presents an overview of some solutions for storing certificates using blockchain technology. After analyzing these existing applications, the paper proposes an architectural design and working scenario for deploying a system to storing diplomas issued by the University Politehnica of Bucharest using the blockchain technology. Finally, the conclusions and future work are presented. © 2021 IEEE.

The paper analyzes the preparation of software for acoustic signal classification with machine learning techniques for microcontrollers. The design process was tested for three types of devices: Nordic Thingy:53, *** and Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense Lite. The classifier training process was carried out using the Edge Impulse platform. Experimental studies were carried out for the process of classifying sound signals generated by the vacuum cleaner motor. The results of the training and the model test were presented for different configurations.

Based on today's modern technologies, patient care can be provided remotely, in a connected way, being, at the same time, personalized, patient-centered and proactive. Such an approach can be achieved using Remote Health Monitoring systems (RHMS). In case of elderly people, dramatic permanent deteriorations of their health status can be caused by falls. The seniors' health and life style monitoring and the detection and/or prevention of falls can be done by such RHMS, an example being the RO-SmartAgeing system developed inside 'Non-invasive Monitoring System and Health Assessment of the Elderly in a Smart Environment (RO-SmartAgeing)' research project. The paper presents the problem of using microservices for optimizing the architecture and functionalities of RO-SmartAgeing system, and the way in which the problems of ensuring the security of patient data can be solved. © 2023 IEEE.

The nonlinear program arising in nonlinear model predictive control can be simplified by constructing candidate active sets for the successor state. Instead of modifying the optimization algorithm directly, we use these active sets to anticipate the relevant constraints for the next time step and to solve a simplified nonlinear program. Since active sets are in general valid for a set of initial states, an inherent robustness with respect to additive disturbances results.

In this work, an attempt is made for the first time to use the measurement pattern generated by morphological transformation quantified by Hausdorff fractal dimension (HFD) and classified with ensemble learning based on bagging. The proposed work uses three morphological transformations for image preprocessing: hit-and-miss transform (HMT), white (WHT), and black top-hat (BHT). The pattern texture of US breast images is described by extracting the HFD from the regions of interest (ROI) after the ultrasound (US) images have been preprocessed. The main objective of this study was achieved by comparatively analyzing the classification performance of features using the Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET) classifier, and bagging ensemble method based on XGBoot classifier. In presented study, the XGBoost classifier and BHT image processing method give an accuracy of 89.8% in a binary classification, benign versus malignant breast cancer.

In the case of medical emergencies where the victim cannot respond to questions, the first responders risk harming the patient if they are not aware of the underlaying conditions and medication. Vulnerable people often carry accessories that contain critical information, either in plain text or in the form of smartphone-scannable codes that redirect to webpages. The problem with relying on internet servers alone is that they can be unresponsive in the time of need. Lifeline aims to solve this problem by using blockchain to store vital backup data.

In this article the review of the existing manufacturing technologies of the soft magnetic materials have been performed. The existing technological protocols for production of the electrically insulated powders and their further treatment towards manufacturing of the soft magnetic materials are provided. The influences of different technological processes on the mechanical, electrical and magnetic properties of the resulting soft magnetic materials have been reviewed and described. Finally, the usage and implementation of the soft magnetic composites in the field of electric motor design have been discussed.

This paper deals with the design of an Android mobile application and visualization of the measured values of particulate matter and meteorological factors from the measurement stations. The application can in principle be effectively used in any field of data visualization. The architecture of the mobile application, the security, the use of AWS services to access the data in the InfluxDB databases, as well as the user interface and graphical visualizations of the measured data are described and illustrated. The application is user tested and the paper documents their first experiences using the mobile application. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper deals with stochastic model predictive control (SMPC) based on polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) for linear systems with time-invariant stochastic parametric uncertainties and time-varying stochastic additive disturbances subject to chance constraints on states and inputs. Exploiting terminal ingredients in the SMPC problem and a hybrid update strategy, a recursively feasible optimization problem is formulated. Moreover, stability of the system of PCE coefficients can be shown. Furthermore, in the paper the performance and computational complexity of SMPC based on PCEs is compared to tube-based SMPC and robust model predictive control (RMPC) is analyzed and benefits are demonstrated in simulation.

This work presents the results of the examination of the HeLa cell line exposure on the ELF-EMF (extremely low-frequency electromagnetic field). In particular, the relationship between ELF-EMF exposition time and cell death. The examination of cell death hallmarks were examined by estimation levels of selected proteins - FACL4 (a protein that is a part of the ferroptosis pathway) and CK18 (Cytokeratin related to necrosis and apoptosis pathways) in the proposed model of workers exposed to ELF-EMF week.
