This paper studies the feedback optimization problem for nonlinear systems. In particular, we assume that the controlled plant admits a global asymptotic stable equilibrium corresponding to each fixed reference input and consider a modified gradient-flow optimizer augmented with a nonlinear perturbation function. With the output map of the controlled plant satisfying a linear growth condition, this paper proves the existence of a perturbation function such that the resulting feedback optimization system is globally asymptotically stable at the desired equilibrium. The proof is based on the seamless integration of tools from the singular perturbation theory, input-to-state stability (ISS), and the nonlinear small-gain theorem. The possibility of extending the proposed approach to other optimizers is also discussed. Three numerical examples are employed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, a model-free data-driven prescribedtime-performance (DDPTP) algorithm is developed for the underactuated autonomous surface vehicle (ASV). By defining a leader to provide the dynamic reference signal, the proposed DDPTP algorithm can achieve high-precision target tracking tasks while ensuring collision avoidance and connectivity between the leader and follower. A prescribed-time-performance function (PTPF) is designed for the ASV, featuring an adaptive shape and customizable convergence time. By using both real-time and historical data, a data-driven neural predictor (DDNP) is developed to estimate system uncertainties including unmodeled dynamics, unknown environmental disturbances and unknown input gains. An adaptive control law is employed based on the knowledge obtained from the DDNP, without relying on prior information about the motion model parameters. A switching dynamic event-triggered mechanism (SDETM) is introduced, which can switch between fixed-threshold triggering mechanism and dynamic event-triggered mechanism (DETM). Through this SDETM, not only are communication resources conserved, but frequent updates of the control signal are also mitigated. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is validated through verification simulations. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Train timetable rescheduling (TTR) aims to promptly restore the original operation of trains after unexpected disturbances or disruptions. Currently, this work is still done manually by train dispatchers, which is challenging to maintain performance under various problem instances. To mitigate this issue, this study proposes a reinforcement learning-based approach to TTR, which makes the following contributions compared to existing work. First, we design a simple directed graph to represent the TTR problem, enabling the automatic extraction of informative states through graph neural networks. Second, we reformulate the construction process of TTR’s solution, not only decoupling the decision model from the problem size but also ensuring the generated scheme’s feasibility. Third, we design a learning curriculum for our model to handle the scenarios with different levels of delay. Finally, a simple local search method is proposed to assist the learned decision model, which can significantly improve solution quality with little additional computation cost, further enhancing the practical value of our method. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. The learned decision model can achieve better performance for various problems with varying degrees of train delay and different scales when compared to handcrafted rules and state-of-the-art solvers. In this work, we establish a Bovine Serum Albumin(BSA) concentration measurement model based on a cascaded Vernier sensing structure combined with ensemble learning algorithm, which combines adaptive feature selection based on random forest (RF), anomaly diagnosis by kernel-ridge regression (KRR), and the lasso regression algorithm (LASSO) to achieve BSA concentration detection with high-sensitivity, large-range and high-accuracy. The refractive index measurement sensitivity can reach 11951.24 nm/RIU, with good repeatability and stability (0.22 nm). The sensitivity of BSA measurement is 2.03 nm (mg/ml). In the detection range of 0~122 mg/ml, its average absolute percentage error is 2.05%, Compared with traditional wavelength demodulation algorithm, its measurement accuracy has been improved 9.29%, and more importantly, its detection range has been expanded by 8 times (16 mg/ml). The method achieves the intelligent detection of BSA concentration. It provides a new intelligent demodulation approach for fiber optic sensing demodulation methods. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Reliable interaction force sensing between an exoskeleton and the human body is crucial for personalized support and efficient control. Poor donning and disturbances during movement lead to lower force measurement quality and thus to unfavorable use. In this work, we present an active smart human-robot interface by utilizing compliant actuator-sensor units (CASUs) that can be worn over clothing. These units combine capacitive force sensing and actuation using Shape-Memory Alloy (SMA) to actively compensate disturbances and improve force measurement by tightening the interface and reestablishing optimal contact. We present a pilot user study with five subjects, investigating the performance of an exoskele-ton interface featuring three integrated CASUs to compensate for non-ideal donning configurations and displacements during daily activities of walking, sitting down, and climbing the stairs. The results for a passive interface show a decrease in holding forces and force signal quality during activities. Our active interface, on the other hand, effectively compensates for disturbances, restoring high signal quality by the mean of peak-to-peak value up to 300% which leads to more distinct signals.

In this work, Ti3C2Tx/MoS2 particles with sandwich-like hierarchical structure are incorporated into the Ni-P coating by the simple electrodeposition. The addition of Ti3C2Tx/MoS2 particles can make the coating surface with much nodositas and layered "cauliflower" structure possessing the wettability of hydrophobicity. Then, the corrosion resistance increases much by the incorporation of Ti3C2Tx/MoS2 particles and the resistance of Ni-P-Ti3C2Tx/MoS2 composite coating first decreases and then increases with the prolonging immersion time. The corrosion mechanism of the Ni-P-Ti3C2Tx/MoS2 composite coating is analyzed and the role of Ti3C2Tx/MoS2 particles in Ni-P coating is discussed. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This article studies a leader-following formation control problem, in which the agent model is governed by continuous-time nonlinear differential equations. We are interested in designing a distributed control algorithm which is capable of handling the strong nonlinearities induced by the unmanned aerial vehicle model. Our primary objective is to investigate the convergence of the corresponding closed-loop system, and to understand how the nonlinear dynamics and the network topologies may impose intrinsic barriers on formation control. The results show that an exponential convergence is guaranteed under the proposed algorithm via the composite Laplacian quadratics function as long as the network topology has a directed spanning tree. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Optimizing the curvature shape of shoe last is an important research content and a promising direction in current shoe-last design. The emergence of plantar pressure imaging method provided a new technical mean for shoe-last design. The point-cloud dataset was acquired from the plantar pressure experiments which may be used for generating comfort shoe-last curvature, and the key zones on last curvature may be classified and has potential benefit to the designers to produce comfort shoe. In this paper ensemble learning technologies are applied for classifying those points through the proposed weights-updated algorithms. The proposed weights-updated algorithm with boosting operation performed high effectiveness by comparing to k-NN, random forest (RF) and Bayers (NB) in classification accuracy. The proposed boosting based ensemble learning method will be potential applied in interactive design of industry and be beneficial to produce comfort shoes.
