Integrated intelligent system for functional diagnosis

The article reports on the importance of correct medical diagnosis to ensure an effective monitoring and prophylactic medical attendance. The method for developing a functional diagnosis is described. The use of an integrated intelligence system is specified for the analysis of functional diagnosis in the field of medicine. It involves a background expert system having some specialized information basis and *** evaluation of the respiratory function was performed and information gathered using the intelligent system.

For the biggest wind tunnel in Asia, during the aerodynamic research on the scale models, it is difficult to keep the Mach number in the test section and the stagnation pressure constant strictly because the interaction is strong, the operation conditions change abruptly and the transient response's requirements are high. To cope with these problems, a Hierarchical Multiple Models Adaptive Decoupling controller (HMMADC) is presented in this paper. The controller is composed of multiple fixed controller models and two adaptive controller models. Multiple models are used to improve the transient response of the wind tunnel. Hierarchical structure is presented to reduce the number of the fixed models greatly. Adaptive Decoupling controller not only decouples the system dynamically but also places the poles of the closed loop system arbitrarily. The significance of the proposed method is that it is applicable to a MIMO system with a much small number of models. The global convergence is obtained. Finally, several simulation examples in a wind tunnel experiment are given to show both effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.

In this paper an alternative approach to non-linear predictive control is presented. It is based on iterative linearisation of the model response so that the same closed loop responses as in the pure non-linear approach are obtained but with reduced computation times and more efficient optimisation tools. The method is applied to a high purity distillation column and some results are presented showing the behaviour of the proposed algorithm.

The stirring motion of shear layer vortices plays a prominent and often critical role in diverse engineering applications. Periodic zero net flow actuation is an established mechanism to effect shear layer instability and growth. Active feedback control is considered here as a means to regulate and maximize shear layer mixing: Feedback utilizes estimated vortex locations to harmonize actuation with vortex release. We propose an observer structure based on a phenomenological dynamic phasor model for the travelling waveform of sensors' readings, and illustrate its use in simulations and open and closed loop experiments with the backward facing step system, and in free shear layer simulations.

A systematic methodology for generating multi-folded torus chaotic attractors from a simple three-dimensional piecewise-linear system is presented in this paper. Theoretical analysis shows that multi-folded torus chaotic attractors can be created via alternative switching between two piecewise-linear systems. A novel circuit diagram is designed for physically creating multi-folded torus chaotic attractors. This is the first time in the literature to experimentally verify a maximum 9-folded torus chaotic attractor that is generated by an analog circuit.

This paper discusses a design flow for multithread object-oriented real-time applications, running on top of an embedded, platform-based, customizable Java processor, which is prototyped using affordable FPGAs. The proposed approach enforces design space exploration activities, taking into account aspects like temporal behavior, memory footprint, and power/energy consumption. A case study containing a task scheduler implementation as both software and hardware modules is presented. While both implementations are compatible with the developed program from an interface point of view, they lead to different timing and footprint requirements. Their evaluation in terms of memory occupation and number of FPGA logic cells is presented.

The growing complexity of today's embedded real-time systems demands new methods and tools in order to manage the problems of design, analysis, integration and validation of complex systems. This paper describes an object-oriented platform-based design process for real-time embedded systems. The proposed approach promotes a smooth transition from high-level UML specification to implementation, which is composed by hardware and software components. The transition from higher to lower abstraction levels is facilitated by the use of an OO realtime API, whose underlying facilities can be optimized according to the application needs and selected platform. An integrated toolset is used to support the intermediate steps of the design process. In order to illustrate the proposed approach and related toolset the design of an embedded real-time automation system for an "intelligent" wheelchair is presented.

Currently the doubly fed induction machine (DFIM) is often used in wind power plants. The digital rotor current controller is always based on DFIM models linearized within a sampling period which does not correspond to the nonlinear nature of the DFIM. The use of network-based control has become widespread in building automation systems. BACnet(building automation and control networks) adopts master-slave/ token-passing(MS/TP) protocol as one of its local area networks. This study introduces a bandwidth allocation scheme in the MS/IP protocol. The bandwidth allocation scheme improves the capability of real-time communication of the original MSA IT protocol. The bandwidth allocation scheme introduced in this paper can he easily implemented in the existing MS/TP protocol with a slight modification. In this study, we examined the validity of bandwidth allocation scheme using simulation models. The results from the simulation experiment show that the proposed scheme satisfies the requirements of real-time communication.

An algebraic formulation is proposed for the static output feedback (SOF) problem: the Hermite stability criterion is applied on the closed-loop characteristic polynomial, resulting in a non-convex bilinear matrix inequality (BMI) optimization problem for SIMO or MISO systems. As a result, the BMI problem is formulated directly in the controller parameters, without additional Lyapunov variables. The publicly available solver PENBMI 2.0 interfaced with YALMIP 3.0 is then applied to solve benchmark examples. Implementation and numerical aspects are widely discussed.
