A novel fault integration method is proposed in this paper for manufacturing system models given in the form of timed colored Petri nets. The faults are assumed to have a stochastic nature and are represented in the form of transitions firing in stochastic way with known fault probabilities in the system model. A novel fault effect propagation method was also developed, that can be used to compute the probabilities of the possible faulty and non-faulty intermediate and final states of the system using the probabilities of faults and the occurrence graph. The faultless and fault containing models were implemented in CPNTools both for non-timed and timed cases. A software module was also developed for the proposed probabilistic fault propagation analysis. The proposed methods and tools were demonstrated using a simple case study.

A novel on-line diagnosis method is proposed in this paper that uses a qualitative dynamic model of the system and its colored Petri nets model. The model contains both the normal and the possible faulty operational modes of the system. The deviation between the normal and faulty modes is characterized based on P-HAZID tables. The actual system state can be searched on the occurrence graph constructed in advance. Starting from this node the possible consequences and root causes can be determined on-line with traversing on the graph. The proposed method is illustrated on simple case studies.

Multi-Objective Load Distribution Optimization for Hot Strip Mills

Load distribution is a key technology in hot strip rolling process, which directly influences strip product quality. A multi-objective load distribution model, which takes into account the rolling force margin balance, roll wear ratio and strip shape control, is presented. To avoid the selection of weight coefficients encountered in single objective optimization, a multi-objective differential evolutionary algorithm, called MaximinDE, is proposed to solve this model. The experimental results based on practical production data indicate that MaximinDE can obtain a good pareto-optimal solution set, which consists of a series of alternative solutions to load distribution. Decision-makers can select a trade-off solution from the pareto-optimal solution set based on their experience or the importance of ob- iectives. In comparison with the empirical load distribution solution, the trade-off solution can achieve a better per- formance, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the multi-objective load distribution optimization. Moreover, the conflicting relationship among different objectives can be also found, which is another advantage of multi-objective load distribution optimization.

As people usually perform their daily activities inside buildings, it is very important to achieve a trade-off between users' comfort and energy costs derived from it. This paper presents two novel concepts within the framework of energy-consumption management: productiveness and utility. Therefore, the main objective of this work is to provide an optimal forecast of the power consumption for an office room, as a function of Real-Time Prices (RTP) and Day-Ahead Pricing (DAP). The use of real time energy prices allows a more efficient management of thermal loads networks. In this work, a comfort control system for an office building is developed based on a new interpretation of the concepts of productiveness and utility, and a prediction of energy prices for the following day. In order to test the performance of the proposed control approach, simulation results obtained in a characteristic room of the CDdI-CIESOL-ARFRISOL building are included and discussed in detail. The preliminary results show an energy consumption saving approximately around 12%.

Soft-sensing is widely used in industrial applications. The traditional soft-sensing structure is open-loop without correction mechanism. If the working condition is changed or there is unknown disturbance, the forecast result of soft-sensing model may be incorrect. In order to obtain accurate values, it is necessary to carry out online correction. In this paper, a semiclosed-loop framework (SLF) is proposed to establish a soft-sensing approach, which estimates the input variables in the next moment by a prediction model and calibrates the output variables by a compensation model. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better prediction accuracy and robustness than other open-loop models.

Soft-sensing has been widely used in the case where the key variables are difficult to measure or can be measured but with a high cost. The traditional soft-sensing model is open-loop without correction mechanism. If the working condition is changed, the soft-sensing model which forecasts the following key variables will be not correct. In order to fetch the accurate value, it is necessary to carry out online correction. In this paper, a semiclosed-loop framework (SLF) is proposed to establish a soft-sensing approach. SLF approach estimates the input variables in the next moment by use of the prediction model and calibrate the output variables by use of the compensation model. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better prediction accuracy and robustness than other open-loop models in the problems of forecasting the sunspot numbers and flue gas oxygen content (FGOC).

We have started production of an information and control network TC-net 1G on a commercial basis. TC-net 1G connects control devices at high speed in supervision and control systems, such as general industry and infrastructure systems. TC-net 1G, developed based on technologies of TC-net, has accelerated transmission performance to 1 Gbps, enhanced surveillance of RAS (Reliability Availability Serviceability) information and improved reliability. By development of TC-net 1G, construction of a larger-scale system is attained in fields, such as steel rolling, paper, waterworks, sewer and food. As international standardization activities, the specification of TCnet1G is being proposed towards 3rd edition of IEC61784-2 to be published in 2013.

This paper present numerical modeling of infinitesimal dipole for the purpose of finding irregularities in real time survey data of marine controlled source electromagnetic survey. Algorithm for numerical solution using staggered grid scheme of finite difference method has been developed by using auxiliary potential functions in Helmholtz equation. Solution is obtained through a) discretized the solution region into number of elements and define boundary condition b) implementing algorithm for resulting system of linear algebraic equations. The results provides detailed understanding of irregularities in survey data caused by improper orientation of source during electromagnetic sounding for exploration of petroleum reserves in deep sea. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper present two-dimensional forward modeling of marine controlled-source electromagnetic data for the purpose of hydrocarbon mapping. The forward algorithm employs a staggered-grid finite difference solution to the total-electric field Helmholtz equation. Solution are achieved through a) an optimal grid technique that extends the boundaries of the mesh outward from the region of interest using a minimal number of nodes, and b) a direct matrix solution technique that allows for the simultaneous solution for all sources. The forward modeling provides qualitative understanding of electromagnetic signals behavior as it propagates through hydrocarbon and conductive saline fluids bearing layers at depth. © 2011 IEEE.
