Statute retrieval aims to find relevant statutory articles for specific queries. This process is the basis of a wide range of legal applications such as legal advice, automated judicial decisions, legal document drafting, etc. Existing statute retrieval benchmarks focus on formal and professional queries from sources like bar exams and legal case documents, thereby neglecting non-professional queries from the general public, which often lack precise legal terminology and references. To address this gap, we introduce the STAtute Retrieval Dataset (STARD), a Chinese dataset comprising 1,543 query cases collected from real-world legal consultations and 55,348 candidate statutory articles. Unlike existing statute retrieval datasets, which primarily focus on professional legal queries, STARD captures the complexity and diversity of real queries from the general public. Through a comprehensive evaluation of various retrieval baselines, we reveal that existing retrieval approaches all fall short of these real queries issued by non-professional users. The best method only achieves a Recall@100 of 0.907, suggesting the necessity for further exploration and additional research in this area. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

In the area of electric submersible pumps (ESPs), permanent magnet motor (PMM) drives are drawing increasing attention due to the advantages of high energy efficiency and high-power density. However, there are few studies focusing on the specific issues of the ESP PMM drives. To solve the issue, this paper emphasizes the voltage drop and position estimation inaccuracy issues of the system. First, the voltage drops caused by the LC filter, transformer, and long cables are analyzed, providing guidelines for designing the appropriate PMM drives. Second, the impacts of system structure on position and speed estimation accuracy are explained at length, posing necessity of developing improved sensorless control strategies. Finally, simulation is conducted on a PMM drive to verify the effectiveness of the analytical results. © 2023 IEEE.

Photoacoustic microscopy (PAM) has emerged as a rapidly advancing non-invasive medical imaging method in recent years. However, slow imaging speed has impeded its widespread adoption in clinical applications. In certain scenarios, sparse spatial sampling is essential for PAM so there is a trade-off between spatial resolution and imaging speed. To address this limitation, we propose a frequency domain index based on cumulative power difference (CPD) to determine rapidly the optimal down-sampling factors. In this study, the structural images of mice ears were acquired by the PAM system. Subsequently, the optimal down-sampling factor was determined through CPD analysis of these images via interpolation. Finally, the correlation between cumulative power difference and the image quality loss curve were analyzed. The results indicate that the quality of the reconstructed images decreases with the increasing down-sampling factor. Moreover, the cumulative power difference is an effective tool for rapid assessment of reconstruction image quality degradation due to varying down-sampling factors. © 2025 SPIE.

The development of target tracking based on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has made great progress. These trackers demonstrate commendable performance under optimal lighting conditions. However, when trackers track at night, their tracking performance decreases significantly. In such scenarios, even the state-of-the-art (SOTA) trackers exhibit a discernible reduction in robustness. To improve the UAV's ability to track at night, this paper introduces a novel low-light image enhancement approach, namely PIE. The approach leverages pairs of low and normal light images as inputs, executing image decomposition and subsequent reconstruction guided by a loss function. The integration of this algorithm seamlessly occurs within the pre-processing phase of the tracker. The devised methodology comprises a lightweight optimization module, a data-driven decomposition module, and an adaptive illumination adjustment module. These components collectively advance the effective decomposition and illumination adjustment of low-illumination images. Through a meticulous evaluation utilizing the widely acknowledged benchmark dataset, UAVDark135, our approach demonstrates pronounced advantages in UAV night tracking scenarios. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper addresses the challenging issue of drone air combat maneuver decision-making by proposing an improved TR-PPO-RB algorithm. In simulated air combat scenarios, especially when drones are outnumbered, the performance of this algorithm is meticulously compared with the traditional PPO algorithm. Experimental data shows that the TR-PPO-RB algorithm has a significant advantage in increasing the win rate and the number of effective combat rounds, improving from 60.5% to 68.5% and from 80% to 98.9%, respectively. These results not only demonstrate the algorithm ' s excellent adaptability in complex battlefield environments but also confirm its stability. In the research, by introducing innovative rollback mechanisms and trust region optimization techniques, the TR-PPO-RB algorithm has achieved a breakthrough in the effectiveness of strategy learning and the robustness of the model. In the 1 vs 2 adversarial tests, the performance of the drones has been significantly enhanced. This study not only contributes new research methods and practical skills to the field of drone air combat decision-making but also lays a solid theoretical foundation and practical reference for future research endeavors. © 2024 IEEE.

The article introduces the simulation and application of the vector control scheme for PMSM based on SVPWM. The specific principles and realization process of SVPWM are analyzed through the mathematical model of PMSM. The speed and current loop control system are also studied through SVPWM. The Simulink platform is used to build the corresponding model for simulation analysis, and the platform is verified by experiment on the SPD1179 chip. The results of the simulation and experiment show that the vector control technology of PMSM has excellent dynamic stability. © 2024 SPIE.

With the the vigorous development of new power system, energy and carbon coupling trading has emerged as an effective way to promote the renewable generation and reduce carbon footprint. It is a challenge to design an effective market framework for joint electricity and carbon trading to achieve better strategies. This paper introduces a peer-to-peer electricity-carbon coupling trading (ECCT) market and develops a carbon-electricity virtual battery (CEVB) model to represent the relationship between dynamic carbon credits and energy consumption. The trading optimization problem is formulated as a partially observable Markov decision process, then multi-agent double soft actor-critic (MADSAC) algorithm is introduced to solve the problem. The algorithm makes the method more exploratory, protects personal privacy and solves the overestimation problems effectively. Result studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed market and algorithm in optimizing total cost and reducing carbon emissions. © 2024 IEEE.

Current source inverters (CSIs) are used for various medium voltage (MV) motor drive systems ranging from 100 kWs to MWs. Symmetric gate-commutated thyristors (SGCTs) are used as reverse voltage-blocking (RVB) switches (referred to as a current switch (CS) in this paper) in existing CSI motor drives. However, these devices operate at low switching frequencies (420-720 Hz), leading to bulkier passive components and lower system efficiencies. Moreover, these devices need to be connected in series to obtain the required voltage ratings of 4.16 kV. The SiC-based devices have enabled high switching frequency operation and lower device counts. This paper compares a single 10 kV SiC CS with two series-connected 6.5 kV SGCTs for medium voltage (MV) CSI application rated at a line-to-line voltage of 4.16 kV in terms of device sizing, passive component selection and sizing, and system losses comprising of the inverter losses and passive component losses. It is shown that the SiC-based solution has increased power density, improved waveform quality with reduced total harmonic distortion (THD), increased overall system efficiency, and higher thermal limits. © 2023 IEEE.

In robotic arm manipulation, folding clothes is highly challenging due to the garments' inherent infinite degrees of freedom. Our designed system can unfold garments from any configuration and automatically center them in the workspace during folding, thereby minimizing constraints on the robotic arm's motion range. High-quality garment unfolding significantly enhances folding efficiency. Therefore, this study introduces a novel action strategy, 'Lift&Drag,' which involves high-speed dynamic actions to adjust garments from any state to a prede-fined configuration, ensuring superior unfolding. To bridge the simulation-reality gap and improve fabric keypoint detection ac-curacy, we collected extensive real-world fabric images, creating a dataset of approximately 2,000 images. This dataset notably enhances the performance of fabric folding keypoint detection. Experimental results show that the method reliably performs in real-world settings, achieving 91.3 % unfolding coverage and a 92.8 % folding success rate, particularly with heavily wrinkled t-shirts. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a novel concept to eliminate the digital delay effect on rotor position for the traditional two-step finite control set model predictive current control (FCS-MPCC) method used in the PMSMs. Specifically, that the digital delay affects the position, and further the prediction accuracy is discussed firstly, posing the necessity of compensating the position used for control. Then, a speed-prediction-based linear compensation method which takes the speed shift trend into account is proposed to eliminate the digital delay impact on position, which is conducive to the control performance. Finally, simulation is conducted on a three-phase PMSM to validate the proposed strategy in comparison with the traditional two-step FCS-MPCC. © 2023 IEEE.
