Multimedia is one of the most important aspects of the information era. With the advent of the multimedia age and the spread of Internet, video storage and streaming has been gaining a lot of popularity. When transmitting compressed video over a data network channel errors affect the decoding process. Video transmission puts constraints on data rate, computational complexity and delay. Unreliable channels add more challenges to this task as compressed video is extremely vulnerable to transmission errors. Problems arising from imperfect transmission of block coded video frame sequence result in lost blocks. This paper presents and implements a set of decoder side spatio-temporal algorithms that aim to enhance the speed and quality of the error concealment process. The results obtained by these algorithms are much faster and achieve better performance compared to the existing algorithms, which make them more suitable for real-time applications.

In this paper we propose a supervised multi-agent control strategy for leather manufacturing processes. In a tannery numerous processes are performed and in order to control them we use an agent for each process. Due to the control from distance, the systems are affected by varying communication delays which can affect the quality of the final product. The supervisor is used to adjust, by using the fuzzy logic, the command provided by each agent. Simulation results are presented. The results show performance improvement when our control strategy is used.

This paper presented the simulation results of the three phase electrical systems supplied by four wires with power quality problems, to which the parallel 3-leg APF (active power filters) are connected. The purpose of this study is to analyze the results obtained in these conditions in order to observe the limits of the 3-leg active power filters and to form a foundation for the future studies of the 4-leg active power filters. For a complete analysis, the APF will be controlled by four control methods: synchronous reference system control, indirect control, instantaneous p-q theory control, and positive sequence control. The analysis will watch the power quality indicators: THD (total harmonic distortion factor), PF (power factor), Iunb (unbalance factor).

We present in this paper a design method for two-dimensional two-channel sparse nonseparable FIR filter banks using transformation of variables. In a first phase the transformation function is designed in a least-squares fashion. The second stage of the algorithm introduces the sparseness in a greedy manner by removing at each step the minimum coefficient of the filter in absolute value. The obtained results show that the sparse filter banks offer the possibility of choosing the complexity of the filters and have also better stopband energy.

In this paper is presented a comparative analysis between two power conditioners connected to a four-wire micro-grid. The first one was developed on a two levels voltage structure and the second one on a three-level voltage NPC structure (Neutral Point Clamped), both controlled by the same strategy. The main objective of the proposed strategy is to limit the disturbance produced by different loads. Another goal is to act as an interface between renewable energy sources and the micro-grid. In this study, about 25% of the power requested by the load comes from the renewable energy sources. The investigated systems have been implemented in Matlab / Simulink, in order to analyze the micro-grid harmonic level, the power factor and the voltage unbalance at the point of common coupling.

It was implemented an odometric system using two encoders and the programmable environment Matlab/Simulink, also it has been design an PI controller for the DC motors. Interest in biologically-inspired optimization techniques has increased due to its accurate results, fast performance and ease of use. In this paper, an ant colony optimization (ACO) technique is deployed and used for modelling a twin rotor system. The system is perceived as a challenging engineering problem due to its strong cross coupling between horizontal and vertical axes and inaccessibility of some of its states and outputs for measurements. Accurate modelling of the system is thus required so as to achieve satisfactory control objectives. It is demonstrated that ACO can be effectively used for modelling the system with highly accurate results. The accuracy of the modelling results is demonstrated through validation tests including training and test validation and correlation tests.
