The increasing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) as a sustainable and efficient alternative to conventional gasoline-powered vehicles highlights the critical need for a reliable and effective charging infrastructure. This paper introduces an advanced control strategy for a power-split hybrid transmission system, which integrates a bi-directional DC-DC converter to optimize power management in hybrid and electric vehicle applications. The system architecture, incorporating a planetary gear system alongside motor and generator components, functions as a variable ratio gear, enabling smooth and efficient energy distribution. MATLAB/Simulink simulations assessed the system's performance under acceleration and regenerative braking conditions, highlighting the converter's ability to manage energy flow effectively between the battery and motor. The research investigates the differences between isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters, highlighting the benefits of both designs in a variety of applications. Isolated converters improve safety and noise isolation;however, non-isolated systems are more compact and cost-effective. The results demonstrate the proposed system's ability to utilize electrical power exclusively during vehicle maneuvers, optimize energy efficiency, and reduce reliance on mechanical power. This research underscores the potential for advanced DC-DC converter topologies to enhance power management strategies in hybrid systems, providing valuable insights for future innovations in energy storage, power conversion, and electric vehicle technologies. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper examine the challenges posed by conventional sliding mode design in the presence of matching/nonmatching disturbances. Previously designed approaches have proven inadequate in offering an efficient and straightforward solution to non-matching disturbances. To overcome this, a novel sliding mode control strategy centered on a non-smooth integral sliding manifold is introduced. The newly proposed sliding manifold possesses two crucial characteristics. Firstly, it functions transform to a reduced-order disturbance observer by autonomously estimating the mismatched disturbances, eliminating the need for an additional observer design. Secondly, the system consistently initiates its operation from the sliding surface, eliminating any reaching phase dynamics. As a result, the system trajectory remains resilient to disturbances right from the outset. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, it is simulated for a coupled tank system.

This paper concerns robust consensus problems for continuous-time first-order multi-agent systems with respect to uncertain gain and phase of the agent’s frequency response varying within certain ranges. We consider dynamic output feedback control protocol in the form of proportional-integral (PI) control. The agents can in general be nonminimum phase and unstable systems, which are interconnected by an undirected graph network. We seek to determine the largest ranges of gain and phase variations, referred to as the gain consensus margin (GCM) and the phase consensus margin (PCM), respectively, so that consensus can be achieved robustly within these ranges. Our main results consist of explicit analytical expressions of the GCM and PCM, which demonstrate how the agent’s unstable pole and nonminimum phase zero, as well as the network connectivity may fundamentally confine the gain and phase variation ranges so that consensus can or cannot be maintained.

Quantifying the average communication rate (ACR) of a networked event-triggered stochastic control system (NET-SCS) with deterministic thresholds is challenging due to the non-stationary nature of the system's stochastic processes. For a NET-SCS, the propagation of nonlinear statistics of the network communication status brought up by deterministic thresholds makes the precise computation of ACR difficult. Previous work used to over-simplify the computation using a Gaussian distribution without incorporating this nonlinearity, leading to sacrificed precision. This paper proposes a novel approach to calculate the exact ACR for a NET-SCS using a recursive model. We use theoretical analysis and a numerical study to qualitatively evaluate the deviation gap of the conventional approach that ignores the side information. The accuracy of our proposed method, alongside its comparison with the simplified results of the conventional approach, is validated by experimental studies. Our work is promising to benefit the efficient resource planning of networked control systems with limited communication resources by providing accurate ACR computation. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper investigates the problem of Spacecraft Formation-Containment Flying control(SFCFC)when the desired translational velocity is *** SFCFC problem,there are multiple leader spacecraft and multiple follower spacecraft and SFCFC can be divided into leader spacecraft’s formation control and follower spacecraft’s containment ***,under the condition that only a part of leader spacecraft can have access to the desired time-varying translational velocity,a velocity estimator is designed for each leader ***,based on the estimated translational velocity,a distributed formation control algorithm is designed for leader spacecraft to achieve the desired formation and move with the desired translational velocity ***,to ensure all follower spacecraft converge to the convex hull formed by the leader spacecraft,a distributed containment control algorithm is designed for follower ***,to reduce the dependence of the designed control algorithms on the graph information and increase system robustness,the control gains are changing adaptively and the parametric uncertainties are handled,***,simulation results are provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

The insertion of a needle for many scientific researches is an important aspect to consider and is the simplest and most diagnostic of the medical and interventional procedures. In needle based medical procedures, a flexible needle is directed at the soft tissue to achieve a predefined target position. The efficiency of the needle insertion depends on the precise control of the tip of the needle. This article provides a complete mechanical model for inserting needles into soft tissues. The proposed needle insertion model depends on the insertion speed as the input, which can then be used as a needle direction control. The model considers the length of needle and bevel angle. Various experiments were performed that inserts a needle into biological tissue. The results show the accuracy of the proposed system at different application speeds with an error of up to 2 mm. © 2021 IEEE.

Sequential fusion estimation for multisensor systems with non-Gaussian noises

The sequential fusion estimation for multisensor systems disturbed by non-Gaussian but heavytailed noises is studied in this paper. Based on multivariate t-distribution and the approximate t-filter,the sequential fusion algorithm is presented. The performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed and compared with the t-filter-based centralized batch fusion and the Gaussian Kalman filter-based optimal centralized fusion. Theoretical analysis and exhaustive experimental analysis show that the proposed algorithm is effective. As the generalization of the classical Gaussian Kalman filter-based optimal sequential fusion algorithm, the presented algorithm is shown to be superior to the Gaussian Kalman filter-based optimal centralized batch fusion and the optimal sequential fusion in estimation of dynamic systems with non-Gaussian noises.

The powerful representational and sequential modeling capabilities of Transformer have been validated in various fields such as natural language processing. However, how to better address sequential decision-making problems like robotic grasping through the Transformer architecture and achieve autonomous control of robotic grasping remains a longstanding challenge. Models that directly output continuous decision actions for robotic arms often rely on mean squared error (MSE) loss for training, which is unable to effectively handle the randomness and diversity of actions. This limitation leads to the generation of relatively singular actions in certain grasping scenarios, reducing the success rate of grasping. To address this issue, this paper proposes a Transformer-based method for discretizing robotic arm actions, where actions are discretized by dimension to enable autoregressive modeling. Experimental results demonstrate that this method effectively improves the grasping performance of robotic arms in simulation environments.

Natural calamities like earthquake and tsunami wreak havoc on life of so many people and the infrastructure, thus saving people who are trapped in the affected region has been a very difficult task for rescuers. This work aims to develop a system which will ease this task for the rescuers by using behavior based multiple robots that will explore, map, localize, path plan and navigate in an unknown environment. Various incarnations of pre-existing meta-heuristic algorithms are used to develop a cost-effective solution in this work. A random walk exploration is used to explore the entire environment effectively which reduces the computational cost and time. To reduce the complexities of mapping, binary occupancy grid is used for the map layout, which is not as efficient as compared to its counterparts but better, where time is the crucial factor. To identify the efficient path to navigate from source to destination positions in the environment, Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm is used in this paper. The last and the most crucial step of the system is navigation towards the destination. By integrating INS and GPS algorithms, the robot can get an almost perfect algorithm for navigation which is not prone to errors. Autonomous robot exploration, mapping and navigation are achieved by integrating the proposed algorithms to work simultaneously. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithms is analyzed through simulations in Webots virtual simulator environment, and the results are presented. Adapting the proposed exploration technique for swarm of robots is a prospective future research direction of this paper. © 2022 IEEE.
