A novel on-line diagnosis method is proposed in this paper that uses a qualitative dynamic model of the system and its colored Petri nets model. The model contains both the normal and the possible faulty operational modes of the system. The deviation between the normal and faulty modes is characterized based on P-HAZID tables. The actual system state can be searched on the occurrence graph constructed in advance. Starting from this node the possible consequences and root causes can be determined on-line with traversing on the graph. The proposed method is illustrated on simple case studies.

A novel fault integration method is proposed in this paper for manufacturing system models given in the form of timed colored Petri nets. The faults are assumed to have a stochastic nature and are represented in the form of transitions firing in stochastic way with known fault probabilities in the system model. A novel fault effect propagation method was also developed, that can be used to compute the probabilities of the possible faulty and non-faulty intermediate and final states of the system using the probabilities of faults and the occurrence graph. The faultless and fault containing models were implemented in CPNTools both for non-timed and timed cases. A software module was also developed for the proposed probabilistic fault propagation analysis. The proposed methods and tools were demonstrated using a simple case study.

This paper studies the method which is solid phase particles concentration of gas-solid two-phase flow detection based on the annular electrode electrostatic sensors. On the basis of existing annular electrode electrostatic sensors, through the method of experiment and derivation, the correlative relationship between electrostatic signal fluctuation and solid phase particles concentration is verified. Further analysis shows that using the standard deviation of electrostatic signal detecting solid phase particles relative concentration is feasible.

This paper considers the quantized feedback control for Markov jump linear systems with incomplete transition probabilities where the effect of current mode observation logarithmic quantizer is counted for. A sufficient condition is proposed in the framework of linear matrix inequalities. Therefore, the coarsest quantization density can be obtained using an optimization problem with convex constraints. Based on this model, a predictive control synthesis approach is developed, which involves online optimization of a infinite horizon objective and conditions to deal with system constraints. This paper is concerned with identification of nonlinear systems with a noisy scheduling variable, and the measurement of the system has an unknown time delay. Auto regressive exogenous (ARX) models are selected as the local models, and multiple local models are identified along the process operating points. The dynamics of a nonlinear system are represented by associating a normalized exponential function with each of the ARX models; therein, the normalized exponential function is acted as the probability density function. The parameters of the ARX models and the exponential functions as well as the unknown time delay are estimated simultaneously under the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm using the retarded input-output data. A CSTR example is given to verify the proposed identification approach.

The Giant Magneto Resistance (GMR) sensor is successfully used in eddy current testing because of its good low frequency detection characteristics and high sensitivity. In order to obtain more information about defects, this paper designed a GMR based eddy current system with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) for defect detection. The system can get both the amplitude of the GMR sensor's output signal and the phase related to the exciting current at the same time. Through a series of detection experiments with defects of different widths of 6mm, 8mm and 10mm, it is found that both the amplitude and the phase can clearly reflect the magnetic field changes caused by various defects. By comparing the data curves, it is proved that the phase information matches better with the real size of the defects than the amplitude information. The conclusion is beneficial for further quantitative defect detection.
