DURING our discussion at workshops for writing“What Does ChatGPT Say:The DAO from Algorithmic Intelligence to Linguistic Intelligence”[1],we had expected the next milestone for Artificial Intelligence(AI)would be in the direction of Imaginative Intelligence(II),i.e.,something similar to automatic wordsto-videos generation or intelligent digital movies/theater technology that could be used for conducting new“Artificiofactual Experiments”[2]to replace conventional“Counterfactual Experiments”in scientific research and technical development for both natural and social studies[2]-[6].Now we have OpenAI’s Sora,so soon,but this is not the final,actually far away,and it is just the beginning.

This paper investigates the relationship between the output performance of PMSM and the number of the Halbach magnetic segments. The static magnetic simulation models of the Halbach with three to seven segments are established, and the spatial harmonic distribution of these magnetic arrays under the static magnetic field is analyzed. The simulation date indicates that the five-segment configuration has the best suppression effect on the 5th harmonic, and the seven-segment Halbach magnet array has the maximum fundamental amplitude of magnetic flux density. Then, the transient magnetic simulation models of these magnetic configuration are established by FEM, and the dynamic performance in PMSM is simulated and analyzed. By comparing the simulation data, it indicates that the electromagnetic output performance of five-segment magnetic configuration is the best. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

This paper aims to tackle the cooperative output regulation problem of multi-agent systems with the existence of distributed denial of service attacks. The proposed solution consists of two steps. First, develop a distributed control policy with internal models, and then analyze the resilience of closed-loop systems. Through the notion of input-to-state stability and Lyapunov stability theory, a bound of distributed denial of service duration is obtained under which the closed-loop systems achieve cooperative output regulation. The efficiency is validated by numeric simulations.

This paper proposes a new algorithm to model and characterize an autonomous high-power rocket using an indigenously developed graphical user interface (GUI) platform. This platform features a newly devised app, termed as THIEC Rocketry App which embeds the simulation based analysis to determine the design parameters of the rocket, required for a vertical flight. A solid propellant using potassium nitrate and sucrose, also known as rocket-candy, is considered for the GUI development. The GUI facilitates the designer to specify the desired flight parameters for the rocket propulsion system. Various characteristic plots for visualization and analysis are made available in GUI. The obtained parameters from the GUI are then utilized in computer-aided designing (CAD) for further identification of geometrical parameters like inertia tensor, center of gravity (CG) and center of pressure (CP). The mathematical control amenable model of the rocket is then developed using first principles so as to achieve an altitude up to 3 km. The overall system represents a complex nonlinear multi-input multi-output (MIMO) dynamics, having six degrees of freedom. The Newton-Euler formulation is employed to develop the equations of motion. The attitude control using canards is analyzed via simulations for the complete flight path - the boost and coast flights. Finally, the developed GUI based model is validated by practically manufacturing the components of the propulsion system for the small-scale high-power rocket. The proposed model will create the pathway for the development of some robust model-based control schemes for such autonomous rockets in future. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

This paper studies a path following problem of autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) in complex and harsh working environment. Firstly, a kinematic model of an AUV in the vertical plane is built by constructing an earth coordinate system and a body coordinate system. Secondly, a guidance pitch angle is proposed by using a double dipole vector field, and guidance speeds are designed based on the back-stepping method. Finally, the stability of the proposed control system is proved by Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the real-time safe path following control of autonomous underwater vehicles based on double dipole vector field. © 2024 Asian control Association.

The improvement of 5G networks started in 2019 and is commonly accepted to bring changes not restricted to individuals' day-by-day life. The interconnection between the nodes of 5G network is realized through the utilization of optical transceiver modules and optical fibers. The most interesting part in the 5G communication network is the communication between the Central Office (CO) and the Base Station (BS), which has been widely investigated by several researchers to enhance and optimize such network performance. As a result, in this paper we demonstrate, design and implemented a) based on Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM Radio over Fiber (RoF) system and by using the software of Optisystem 17.1 version. Such system is considered a 32X40 Gbps of data transmission for higher speed transmission system towards the Tera bit per second (Tbps) communication. The channels of 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28 and 32 were selected as samples for the investigation. The performance analysis would be based on the parameters of the eye diagram, (Quality Factor) Q-factor and Min Bit Error Rate (BER) and for distances of 60, 120 and 180 km respectively. Analyzing results indicate a higher performance system toward the 1.28 Tbps of data rate transmission. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Job-dependent tool switching is necessary in many batch processing systems (BPSs). Heterogeneous tool demand and extra time consumption for tool switch bring great challenge for high-performance production scheduling in BPSs. In this study, we present a novel batch scheduling problem derived from a satellite vibration test system. Different from basic scheduling problems in BPSs with tool switching, it has complications caused by many-to-many task-tool matching and job release time constraints. Specifically, each job has predetermined candidate tools. One of them should be selected and equipped to process a given job. Unlike sequence-dependent setup time that is only related to two adjacent jobs, tool switching time is additionally dependent on the tools selected by both jobs from their respective candidate tools. Both job sequence and tool selections need to be determined to minimize makespan. Mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) and constraint programming (CP) models are developed for formulating the problem. We prove that the problem is NP hard. To obtain exact solutions, we propose a novel branch-and-bound algorithm (B&B) based on the analysis and extraction of problem properties. It integrates a domain reduction mechanism, branching strategies, and dominance rules. Among them, the domain reduction mechanism reduces the number of jobs to be scheduled;the branching strategies accelerate solving speed;and the dominance rules save the memory consumption. Ablation studies and key influencing factor experiments are performed. The results show that the proposed B&B can optimally solve much larger instances than state-of-the-art methods (including some heuristics). It can optimally solve industrial-size problems in a short time, implying that it can well satisfy the performance demand of a satellite vibration test system and thus advancing the filed of optimal scheduling for BPSs. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

This study investigates the application of Super-Resolution techniques in holographic microscopy to enhance quantitative phase imaging. An off-axis Mach-Zehnder interferometric setup was employed to capture interferograms. The study evaluates two Super-Resolution models, RCAN and Real-ESRGAN, for their effectiveness in reconstructing high-resolution interferograms from a microparticle-based dataset. The models were assessed using two primary approaches: image-based analysis for structural detail enhancement and morphological evaluation for maintaining sample integrity and phase map accuracy. The results demonstrate that RCAN achieves superior numerical precision, making it ideal for applications requiring highly accurate phase map reconstruction, while Real-ESRGAN enhances visual quality and structural coherence, making it suitable for visualization-focused applications. This study highlights the potential of Super-Resolution models in overcoming diffraction-imposed resolution limitations in holographic microscopy, opening the way for improved imaging techniques in biomedical diagnostics, materials science, and other high-precision fields. © 2025, CC BY.

This article proposes a variable frequency phase-shift modulation technique for single stage dual-active-bridge (DAB) AC-DC converter. This isolated single-stage single-phase converter consists of a DAB and a full bridge (FB) inverter. The proposed strategy applies a composite control strategy combining frequency modulation and extended phase shift (EPS) method to overcome the drawback of the non-linear power control of traditional phase-shift control scheme, which significantly reduces the complexity of the controller algorithm. Moreover, the synchronous inverter control applied to the back-end FB inverter is designed, which can realize the energy conversions in a single-stage, and a high frequency (HF) filter capacitor can replace the electrolytic capacitor at the output side DC-link. Thus, the safety of system operation improves and the power density of the system increases. Finally, simulation results confirm the validity and practical feasibility of the proposed control strategy. © 2023 The Korean Institute of Power Electronics.

The skin lesion can be thought of as a biological system, so the morpho-granulometry of significant color clusters found in skin lesions is one of the elements that reproduce in a natural way the structure of the lesion, this novelty is highlighted in this study. Important features of skin lesions can be modulated by fusing neural networks (NN) and machine learning (ML). By choosing the nevus and melanoma classes, the primary goal was accomplished, and three databases were used to test the methodology. The characteristics based on morpho-granulometry allowed for the identification of microstructure within the images, which can be very helpful in characterizing the biological system. Based on random forest (RF) and extreme gradient boosting (XGboost) classifiers, this work aimed to improve the classification performance of important feature selection. The selected features from three free image databases with three NNs were classified. In a binary classification of nevus vs. melanoma, the results showed that the pattern recognition neural network (PRNN), according to the PH2 database, provided an accuracy of 0.923 and an F1-score of 0.876. The classification is interpretable if it is not validated. In our study, the best results were verified with a logistic regression (LR) classifier.
