Testing designing an electrical device compliant with the electromagnetic compatibility directive

The goal of presented work was to build an electronic device in order to test the effectiveness of different EMC-improving solutions. Three EMC tests were done in order to check the created device compliance with the electromagnetic compatibility directive. Each of them was conducted for both industrial and non-industrial parameters (voltage and field strength), according to IEC PN-EN 61000 standards. Three tests were done: conductive immunity test in EM clamp, radiated immunity test in GTEM chamber, radiated emission test in GTEM chamber. Firstly, the device's conductive immunity was examined. The set of possible solutions was created by examining existing designs, papers, books and producers' recommendations. In result, different component configurations were chosen to determine the most EMC-effective one. Next, electromagnetic compatibility of proposed device configurations was tested in the GTEM chamber (radiated immunity and radiated emission). Tests results are presented on charts and analysed in order to verify if designed device face requirements of the electromagnetic compatibility directive. It was verify which of proposed electromagnetic compatibility improving solutions can solve problems with electromagnetic compatibility.

We introduce a novel distributed control architecture for disturbances attenuation in heterogeneous platoons of linear and time-invariant autonomous agents that inherits the performance achievable by the leader-follower control policies. We provide a Youla-like parameterization for the class of all distributed controllers such that the sparsity constraints are imposed on the controllers' left coprime factors, outlining a new concept of structural constraints in distributed control. The proposed scheme lends itself to optimal controller design via norm based costs, it guarantees string stability and completely eliminates the accordion effect from the behavior of the platoon. The distributed controller is proven to attain global optimality for heterogeneous platoons and ℋ 2 costs and can easily reconfigure such as to remain optimal during formation merging/exiting maneuvers. The scheme is amenable to a GPS time base synchronization mechanism, allowing for the exact compensation of the time delays induced by the wireless communications.

Magnetic swirls and associated fast magnetoacoustic kink waves in a solar chromospheric flux tube

We perform numerical simulations of impulsively generated magnetic swirls in an isolated flux tube which is rooted in the solar photosphere. These swirls are triggered by an initial pulse in a horizontal component of the velocity. The initial pulse is launched either: (a) centrally, within the localized magnetic flux tube;or (b) off-central, in the ambient medium. The evolution and dynamics of the flux tube is described by three-dimensional, ideal magnetohydrodynamic equations. These equations are numerically solved to reveal that in case (a) dipole-like swirls associated with the fast magnetoacoustic kink and m = 1 Alfvén waves are generated. In case (b), the fast magnetoacoustic kink and m = 0 Alfvén modes are excited. In both these cases, the excited fast magnetoacoustic kink and Alfvén waves consist of similar flow pattern and magnetic shells are also generated with clockwise and counter-clockwise rotating plasma within them, which can be the proxy of dipole-shaped chromospheric swirls. The complex dynamics of vortices and wave perturbations reveals the channelling of sufficient amount of energy to fulfill energy losses in the chromosphere (∼ 104 W m−1) and in the corona (∼ 102 W m−1). Some of these numerical findings are reminiscent of signatures in recent observational data. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper investigates observer parameterizations and its application to observer-based fault detection for nonlinear systems. With the aid of coprime factorization techniques, the observer parameterization forms are first derived in terms of input-to-output approach and state space representation. To further implement the methodology, one design scheme is proposed for the so-called affine nonlinear systems. Then, the application of the proposed observer parameterization form to observer-based fault detection is studied. In the end, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed scheme. © 2015

The service-oriented environment offers the opportunity to create new applications, by combining existing applications offered as services, in order to react to the business' increasing pressure of quickly delivering new applications. With a large number of web services offering the same functionality, choosing the web services that meet best the client's quality of service (QoS) requirements is a very important task. We introduce a QoS-aware end to end web service composition approach that handles all the stages from the web service discovery step, to the actual binding of the services. This approach uses our method of expressing nonfunctional preferences, which requires minimal effort on the part of the clients, but offers great flexibility in managing trade-offs. We define a QoS preferences ontology and use it in our semantic web service selection to choose an initial candidate list of services for every task in the orchestration model. Then, one concrete service is chosen from each candidate list and is boand to the corresponding task. This step involves computing and comparing the aggregated QoS of the resulting composite services. The selection is performed using a genetic algorithm.

The paper presents the results obtained by the authors during the research done on the efficient usage of photovoltaic panels and proposes performant numerical methods for the estimation of the maximum power point (MPP). The P(U) and P(I,U) models are computed for the BGSP - P225 solar panel model. For the first model, P(U), the paper proposes a polynomial interpolation search algorithm and for the P(I,U) model an optimal gradient algorithm, respectively. The performances obtained with these methods are evaluated and the main results are commented. The implementation of the search algorithms for the maximum power point is important for the computation of the set point given to the control systems, which control the photovoltaic panel, in order to obtain optimal photovoltaic generated power.

The paper deals with a mathematical model of switched reluctance motor, with stator of on induction motor. The parameters of this model were determined experimentally. The motor winding were supplied from different frequencies AC voltage source. Based on the measurements of current and voltage equivalent resistance and inductance of motor windings as a function of frequency were determined using the least squares method. The measurements for different rotation angle of the rotor were carried out. The measured resistance value was significantly higher than the value of the winding resistance because of “iron losses”. The losses are modeled as the losses of a single turn wound on the rotor core, representing the eddy currents circuit. The losses are dependent on the angle of the rotor rotation relative to the stator. Based on the relationship between the equivalent inductance and resistance of the motor measured and specified of the model, the parameters were determined.

River water quality nowadays represents a major concern. Performing water monitoring, in order to detect the pollutant with wireless sensor networks is not enough. Furthermore, the solution to place more sensors for monitoring is not cost efficient as this type of sensors are very expensive. In the case of a pollution accident on a river, it is mandatory to alert people and, more important, to predict the evolution of pollutant concentration, downstream. Also, it is essential to minimize the time-frame to send the alert to the possibly affected people. In this paper, we propose a cost-efficient cloud-based service oriented architecture for water pollution prediction and alert system. The cost efficiency of our approach comes from the three main directions. The first way is represented by the usage of less water monitoring specific sensors due to the usage of complex hydraulic models. The second direction is represented by the construction of a knowledge-base with pre-run scenarios of pollution propagation events. The third direction is represented by the usage of cloud computing services which are proven to be cost effective. The novelty of our approach comes from the integration of different Cloud computing platforms and services, in order achieve scalability, provisioning of resources in real time, to have a simplified deployment and management of resources and applications, and to get a better cost/performance ratio.
