This paper is concerned with a class of second-order nonlinear time-varying systems. Unlike the complex requirements on time-varying parameters in other articles, our approach only requires that the time-varying parameters are bounded and the nonlinear functions are continuous. Based on the backstepping method and the prescribed performance control theory, a robust, identification-free and tracking controller is designed. It guarantees that the output tracking error meets the prescribed performance requirements and all the signals in the closed-loop system are bounded. Finally, a simulation example is presented to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. © 2022 IEEE.

In the financial market,investors often adopt the downside risk that is associated with investment losses to depict the magnitude of the potential investment *** the literatures,some popular downside risks such as Semi-Variance,Value at Risk(VaR) and Conditional Value at Risk(CVaR) have been proposed for evaluating the risk concerning the extent of *** to the numerous volatile factors in the investment market,the risk measurement of uncertain investment period has gradually attracted the attention of the scholars and has become the focus of the related research *** this research,we attempt to develop a new risk assessment called Expected Risk(ER) motived from the data fitting for quantifying the potential extent to the investment failures related to the uncertain investment *** preliminary computational results are provided to show the rationality of the developed risk assessment.

This paper investigates the problem of model-free tracking control of a class of multi-input multi-output nonlinear systems with inputs coupling and external disturbances. A novel directly adaptive prescribed performance controller with the constraint transformation and the Nussbaum gain technique is developed. It guarantees that the system outputs track the reference signals with the prescribed rate, overshoot and accuracy. The controller depends on information of neither the multiplicative and additive system nonlinearities nor the external disturbances. Even so, no neural networks, fuzzy logic systems or disturbance observers are employed, yielding a simple control algorithm. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

The distributed nonconvex optimization problem of minimizing a global cost function formed by a sum of n local cost functions by using local information exchange is *** problem is an important component of many machine learning techniques with data parallelism,such as deep learning and federated *** propose a distributed primal-dual stochastic gradient descent(SGD)algorithm,suitable for arbitrarily connected communication networks and any smooth(possibly nonconvex)cost *** show that the proposed algorithm achieves the linear speedup convergence rate O(1/(√nT))for general nonconvex cost functions and the linear speedup convergence rate O(1/(nT)) when the global cost function satisfies the Polyak-Lojasiewicz(P-L)condition,where T is the total number of *** also show that the output of the proposed algorithm with constant parameters linearly converges to a neighborhood of a global *** demonstrate through numerical experiments the efficiency of our algorithm in comparison with the baseline centralized SGD and recently proposed distributed SGD algorithms.

The Robotic Mobile Fulfillment Systems(RMFS) is a new kind of parts-to-picker picking *** RMFS,Automated Guided Vehicles(AGV) transports the mobile shelf(called "pod")to the picking *** picking the goods,AGV sends the pod back to the storage area for *** research focuses on the cooperative optimization of pod repositioning and AGV task allocation in RMFS.A heuristic method based on auction is designed to solve the problem,and an experimental study is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented heuristic *** results show that the mix assignment rule is a good choice,compared to the sequence assignment of pods and tasks respectively.

This paper investigates the tracking control problem for the multi-input multi-output nonlinear systems with sensor faults, actuator faults and external disturbances. A fault-tolerant decoupling funnel control scheme is designed. The controller is composed of a group of barrier functions, without knowledge of the system nonlinearities, faults or disturbances, except for the know control direction. It is robust and passive in the sense that no function approximation, disturbance estimation, fault diagnosis or control reconfiguration is deployed. It guarantees that the system outputs track the reference signals with the pre-specified transient and steady-state performance, even the actuator faults and sensor faults happen simultaneously. Finally, the simulation results on a two-link robotic manipulator illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

In Industry 4.0 background,unmanned fullprocess automated production has gradually become a hot topic,and the realization of intelligent and information factory requires the joint cooperation of multiple industries,in which the inspection device that replaces traditional manual work is an inescapable *** present,domestic and foreign research on intelligent inspection trolley is focused on obstacle avoidance function based on various *** this context,it is introduced an algorithm based on monocular camera as a sensor,using Python language to access OpenCV library,and utilizing Gaussian filter function and Canny operator-based image contour extraction to complete the distance *** algorithm can achieve the distance measurement and obstacle avoidance function at a lower *** test results show that the system can automatically identify the distance of obstacles in the inspection process,and according to the visual information captured by the camera in real time,it can independently generate steering action and collision reminder,and can complete the preliminary requirement of intelligent inspection.

This paper investigates the continuous-time unconstrained optimization via dynamical gradient flow systems. For strongly convex objective functions, a gradient flow with predefined time convergence is proposed, which is suitable for relaxing the objective function to only satisfy the PolyakLojasiewicz (P-L) condition. A predefined-time convergent Newton's flow is designed for the minimization of strictly convex functions. The proposed result is extended for strongly convex objective functions with time-varying parameters. In our schemes, the upper bound of convergence time can be used as a prior choice without involving system initialization and complex parameter calculations. The convergence of algorithms is rigorously proved by using the Lyapunov method. Numerical simulation illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed methods. © 2024 IEEE.

A dynamic utopia point updating strategy for multi-objective optimization

Multi-objective optimization problems widely exist in engineering practice, which are usually solved by repeatedly searching Pareto fronts. However, the search process faces the challenges of heavy computational burden and local optimality. To overcome these difficulties, a novel utopia optimization method is developed in the paper, where the multi-objective problems are converted into single-objective ones without repeatedly searching, and then the computational burden is reduced. In particular, different from the classical utopia optimization, where the utopia point is always fixed during the whole optimization process, a dynamical updating strategy is proposed by comparing the current optimization solution and the original utopia point, and the local optimality problem is also solved. Moreover, an improved particle swarm optimization method with the Logistic map and adaptive weights is developed to further enhance the computing ability of the optimization solution. Finally, three examples are taken for simulations, and the results indicate that the relative errors between the global optimums and the optimal values are respectively reduced by 1.45, 1.06, and 0.14, compared with the existing approaches. © 2025 International Society of automation
