This paper describes the effect of magnetic field on tracking failure of gamma-ray irradiated polybutylene naphthalate (PBN), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The experiment was carried out by applying a dc pulse voltage under magnetic field. The magnetic flux density (MFD) of the magnetic filed was 495 mT and the direction of E×B was 0, 90 and 270 degrees with respect to the sample surface. The PBN, PBT and PET were irradiated in air up to 100 kGy and then up to 1000 kGy with a dose rate of 10 kGy/h by using a 60 Co gamma-source. Obtained results revealed that the tracking failure was greatly changed by gamma-ray irradiation and magnetic field.

Research of job scheduling methods of arc welding robot is focused in this paper. The job scheduling of arc welding robot is considered as a Traveling-salesman-Problem. Welding job scheduling is modeled and relevant job scheduling optimization methods are designed. Genetic algorithm and ant colony algorithm are applied to robot welding job scheduling first. Then, based on the characteristics of both algorithms, hybrid genetic ant colony algorithm is designed to improve optimization performance. With simulated weldment as the subject, genetic algorithm, ant colony algorithm and hybrid genetic ant colony algorithm are analyzed and compared by simulation. Validity of above methods is verified.

This paper investigated the effects of interfacial pressure on the discharge and tracking failure at the interface between XLPE and silicon rubber by analyzing the distribution of discharge light emitted during the failure process. The test sample was made by pressing together a piece of XLPE and a piece of transparent silicon rubber with the pressure of 20 kN/cm 2 , 100 kN/cm 2 and 300 kN/cm 2 , respectively. Test voltage was applied to a pair of plate-needle electrodes sandwiched at the interface with the insulation distance of 10 mm. The initial discharge voltage, the discharge light from discharge to tracking failure and the tracking patterns after failure were recorded with a digital camera. Then the discharge light was analyzed with an image processing method. Results show that the initial discharge voltage increases with the increase of pressure, which significantly influences the distribution characteristics of the discharge light and tracking pattern at the interface. The analysis of discharge light distribution is helpful in understanding the failure process and its mechanism at the interface between XLPE and silicon rubber found in prefabricated cable joint.

In this paper, room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber (SiR) was employed as test sample to investigate the relationship between electrical tree propagation characteristics and the experiment temperature. Both the structures and growth characteristics of electrical tree in SiR were observed by using a digital camera and a microscope system. Obtained results show that electrical tree in RTV SiR is white gap tree channel, which all initiate from single branch, and the width of initiative single branch channel varies a lot with the electrical tree structure. The structure of electrical tree at experiment temperature from 30°C to 90°C in RTV SiR can be classified into four categories. They are branch, bush, pine branch and bush-pine mixed tree. The distribution of tree structures changes with the experiment. At the temperature of 30°C, branch tree take up a great proportion, however, bush tree becomes the dominant structure when the temperature rise up to 60°C and 90°C. The probability of tree initiation decreases obviously with the rise of the experiment temperature from 30°C to 90°C. All kinds of electrical tree grow rapidly in the first beginning of the treeing propagation, and this process lasts only a few minutes. In addition, a new parameter, the treeing proportion is introduced to describe propagation characteristics of bush tree.

This paper investigates the effect of nano-scale SiO 2 on the tracking failure properties of nanocomposites. Test samples were made by dispersing nano-scale SiO 2 powder in epoxy with the weight ratios of 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 wt%. AC voltage was applied on a pair of needle-plate electrodes at the surface with the insulation distance of 10 mm. The time to tracking failure and discharge current were recorded. In order to distinguish the change of the tracking resistance from the confusing discharge current, a recurrence plot (RP) analysis of discharge current has been used. The patterns of the tracking failure were analyzed with fractal dimension (FD) method to quantify the carbonization degree. The results reveal that 3 wt% of nano-scale SiO 2 filler greatly increase the resistance to tracking failure of epoxy/SiO 2 nanocomposite.

Chaotic synchronization criteria for a class of dynamical networks with each node being RCL-shunted Josephson junction is proposed in this paper. The proposed algorithms, which are established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), guarantee the synchronized states to be global asymptotically stable. In addition, an interesting conclusion is reached that the chaotic synchronization in the coupled whole 3N-dimensional networks can be converted into that of 3-dimensional space.

Paper deals with application of online rotor broken bar fault detection via artificial neural networks. Fault can be detected by monitoring abnormalities of the spectrum amplitudes at certain frequencies in the motor current spectrum. These discriminative features are used for training of feed-forward backpropagation artificial neural network. Trained network is capable to successfully classify induction motor rotor condition. Results are presented in tables and figures.

In this paper an observer-based fault detection approach for a class of nonlinear systems, which can be modeled by Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy models, is presented. We propose a sliding mode fuzzy observer that deals with unmeasurable premise variables, bounded uncertainties in the plant and allows fault estimation based on an equivalent output error injection approach. Necessary conditions for the existence of the robust observer are derived from sliding mode theory [10]. Stability is ensured by linear matrix inequality (LMI) based sufficient conditions. An illustrative example demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

This paper deals with eccentricity fault detection in a induction motor via artificial neural networks. Discriminative features are extracted from magnitude-frequency plot of line current spectra at characteristic frequencies. Based on this data, training and test sets for used artificial neural networks are made. Feedforward and radial basis function neural networks are used for tasks of rotor condition classification. Well trained artificial neural networks are capable to successfully classify rotor condition at medium and full shaft load for choosen features. Simple structure and implementation made them suitably for practical usage.

The windup phenomenon caused by the current limitation and PWM voltage regulation in the brushless DC motor (BLDCM) double PI loop speed regulating system has been investigated. And the anti-windup controller has been applied to suppress the relevant windup phenomenon. The simulation illustrates that the anti-windup controller make the BLDCM speed regulating less overshoot and quickly dynamic response. And it also has the same anti-disturb performance while the BLDCM running with external load disturb and/or internal resistor, inductance and inertia variation. The results have good reference for the design of BLDCM and the performance enhancement of the BLDCM speed regulating system.
