Power systems are moving toward a low-carbon or carbon-neutral future where high penetration of renewables is *** conventional fossil-fueled synchronous generators in the transmission network being replaced by renewable energy generation which is highly distributed across the entire grid,new challenges are emerging to the control and stability of large-scale power *** analysis and control methods are needed for power systems to cope with the ongoing *** the CSEE JPES forum,six leading experts were invited to deliver keynote speeches,and the participating researchers and professionals had extensive exchanges and discussions on the control and stability of power ***,potential changes and challenges of power systems with high penetration of renewable energy generation were introduced and explained,and advanced control methods were proposed and analyzed for the transient stability enhancement of power grids.

In order to improve the performance of portable energy storage (PES), a dual active bridge (DAB) converter based on linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) is studied in this paper. Firstly, a small-signal model of the DAB converter is derived on the basis of its reduced-order model. Subsequently, a line expansion state observer (LESO) is designed to estimate and counteract both internal and external disturbances in real time. Meanwhile, the convergence of LESO is also validated by means of the final-value theorem. Finally, a comparison is conducted between the LADRC and the traditional PI control strategies of DAB converters in Matlab/Simulink. The simulation results indicate that The LADRC control strategy allows for more effective control of the output voltage stability compared to the traditional PI control strategy. © 2023 IEEE.

The investigation of motor imagery (MI)-based brain-computer interface (BCI) is vital to the domains of human-computer interaction and rehabilitation. Few existing studies on electroencephalogram(EEG) signals decoding based on MI consider any distractions. However, it is difficult for users to do a single MI task in real life, which is especially affected by visual distraction. In this paper, we aim to investigate the effects of visual distraction on MI decoding performance. We first design a noval MI paradigm under visual distraction and observe distinct patterns of event-related desynchronization (ERD) and event-related synchronization (ERS) in MI under visual distraction. Then, we propose a robust decoding method of MI under visual distraction from EEG signals by using the feature map attention EEGNet (named FMA-EEGNet) and use EEG data under conditions without and with distraction to compare the decoding performance of five methods (including the proposed method and other methods). The results demonstrate that FMA-EEGNet achieved mean accuracy of 89.1% and 82.2% without and with visual distraction, respectively, indicating superior performance compared to other methods while exhibiting minimal degradation in performance. This work contributes significantly to the advancement of practical applications in MI-BCI technology. © 2024 IEEE.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) detection of ice-covered transmission lines (ITL) is a crucial task for winter power grid maintenance. Instance segmentation offers robustness in handling complex scene variations in UAV images while providing instance-level information. However, the quality of instance segmentation heavily relies on precise pixel-level annotations, while predictions from low-cost annotations tend to be coarse. Therefore, this paper proposes a soft label mask optimization (SLMO) method to achieve high-quality segmentation results of ITL with only coarse annotations. Furthermore, to alleviate loss of feature details during multi-scale feature fusion, a pixel shuffle module (PSM) is introduced to replace the conventional interpolation sampling method. Combining these methods, this paper proposes a SLMO Network (SLMONet) based on the efficient SparseInst framework. Extensive experiments on our ITL datasets validate the effectiveness of SLMONet in segmenting ITL. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper proposes a switched capacitor based step-up DC-DC converter with the advantages of single-switch, continuously adjustable ultrahigh voltage gain and low input current ripple. To achieve high gain characteristics, the converter utilizes a quadratic boost converter on the input side to ensure continuous input current. Additionally, it implants the second winding of a coupled inductor within it, connecting it to the first winding of the coupled inductor and a voltage multiplier. The analysis includes a discussion of the operating principle, the derivation of the steady-state key equations, the voltage and current stress on the components, and the boundary condition. A functional prototype is built to confirm the theoretical analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

We study the problem of global asymptotic stability preservation (GASP) for C0 non-smoothly stabilizable systems with input delay under sampled-data feedback. With the aid of Halanay inequality and the notion of homogeneity, the following sampled-data control results are established under a fast sampling: 1) GAS is preservable if the nonlinear system is homogeneous of degree zero and globally asymptotically stabilizable by homogeneous feedback;2) As a consequence, GAS via sampled-data feedback is achieved for a class of non-smoothly stabilizable systems with input delay in a lower-triangular or upper-triangular form. © 2024 IEEE.

The focus of this paper is on the issue of disturbance rejection in leader-follower multi-agent systems based on a reduced-order observer. By combining with the practical, unknown perturbations are considered to be generated by the external system by designing a reduced-order estimation observer to obtain an estimate of the disturbances in the followers. Second, a control protocol is designed for each follower based on the obtained estimates. The design method of the reduced-order observer used in this paper simplifies the state equations of the reduced-order observer by reducing the order compared to the full-order observer, which is simpler to compute and can also effectively suppress the effects of disturbances. Finally, the feasibility of this scheme is verified by numerical examples. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper examines the challenge of bidding a battery system on an electrical power market with varying prices. Optimizing bids for each market interval is a complex challenge since the bid size for one market interval affects the battery availability during several subsequent market intervals. In this paper, a renewable generation unit such as Photovoltaic (PV) and a battery storage are considered, with the battery used to shift electricity sales from low-price market intervals to high-price market intervals. The battery can also be used to smooth momentary fluctuations in generated power, cope with differences between actual and forecasted generation, and help to meet the maximum power limit constraint. This paper evaluates how to best manage the battery for optimal bidding in an electrical power market. © 2023 IEEE.
