Multi-Agent formation involves the motion conflicts of large numbers of physical systems, which leads to significant safety challenges in terms of collision/obstacle avoidance. This paper studies the problem of collision/obstacle avoidance formation tracking for a class of high-order strict-feedback nonlinear multi-agent systems and presents a dynamic formation reconfiguration method. First, a smooth and analytic reference trajectory is constructed, which consists of a convex combination of preset trajectory and delayed target trajectory with its coefficient adaptively adjusted by two barrier functions to avoid collisions. Then, a distributed backstepping control scheme with high-order filtering for barrier functions is proposed. Resultantly, all agents adaptively reconfigure their formation shape within the barrier function’s coverage to avoid collisions with each other and obstacles, while quickly forming a pre-defined shape of formation following the target trajectory outside the barrier function’s coverage. Simulation results are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

In recent years, capacitive flexible pressure sensors have been widely studied in electronic skin and wearable devices. The traditional capacitive pressure sensor has a higher production cost due to micro-nano machining technology such as lithography. This paper presents a flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor based on a PDMS/CNT composite electrode, simple, transparent, flexible, and arrays without lithography. The sensitivity of the device has been tested to 0.0018 kpa-1 with a detection range of 0-30 kPa. The sensor is capable of rapidly detecting different pressures and remains stable after 100 load-unload tests. © 2021, CC BY.

Preparation of Nickel Cobalt Hydroxide with Oxygen Vacancies by Intercalation of Oxidizing Anions as a High-Performance Electrode for Supercapacitors

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are classified as a type of two-dimensional lamellar intercalation materials, which are ideal candidates for advanced supercapacitor applications. However, their limited electrical conductivity hinders their application and advancement. In this paper, a set of NiCoLDH-X materials with HPO42-, SO42-, ClO3-, BrO3-, and IO3- as intercalation anions were successfully prepared, and the interlayer distance was augmented from 0.782 nm to 0.798 nm, which facilitates a higher ionic transfer rate and enhances the number of electrochemically active sites, ultimately leading to enhance the materials’ electrochemical efficiency. The DFT calculations for NiCoLDH-ClO3- have also confirmed this conclusion. At the same time, it is observed that the oxidising properties of the three oxygenates, ClO3-, BrO3- and IO3-, not only play the role of anionic intercalation, but also contribute to the generation of oxygen vacancies, which greatly improves the electrical conductivity of the materials. Among the five NiCoLDH-X materials, NiCoLDH-ClO3- demonstrated superior electrochemical energy storage capabilities, achieving a peak specific capacity of 229.1 mAh g-1 at 1 Ag-1. In addition, the assembled hybrid supercapacitor device achieves a high specific energy density of 15.06 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 1.91 kW kg-1. Research, both experimental and theoretical, has demonstrated that the anionic intercalation and oxygen vacancy synergistic strategy contributed significantly to enhancing the electrochemical performance of NiCoLDH. This approach offers fresh perspectives on the active components of supercapacitors (SCs) and will aid in the design of cutting-edge energy storage systems for the upcoming generation. © 2024, The Authors. Nowadays, intelligent vehicles have be used for transporting jobs in many manufacturing plants; thus, routing vehicles properly is very important for processing jobs. This paper studied a job shop scheduling problem considering intelligent vehicle transport. The problem is difficult to be handled because it needs to optimize the route of a vehicle and the processing sequences of jobs on machines simultaneously. To address this problem, a multi-attribute directed graph is proposed, in which a determined vehicle path associated with the attributes of job and machine is defined as a node and an undetermined vehicle path is defined as an arc; thereby, a mixed integer linear programming model is established. Numerical experiments show the effectiveness of the proposed model.

This paper reviews the 1st LFNAT challenge on light field depth estimation, which aims at predicting disparity information of central view image in a light field (i.e., pixel offset between central view image and adjacent view image). Compared to multi-view stereo matching, light field depth estimation emphasizes efficient utilization of the 2D angular information from multiple regularly varying views. This challenge specifies UrbanLF [20] light field dataset as the sole data source. There are two phases in total: submission phase and final evaluation phase, in which 75 registered participants successfully submit their predicted results in the first phase and 7 eligible teams compete in the second phase. The performance of all submissions is carefully reviewed and shown in this paper as a new standard for the current state-of-the-art in light field depth estimation. Moreover, the implementation details of these methods are also provided to stimulate related advanced research. © 2023 IEEE.

Fully Distributed Event-Triggered Cooperative Output Regulation for Switched Multi-Agent Systems with Combined Switching Mechanism

The cooperative output regulation of switched heterogenous multi-agent systems under aperiodic triggering and combined switching tactics is studied in this article. Since the global information of Laplacian matrix is not available in design, the fully distributed event-triggered protocol including integral-type term is implemented under directed topology that contain a spanning tree. Based on the relative estimator state between neighbors at triggering instants, the time-varying coupled weight of each agent is used to compensate the global information via designing the adaptive laws. Meanwhile, the integral-type term in event-triggering condition can further enlarge the inter-event times and avoid Zeno behaviour. To reduce the switching frequency, the combined switching rules constituted by the dwell-time and agent-dependent switching strategies are then established based on time-varying multiple Lyapunov functions. Further, the cooperative output regulation performance for switched multi-agent systems is achieved through the the joint action of the combined switching mechanism and control input. Finally, an example clearly verifies the effectiveness of results. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the ore flotation process, the grade of copper concentrate determines the quality of the final product. Nevertheless, in the actual production, the measurement of this parameter takes a long time, making it difficult to measure in real time online. In this paper, a soft sensor method based on nonnegative garrote (NNG) and least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) is proposed. This paper uses the actual production data provided by the DCS system to predict and model this variable. The simulation results show that the researched soft-sensing method can accurately predict the change of copper concentrate grade, and can achieve real-time estimation during actual production process. In addition, the accuracy of the proposed algorithm is obviously superior to other soft-sensing methods.

Reduced Network Cumulative Constraint Violation for Distributed Bandit Convex Optimization under Slater’s Condition

This paper studies the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. To calculate network cumulative constraint violation, existing distributed bandit online algorithms solving this problem directly use the clipped constraint function to replace its original constraint function. However, the use of the clipping operation renders Slater’s condition (i.e, there exists a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints at all iterations) ineffective to achieve reduced network cumulative constraint violation. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new distributed bandit online primal–dual algorithm. If local loss functions are convex, we show that the proposed algorithm establishes an O(T max{c,1−c})network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the total number of iterations and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds, the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). In addition, if local loss functions are strongly convex, for the case where strongly convex parameters are unknown, the network regret bound is reduced to O(T1−c), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is O(T1−c/2) and O(T1−c) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. For the case where strongly convex parameters are known, the network regret bound is further reduced to O)(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is among the first to establish reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) bandit convex optimization with time-varying constraints under Slater’s condition. Blind source separation under an underdetermined reverberation environment is a very challenging issue. The classical method is based on the expectation maximization algorithm. However, it is limited to high reverberation environments, resulting in bad or even invalid separation performance. To eliminate this restriction, a room impulse response reshaping-based expectation maximization method is designed to solve the problem of blind signal separation in an underdetermined reverberant environment. Firstly, a room impulse response reshaping technology is designed to eliminate the influence of audible echo on the reverberant environment, improving the quality of the received signals. Then, a new mathematical model of time-frequency mixing signals is established to reduce the approximation error of model transformation caused by high reverberation. Furthermore, an improved expectation maximization method is proposed for real-time update learning rules of model parameters, and then the sources are separated using the estimators provided by the improved expectation maximization method. Experimental results based on source separation of speech and music mixtures demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves better separation performance while maintaining much better robustness than popular expectation maximization methods. © 2024, The Authors.
