This paper proposes a comprehensive methodology for Field-Oriented control (FOC) with parameter variation analysis for Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (IPMSM). The modeling approach for an IPMSM is first presented, followed by a step-by-step procedure for designing a vector-controlled strategy. The formulation is based on a dq-rotating reference frame aligned with the rotor shaft position. A key distinction of this methodology from traditional approaches is that the current controller is designed in the time domain based on desired time constants, while the speed control is formulated within a frequency response domain framework. The proposed hybrid approach enables accurate tuning of the Proportional-Integrator (PI) controllers for both current and speed control loops. Additionally, a parameter variation analysis is conducted to enhance the proposed methodology. The validity region for the design procedure is presented, ensuring that for any wide speed variation of the machine, loop gains are properly tuned. One of the main advantages of the proposed methodology is that it provides a fast, reliable, and accurate technique for implementing IPMSM drive systems. Results from a controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (C-HIL) setup with an external microcontroller are presented. The comprehensive design approach is validated under two different IPMSM parameter sets, demonstrating its effectiveness.

In this paper, flatness-based control theory is developed to enhance the dynamic performance of a multiport energy router. The energy router integrates multiple power sources and sinks, including photovoltaic systems, battery storage, the grid, and various loads. Consequently, any sudden change in a subsystem can induce dynamic conditions across the entire system. The presented method controls the grid-side inverter and regulates the de link voltage. To implement this control approach, the system equations have been established, and it has been demonstrated that the system is differentially flat. Afterward, the controller design has been addressed. The simulation results confirm the proper performance of this method, and the comparisons made validate the high speed and accuracy of the system responses compared to conventional solutions.

This paper studies the observer-based eventtriggered neural asynchronous control problem of nonhomogeneous Markov jump power systems (MJPSs) under hybrid cyberattacks. Both periodic denial-of-service attacks and deception attacks (DAs) are involved because of the openness of networks. An event-triggered mechanism is established to ease the network load. Besides, neural network (NN) approaches are adopted to suppress the adverse effects of DAs on nonhomogeneous MJPSs, and the hidden Markov model (HMM) is employed to capture the asynchronous phenomenon between the system mode and the controller mode. With NN approaches and HMM, an observer-based NN asynchronous controller is designed. By constructing the mode- and parameter-dependent Lyapunov function, sufficient criteria ensuring boundedness in probability for nonhomogeneous MJPSs are obtained. Then, a design algorithm is shown to simultaneously obtain the controller gains, observer gains, and event-triggering weight matrices based on the established conditions. Finally, the single-machine infinitebus power system and 3-machine 6-bus power system are applied to justify the validity of the proposed algorithm. © 1969-2012 IEEE.

The problems associated with the operation of overhead power lines and ways of improving control over their condition with the help of UAVs are considered. A structural diagram of the system of technical diagnostics of overhead lines based on UAVs was developed, for which the necessary diagnostic parameters were selected according to informative criteria. An analysis of types of UAVs was carried out in order to determine their suitability and efficiency of use for diagnosing the condition of overhead lines. © 2023 IEEE.

This study conducts a comprehensive analysis of optimizing the speed profile of an AE-bus, a critical step in enhancing its operational efficiency. It encompasses three distinct case studies, each targeting specific objectives. The first case emphasizes energy consumption reduction, contributing to overall resource efficiency. The second focuses on eco-conscious speed profiles within predefined travel durations, balancing environmental sustainability and timeliness. The third case prioritizes travel time minimization for streamlined efficiency. Detailed insights into speed adjustments, bus positions, and energy consumption patterns are provided for each case. The findings reveal tailored approaches for energy conservation, speed, and travel time optimization. Additionally, emissions analysis demonstrates that electric buses significantly reduce CO 2 emissions compared to conventional NGV buses, showcasing their potential for environmental benefits.

In substations, violations such as smoking may lead to equipment damage and even threaten the safety of personnel. In this paper, a GhostNetV2-YOLOv5 based algorithm for detecting smoking by substation personnel is proposed. The algorithm uses GhostNetV2 as the backbone network to improve the accuracy of the model while achieving real-time detection of smoking behavior. The experimental results show that the method can improve the detection speed of the model without reducing the detection accuracy, and compared with the original YOLOv5 algorithm, the total mAP is improved by 2.58% and the prediction speed is improved by 1.61 times, which is superior to other smoking detection networks and has practical application value.

This paper is dealt with the problem of prescribed performance control (PPC) for the strict-feedback systems with piecewise continuous references. The discontinuity of the reference results in the abrupt variations of the tracking error and the intermediate errors, which renders the existing PPC designs challenging. To overcome this difficulty, a tuning function-based approach to adapting the performance funnels is proposed. In this way, the performance functions are reasonably modified in accordance with the discontinuity of the errors, such that all the errors converge to the predefined bounds in the given time after the discontinuity occurs. Moreover, this approach is compatible with the standard PPC method in the sense that it preserves the inherent robustness of PPC against the model uncertainties of the system. Despite unknown nonlinearities, there is no need to employ neural networks or fuzzy logic systems for approximation. The simulation results on a single-link robotic manipulator illustrate the theoretical findings.

This study addresses the formation control problem of under-actuated unmanned surface vehicle (USV) swarm systems and designs an obstacle avoidance strategy for navigating in obstacle environments. The intermittent communication scheme, consisting of the working period and the rest period, is introduced to reduce the communication burden and the consumption of control resources. A distributed formation control strategy is designed to guarantee the realization of the desired formation configuration. Considering the potential impact of obstacles in the operating environment, the artificial potential field repulsion obstacle avoidance method is embedded into the formation control strategy. To eliminate the impact of exogenous disturbances, a disturbance observer is established using the partially known disturbance information. Sufficient conditions are provided to ensure the uniformly ultimate boundedness of the formation error and disturbance observation error. In addition, an energy function related to the obstacle position information is designed to verify that the desired obstacle avoidance behavior can be achieved. The feasibility of theoretical analysis is validated by applying the developed control strategy to surface formation cruise missions. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper is concerned with the reference tracking control problem for strict-feedback systems with unknown nonlinear functions under mismatched disturbances. A tuning function-based prescribed performance control strategy is proposed to solve the problem. In the control design, the tuning function is employed to adjust the output tracking error and the intermediate tracking errors. In this way, the dependence of the performance specifications on the initial condition of the closed loop is relaxed. Then, a set of barrier functions are adopted to confine the resulting error signals, while the potential robustness of the barrier functions is thoroughly revealed. By doing so, it is guaranteed that all the real errors converge from any initial positions to the preassigned sets in the given time. The simulation results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control.

This paper introduces a framework to reduce operational costs in active distribution systems by utilizing battery energy storage systems. It employs a two-stage stochastic programming approach involving Here-and-Now and Wait-and-See decisions. The scheduling problem is studied as a mixed-integer linear programming model in GAMS and solved using the CPLEX solver. A feeder from an active electricity distribution network is chosen to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Operating costs are evaluated under varying scenarios with and without energy storage across seasons. The research contributes to the literature by providing a comprehensive analysis of the strategic role of Battery Energy Storage System in optimizing operational efficiency and enhancing flexibility in active distribution networks. The findings underscore the critical value of energy storage in reducing costs and managing uncertainties in energy operations, as validated by the simulation results demonstrating the economic benefits of the proposed strategy.
