This paper studies symmetric constrained linear-quadratic optimal control problems and their parametric solutions. The parametric solution of such a problem is a piecewise-affine feedback law that can be equivalently expressed as a set of active sets. We show symmetries of the optimal control problem entail symmetries of the active sets, which can be used to simplify finding the set of active sets considerably. Specifically, we improve a recently proposed method for the dynamic-programming-based enumeration of all active sets. The achieved reduction of the computational effort is illustrated with an example. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

The use of Agriculture Intelligent systems (AISs) in Iraq has become popular among farmers. The greenhouse is a solution for plant growth, which uses an effective microclimate to simulate seasons and to use alternative energy sources like solar, thermal, and photovoltaic systems for microclimate control. Greenhouses are considered a successful solution with developments and achievements in the technology of this field. However, problems like high costs, difficulties in installation and maintenance, or the need for some procedures should be considered. Because Iraq is close to the equator (3669 km), it receives sufficient solar power. It also has large areas available for the building of solar greenhouse systems. The farmers need an affordable and functional smart greenhouse to enable and encourage them to use the environment efficiently. We intend to develop low-cost, accurate, and easy-to-use greenhouse systems controlled by artificial intelligence algorithms. Farmers will be able to control the greenhouse by using simple commands. Machine learning algorithms provide real-time and effective analysis that could support farmers in decision-making and provide relevant data for researchers and policymakers. AISs algorithms can lead to a sustainable and productive agriculture system. The system can be used in Iraq with sufficient government support and subsidy. © 2022 IEEE.

Frailty is a clinical syndrome prevalent among the older population, characterized by unintentional weight loss, exhaustion being associated with a decline in cognitive and physiological functions. Ambient Assisted Living can be used for coping through solutions based on smart devices that help older people to cope with frailty. This paper develops a predictive optimisationbased iterative learning control (ILC) strategy for the highperformance formation control problem in networked dynamical systems working repetitively. It avoids the need for exact model information in traditional methods and achieves high performance via a predictive framework incorporating a unique performance index that integrates both immediate and future performance. The proposed framework guarantees geometric convergence of the formation error norm to zero and is capable of handling both heterogeneous and non-minimum phase systems. A distributed implementation of the framework is developed using the Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers to guarantee the framework’s scalability for largescale networks. Rigorous convergence analysis and numerical examples are provided to confirm its effectiveness.

Technology adoption in healthcare services has resulted in advancing care delivery services and improving the experiences of patients. This paper presents research that aims to find the important requirements for a remote monitoring system for patients with COVID-19. As this pandemic is growing more and more, there is a critical need for such systems. In this paper, the requirements and the value are determined for the proposed system, which integrates a smart bracelet that helps to signal patient vital signs. (376) participants completed the online quantitative survey. According to the study results, Most Healthcare Experts, (97.9%) stated that the automated wearable device is very useful, it plays an essential role in routine healthcare tasks (in early diagnosis, quarantine enforcement, and patient status monitoring), and it simplifies their routine healthcare activities. I addition, the main vital signs based on their expert opinion should include temperature (66% of participants) and oxygenation level (95% of participants). These findings are essential to any academic and industrial future efforts to develop these vital wearable systems. The future work will involve implementing the design based on the results of this study and use machine-learning algorithm to better detect the COVID-19 cases based on the monitoring of vital signs and symptoms. © 2021 IEEE.

Digitalization of health, healthcare and healthcare delivery unequivocal have positive consequences contributing to health system goals, but they also might have some negative ones which have to be avoided or mitigated. The scope of this paper is to introduce the necessity of the assessment of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and to identify the most appropriate and important criteria needed for the evaluation and comparison of functional digital healthcare solutions. In this paper, moment matching-based loop shaping design for finite-dimensional linear systems is considered. First, the time-domain moment matching model reduction problem with complex-conjugated pole-zero placement is revisited. We explicitly calculate the free parameters such that the reduced order model, achieving moment-matching at complex-conjugated interpolation points, has pairs of complex-conjugated poles and zeros placed in desired locations. Then, we recast the problem of closed-loop pole placement in terms of moment-matching, with the moments equal to −1 and 0, respectively. Consequently, the free parameters of a model achieving both moment matching at complex-conjugated points and closed-loop pole placement at prescribed locations are determined. Furthermore, we combine the classical loop shaping method with closed-loop pole placement via moment matching to design a robust controller for stable, minimum-phase, proper systems. We illustrate the proposed moment matching-based loop shaping approach on a benchmark example.

Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) identifies user thinking through different electrophysiological signals. These signals are detected through electrodes placed on the scalp, and the neuronal activity of the cortical is collected by electrodes implanted inside the brain. Regardless of reasons, limbs losses affect a large percentage of the world's people yearly. The necessity for solutions for those having these conditions can be related to health issues and research. Myoelectric and other types of prostheses are currently in use, but it has some drawbacks like the high-price, heaviness, and the dependency on the intact nerves. These drawbacks can be overcome using electroencephalography (EEG) mind-controlled prosthesis arm. The mind-controlled prosthesis arm uses EEG non-invasive technique which provides powerful help for disabled persons in their daily activities, particularly to help arm amputees move their prosthesis arm easily. In this paper, we present a quantitative questionnaire to identify and validate the user's functional and non-functional requirements and to know how users want to interact with the system. We aim to build inexpensive, lightweight, and smart functional prosthesis arm according to functional and non-functional requirements to meet users' goals and requirements. The participants' interests and recommendations are considered while designing and building a smart functional prosthesis arm system. This is one of the very few surveys that handle the user's requirements of a mind-controlled prosthesis arm according to the amputees and specialists' opinions. © 2021 IEEE.
