This paper presents a new methodology for the data processing and classification method for gait disorders, which is observed with a Kinect camera. The study of gait and motion stability in gait disorders is one of the most interesting research areas in the field. The patient and the physician must monitor the progress of the rehabilitation process before and after surgery to obtain an objective view of the rehabilitation process. In this study, the patient is scanned with the Kinect camera placed on a mobile robotic platform. For feature extraction and feature analysis, the exercises (three walking exercises) frames are collected and saved in data folders. This study uses 84 measurements of 37 patients with complex observations based on the physician's opinion in a clinical setting to address classification problems. In the analysis of gait disorders, motion data play an essential role. Furthermore, it reduces the selection of helpful body features for assessing gait disorders. The proposed system uses a key-point detector that computes body landmarks and classifies gait disorders using triple-parallel long short-term memory (LSTM) networks. The present study demonstrates the success of the method in classification evaluation when combined with the state-of-the-art pose estimation method. Around 81 percent accuracy was achieved for given sets of individuals using velocity-based, angle-based, and position-based features. © 2023 IEEE.

Traditional automation engineering education using physical training equipment while quite effective, suffers from several limitations in the case there is no equipment access, which can be due to many reasons such as social distancing or financial difficulties. This article proposes a solution to overcome these limitations with the combinational use of mixed reality (MR), which helps the student get used to training equipment they have no access to, and augmented reality (AR), which brings intuitive visualization into real equipment practice. © 2023 IEEE.

TheUAV pursuit-evasion problem focuses on the efficient tracking and capture of evading targets using unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs),which is pivotal in public safety applications,particularly in scenarios involving intrusion monitoring and *** address the challenges of data acquisition,real-world deployment,and the limited intelligence of existing algorithms in UAV pursuit-evasion tasks,we propose an innovative swarm intelligencebased UAV pursuit-evasion control framework,namely“Boids Model-based DRL Approach for Pursuit and Escape”(Boids-PE),which synergizes the strengths of swarm intelligence from bio-inspired algorithms and deep reinforcement learning(DRL).The Boids model,which simulates collective behavior through three fundamental rules,separation,alignment,and cohesion,is adopted in our *** integrating Boids model with the Apollonian Circles algorithm,significant improvements are achieved in capturing UAVs against simple evasion *** further enhance decision-making precision,we incorporate a DRL algorithm to facilitate more accurate strategic *** also leverage self-play training to continuously optimize the performance of pursuit *** experimental evaluation,we meticulously designed both one-on-one and multi-to-one pursuit-evasion scenarios,customizing the state space,action space,and reward function models for each *** simulations,supported by the PyBullet physics engine,validate the effectiveness of our proposed *** overall results demonstrate that Boids-PE significantly enhance the efficiency and reliability of UAV pursuit-evasion tasks,providing a practical and robust solution for the real-world application of UAV pursuit-evasion missions.

This article delves into the synergistic potential of integrating Bipolar DC distribution grids, Probabilistic EV load demand forecasting, and Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. It offers a blueprint for electric vehicle (EV) users to smartly improve their financial results. Through the amalgamation of these components, individuals who possess electric vehicles have the potential to mitigate their energy expenditures while concurrently generating additional income. The study reveals that the integration of EV into the distribution system can lead to a substantial increase in daily energy loss, reaching up to 25.91%. However, when V2G technology is employed within the distribution grid, it has the remarkable capability to mitigate this increase in daily energy loss significantly, achieving a reduction of up to 64.12%. © 2024 IEEE.

Fault diagnosis in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) is important to protect communities and ecosystems from toxic elements discharged into water. In this sense, fault identification of sensors plays an important role as they are the key components of the water plants control, especially because environmental legislation is very strict when referring to failures or anomalies in WWTPs. This paper analyzes the performances of two Deep Learning models, a Feedforward Neural Network (FFNN) and a 1D Convolution Neural Network (1DCNN) for identifying five operating states of the dissolved oxygen (DO) sensor: normal and faulty (bias, stuck, spike and precision degradation faults). The experiments were conducted on the Benchmark Simulator Model No 2 (BSM2) developed by the IWA Task Group. The performance of the Deep Learning (DL) classifiers was evaluated via accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics. The best overall classification accuracy was obtained by FFNN, 98.32% for training and 98.30% for testing. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, an attempt is made for the first time to use the measurement pattern generated by morphological transformation quantified by Hausdorff fractal dimension (HFD) and classified with ensemble learning based on bagging. The proposed work uses three morphological transformations for image preprocessing: hit-and-miss transform (HMT), white (WHT), and black top-hat (BHT). The pattern texture of US breast images is described by extracting the HFD from the regions of interest (ROI) after the ultrasound (US) images have been preprocessed. The main objective of this study was achieved by comparatively analyzing the classification performance of features using the Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET) classifier, and bagging ensemble method based on XGBoot classifier. In presented study, the XGBoost classifier and BHT image processing method give an accuracy of 89.8% in a binary classification, benign versus malignant breast cancer. © 2024 IEEE.

The HVAC system is one of the major power consuming equipment in buildings. Considering the effective setpoint temperature of each zone can increase efficiency in managing power usage in buildings, leading to the operating cost reduction. This paper presents the design of supervisory control (SC) for multi-zone HVAC systems that aims to minimize the total operating cost (TOC) and the thermal comfort cost (TCC). To minimize the TOC and TCC, both objectives are normalized and combined as a quadratic programming (QP) problem which can be efficiently solved. To achieve the design objective, two methods of SC are developed for multi-zone, namely, centralized SC and decentralized SC. We apply standard QP and sparse QP solvers using interior point method. The numerical results reveal that centralized SC performs better according to a tradeoff curve which TOC and TCC are lower. While both solvers give the same results, sparse solver can provide the solutions faster than interior point method. This paper demonstrates that centralized control is appropriate for implementation in multi-zones buildings and the sparse solver proves to be more suitable in the context of sparse QP problem.

This article presents the development of electric motor torque meter using microcontroller together with dynamometer process and application of light process to find out revolutions per minute (RPM) which torque is a variable that affects the effectiveness of electrical machine. A torque meter is, therefore, a tool that has an important role to work with mechanical part. The torque meter and RPM was tested and found that there is an error of torque measure at 13.74 percent and found that the torque has higher errors when it exceeds 2 N-m and there is an error of RPM at 5.36 percent. © 2024 IEEE.

Aiming at the problem that the combination of self-play (SP) and deep reinforcement learning (DRL) only involves two-party games and the policy learning of each party is limited, a multi-party asymmetric self-play algorithm (MASP) is proposed. Firstly, by improving the ELO scoring system, the ELO scoring takes into account each party of the unmanned surface vehicle (USV) clusters, and the imbalance of the number of USV clusters, so that the frequency of exchanging strategies of all USV clusters in the confrontation process is equal. Secondly, it ensures that USV clusters have a balanced combat ability, and at the same time ensures that the combat ability of all parties is strong and weak and the gap is not too wide. In addition, the parameters are dynamically set to reduce the update frequency of the policy of the stronger party. The experimental results show that the MASP can make the USV clusters learn more effective policies, have a shorter game time, and obtain higher rewards and ELO scores in the simple 2v2 adversarial game scenario and the three-party game scenario of a warship escort mission. © 2024 ACM.

Smart and flexible control is needed in contemporary electrical *** maintain a balance between power generation and usage, especially during major disruptions. Microgrids primarily rely on naturally fluctuating renewable energy sources (RES) for electricity generation. Power system fluctuations make traditional controllers inadequate for optimal performance across Diverse operational scenarios. To enhance frequency performance in an isolated AC microgrid, this paper focuses on a fuzzy PI (FPI) controller that can adjust control measures for fluctuating frequency in the face of uncertainties such as abrupt load changes and variation in solar irradiance. A comparative study was conducted to demonstrate the superior performance of the FPI in regulating frequency in an isolated AC microgrid system. © 2023 IEEE.
