In this paper, we compute a low order approximation of a system of large order n that matches ν moments of order ji of the transfer function, at ν interpolation points, has poles and k zeros fixed and also matches ν − ( +k) moments of order ji + 1, where ji + 1 is the multiplicity of the i-th interpolation point. We derive explicit linear systems in the free parameters to simultaneously achieve the required pole-zero placement and match the desired high order moments. We compute the closed form of the free parameters that meet the constraints, as the solution of a ν order linear system. Furthermore, for data-driven model reduction, we generalize the construction of the Loewner matrices to include the data and the imposed pole and higher order moment constraints. The resulting approximations achieve a trade-off between the good norm approximation and the preservation of the dynamics of the original system in a region of interest. Mobile offloading is a platform that facilitates the distribution of computationally intensive tasks from mobile devices to the cloud or other devices in order to conserve energy and improve performance. The concept is practically based on the idea of exchanging relatively low communication energy for high computation power utilization. Efforts have been channeled towards energy conservation by clusters using Dynamic Power Management (DPM). This paper is a review for green energy sources for reducing energy and using energy consumption to manage sources by stating the latest studies of energy consumption and energy consumptions.

The contamination of soils by heavy metals is a current problem for agricultural production. Rapid access and reliability to heavy metal concentration such as cadmium is crucial for international trade. In the present study, visible and near infrared (VIS-NIR) spectroscopy, combined with linear and statistical methods, were used to predict the cadmium concentration of organic cocoa bean samples. Partial Least Square Regression (PLSR) and Support Vector Regression (SVR) were implemented to estimate the content of this heavy metal from hyperspectral imaging and chemical analysis. Competitive Adaptive Reweighted Sampling Method (CARS) and Jackknife method were used for selecting optimal wavelength. The SVR model performed satisfactorily with the use of 45 resulting wavelengths from optimization using CARS and the Jackknife method, with an adjusted coefficient for the test R 2 of 0.9401 and an RMSEP of 0.2594. Based on the results, it was concluded that VIS-NIR spectroscopy combined with CARS-Jackknife methods seems to be a fast and effective alternative to classical methods for predicting the concentration of cadmium in organic cocoa beans.

A coupled computational approach to simultaneously learn a vector field and the region of attraction of an equilibrium point from generated trajectories of the system is proposed. The nonlinear identification leverages the local stability information as a prior on the system, effectively endowing the estimate with this important structural property. In addition, the knowledge of the region of attraction plays an experiment design role by informing the selection of initial conditions from which trajectories are generated and by enabling the use of a Lyapunov function of the system as a regularization term. Numerical results show that the proposed method allows efficient sampling and provides an accurate estimate of the dynamics in an inner approximation of its region of attraction. One of the risk factors in skin cancer is unprotected exposure to UV radiation. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer but also curable if it is diagnosed in the early stages. This study uses a histogram analysis technique to investigate and classify two common skin lesions, nevi and melanoma. The colour feature investigated is the optimal threshold values in RGB space. Also, a boundary limit of the skin lesions is performed using a colour histogram analysis and the optimal threshold determination. A statistical analysis of the relevant threshold values for R, G and B histograms to establish a sound colour separation between benign and malignant lesions is performed. Monochromatic channel threshold values are clustered using K-means and the validity of clustering is assessed by silhouette method. The proposed method technique is evaluated using 120 colour digital images (60 melanomas and 60 nevi) from the Digital Archive of the Department of Dermatology of the University Medical Center in Groningen (UMCG)1. The reported results suggest red as the lesion representative colour in dermoscopic images. The pixel values for red channel are strongly related to the skin lesion type. © SGEM 2019.

MRI images contain a lot of subtle information related to various lesions which are difficult to be picked up by radiologists. Computer aided diagnosis CAD is a valuable tool to improve the ability of an average radiologist to diagnose the subtle lesions. This study uses the isolated foreground pixels in MRI images as a feature able to discern a stroke patient by a healthy one. Brain MRI image was divided into eight equal sectors. The isolated foreground pixels (i.e. pixels satisfying a neighborhood configuration that corresponds to an isolated foreground pixel) were extracted using hit-or-miss and skeleton transformations. We have tested the proposed algorithms using two cerebral image datasets (healthy and acute stroke patients). The mean SD values of isolated foreground pixels for stroke patients systematically exceed the corresponding values for healthy patients. The higher numbers of isolated foreground pixel determined using hit-or-miss transform indicate this method as a promising approach for a simple and quick evaluation of stroke. © SGEM 2019.

Model-free practical cooperative control for diffusively coupled systems

In this paper, we develop a data-based controller design framework for diffusively coupled systems with guaranteed convergence to an Ε-neighborhood of the desired formation. The controller is comprised of a fixed controller with an adjustable gain on each edge. Via passivity theory and network optimization we not only prove that there exists a gain attaining the desired formation control goal, but we present a data-based method to find an upper bound on this gain. Furthermore, by allowing for additional experiments, the conservatism of the upper bound can be reduced via iterative sampling schemes. The introduced scheme is based on the assumption of passive systems, which we relax by discussing different methods for estimating the systems' passivity shortage, as well as applying transformations passivizing them. Finally, we illustrate the developed model-free cooperative control scheme with a case study. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This work solves the bearing-only formation control problem for two agents with limited field-of-view sensing. We propose a bearing-only control strategy for both the position and heading of each agent that guarantees the desired formation is obtained from almost all initial conditions, and ensures that the agents always remain inside the field-of-view of the sensor. We support our analysis with simulations and explore an extension for the 3- and 4-agent case. © 2018

The paper deals with the design of an electric-driven shipborne launching device. The aim is to develop a full providing device for safe and efficient lifting, lowering and maintaining of a ship's auxiliary boat. In the first part, different types of davits are briefly discussed. The next part is devoted to the calculation of the variable mechanical load, taking into account the features of the construction and operation of the device. After that, the appropriate electric motor is selected. Finally, the onboard lifting device's electric drive operation simulation and analysis are performed. © 2018 IEEE.
