In the pursuit of sustainable electricity generation from offshore wind and wave energy, the combination of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWTs) and Oscillating Water Columns (OWCs) has emerged as a promising solution to enhance the working lifespan of this kind of systems. This study introduces a control-focused modeling approach, using empirical data collected from the widely accepted FAST environment, to implement advanced control laws for these integrated platforms. Leveraging Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), the research yields predictive models that effectively capture the platform pitch dynamics so as to optimize control strategies. By integrating advanced machine learning techniques, these approaches address the challenges of modeling floating offshore structures in dynamic environments. In this sense, the neuro-estimators developed in this study closely match the original plant results, offering researchers a straightforward way to implement complex control schemes that could hardly be implemented over the original non-linear system. © 2025 The Author(s).

The latest EASA recommendations from 2024 indicate the possibility of using machine learning techniques in aerodrome monitoring. The aim of the work was to analyze solutions and prepare FOD (Foreign Object Debris) object detection software on aerodromes. In order to implement the issue, a dataset of photos and video recordings for testing algorithms was developed. The dataset consists of 1480 photos showing FOD at aerodromes and photos of the runway itself, according to EASA and FAA recommendations. FOD detection was implemented using a classical, k-means method and effective YOLOv5. © 2024 Division of Signal Processing and Electronic systems, Poznan University of Technology (DSPES PUT).

This paper describes the solutions submitted by the UPB team to the AuTexTification shared task, featured as part of IberLEF-2023. Our team participated in the first subtask, identifying text documents produced by large language models instead of humans. The organizers provided a bilingual dataset for this subtask, comprising English and Spanish texts covering multiple domains, such as legal texts, social media posts, and how-to articles. We experimented mostly with deep learning models based on Transformers, as well as training techniques such as multi-task learning and virtual adversarial training to obtain better results. We submitted three runs, two of which consisted of ensemble models. Our best-performing model achieved macro F1-scores of 66.63% on the English dataset and 67.10% on the Spanish dataset. © 2023 Copyright for this paper by its authors. Measuring luminous intensity using electronic sensors requires their precise positioning. In the case of mobile measurement platforms, it is important to detect the light source and thus determine the correct direction of movement of the measuring device. This article presents research on a solution for the initial detection of glowing airport lamps based on camera images. The impact of the selection of parameters and image processing methods on the prepared data set was assessed. The histogram filtration method was introduced to improve the effectiveness of airport lamp localization. The proposed solution was investigated in different weather and daytime conditions. In health care, it is crucial to organize patient care and resources based on the urgency level so that patients whose lives are in danger are treated as a priority. This study introduces a new algorithm, created in C# using new technologies such as ChatGPT, to improve the sorting and prioritizing of patients based on the National Urgency Level. The algorithm aims to demonstrate the possibility of real-time reporting of the occupancy level of all hospitals. This way, patients can head to the nearest and most available hospital based on both proximity and urgency level. To identify the urgency level, the algorithm utilizes a widely used external service, ChatGPT. Additionally, the algorithm calculates the average waiting time based on the number of patients, their urgency level, and the number of on-duty doctors. To achieve these goals, the algorithm's implementation has been carried out using modern technologies, such as C# programming language, ranging from the artificial intelligence service ChatGPT to entity framework for managing data in the Microsoft database. The article addresses two major issues, namely text-based classification into a specific category based on common characteristics, such as a patient's symptoms concerning a specific urgency level. The second issue is represented by the proposed calculation formula for real-time estimation of waiting time, based on the identified urgency level. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

This article presents an optimized control strategy tailored for DC islanded microgrids, featuring a voltage controller based on mixed H2/H∞ state feedback using linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) and a power controller guided by droop characteristics. A polytopic modeling approach addresses system uncertainties and nonlinearities. The controller aims to stabilize the system, reject disturbances, equitably distribute power among distributed generation units (DGUs), and minimize energy consumption. Regional pole placement ensures welldamped transient responses. Simulation results demonstrate effective management of load perturbations and DGU disconnections, with a comparative analysis against an H∞ controller offering additional insights into performance. © 2025 The Author(s).

In the era of artificial intelligence and real-time applications, the demand for swift data processing on large volumes has become paramount. This article delves into the critical role of programming languages and frameworks in meeting these requirements. With a focus on web development, the study conducts a comparative analysis of eight classic sorting algorithms—Bubble Sort, Insertion Sort, Selection Sort, Merge Sort, Quick Sort, Heap Sort, Introspective Sort, and Shell Sort—evaluated in two prominent programming languages, PHP and C#. The research emphasizes the importance of selecting programming tools based on performance criteria in the context of modern applications. Next, a new formula for assessing the complexity of sorted words was introduced, aiming to scrutinize its impact on sorting time. Furthermore, a comparative analysis was conducted, evaluating the implementation of sorting in C# using arrays versus lists. The article sought to delineate the intricacies associated with each approach, considering computational efficiency and resource utilization. The paper presents research on the accuracy of measuring illuminance and chromaticity of airport lamps. The impact of the type of DC and AC power supply on measurement was assessed with the use of electronic sensors. BH1750 and BH1745 type sensors in a microprocessor system with an I2C interface were used for the measurements. A professional luxmeter was used for comparison purposes. Experimental tests were carried out under laboratory conditions for three types of halogen lamps: approach system lamps, runway centerline lamps, and touchdown zone lamps. © 2023 Division of Signal Processing and Electronic systems, Poznan University of Technology (DSPES PUT).

The paper presents an analysis of fast selection of neural network for the purpose of visual analysis of mechanical wear on prism lenses of in-pavement airport navigational lighting systems. This issue is particularly important in terms of aviation safety and navigational lighting control, regulated by EASA and ICAO. The article is the next stage of the development of the system for the vision control of lamps, in which the concept of using a different neural network with an increased data set prepared by the authors is presented. The Deep Network Designer tool included in the Matlab 2022b environment was used. The solution using the GoogLeNet neural network allows for the classification of lamps with an accuracy of 88.37%. © 2023 Division of Signal Processing and Electronic systems, Poznan University of Technology (DSPES PUT).

Considering the evolution of technology, the need to secure data is growing fast. When we turn our attention to the healthcare field, securing data and assuring privacy are critical conditions that must be accomplished. The information is sensitive and confidential, and the exchange rate is very fast. Over the years, the healthcare domain has gradually seen a growth of interest regarding the interconnectivity of different processes to optimize and improve the services that are provided. Therefore, we need intelligent complex systems that can collect and transport sensitive data in a secure way. These systems are called cyber-physical systems. In healthcare domain, these complex systems are named medical cyber physical systems. The paper presents a brief description of the above-mentioned intelligent systems. Then, we focus on wireless sensor networks and the issues and challenges that occur in securing sensitive data and what improvements we propose on this subject. In this paper we tried to provide a detailed overview about cyber-physical systems, medical cyber-physical systems, wireless sensor networks and the security issues that can appear. © 2022 IEEE.
