The use of simulation environments is becoming more significant in the development of autonomous cars, as it allows for the simulation of high-risk situations while also being less expensive. In this paper, we presented a framework that allows the creation of an autonomous vehicle in the AirSim simulation environment and then transporting the simulated movements to the TurtleBot. To maintain the car in the correct direction, computer vision techniques such as object detection and lane detection were assumed. The vehicle's speed and steering are both determined by Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers. A virtual personal assistant was developed employing natural language processing to allow the user to interact with the environment, providing movement instructions related to the vehicle's direction. Additionally, the conversion of the simulator movements for a robot was implemented to test the proposed system in a practical experiment. A comparison between the real position of the robot and the position of the vehicle in the simulated environment was considered in this study to evaluate the performance of the algorithms.

This paper deals with the observer design of nonlinear tubular chemical reactor models. The analysis is performed on a linearized version of the model around a steady-state profile, in which some coefficients are a function of the spatial variable. The study starts from a general model of chemical tubular reactors that will serve as a benchmark model for the formulation in the infinite dimensional Hilbert state space. The optimal output injection operator associated to the proposed observer is computed via the solution of the infinite-dimensional Riccati equation in the space variable. The performance of the observer is illustrated through numerical experiments of an industrial pulp bleaching tubular reactor model.

This paper is concerned with the observer design for one-dimensional class of nonisothermal tubular reactors considering in-domain pointwise measurements of temperature over the entire spatial domain. A Lyapunov-based design method is derived for the PDE system providing sufficient conditions, in the form of standard linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), for the exponential convergence of the estimation error with a given decay rate. The approach is applied and tested with a representative case of a tubular reactor with non-monotonic kinetics satisfying the sufficient solvability conditions. Simulation results support the effectiveness of the suggested design.

Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) impose known physical laws into the learning of deep neural networks, making sure they respect the physics of the process while decreasing the demand of labeled data. For systems represented by Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs), the conventional PINN has a continuous time input variable and outputs the solution of the corresponding ODE. In their original form, PINNs do not allow control inputs, neither can they simulate for variable long-range intervals without serious degradation in their predictions. In this context, this work presents a new framework called Physics-Informed Neural Nets for Control (PINC), which proposes a novel PINN-based architecture that is amenable to control problems and able to simulate for longer-range time horizons that are not fixed beforehand, making it a very flexible framework when compared to traditional PINNs. Furthermore, this long-range time simulation of differential equations is faster than numerical methods since it relies only on signal propagation through the network, making it less computationally costly and, thus, a better alternative for simulation of models in Model Predictive Control. This paper addresses the matter of active and reactive power sharing among distributed inverters in low-voltage microgrids, particularly highlighting the peculiarities of two strategies of coordinated control based on a master/slave architecture, namely Power-and Current-Based Control, in comparison to the classic droop control approach. It is demonstrated that the Power-and Current-Based Control strategies present distinct operational features in relation to classic droop control, mostly concerning how active and reactive power are shared among inverters. Additionally, it is shown how the strategies differ in steady-state operation and response time while comparing to classic droop-based methods. Discussions are presented based on simulation results using Matlab/Simulink, comprising two distributed inverters in a low-voltage microgrid and considering different operational scenarios, such as load changes, existence of linear and nonlinear loads, as well as line impedance variations. Experimental results are presented to validate the expected behavior of one of the strategies. © 2020 IEEE.

Experimental Analyses of the Combustion Instability Parameters in an Ammonia/Methane Fuelled Low Eddy Premix Burner for Gas Turbine Power Generation

The main factor that directs scientists to work on alternative energy sources is the environmental damage caused by the waste gases generated by the use of fossil fuels. Since ammonia is a carbonless substance and contains hydrogen atoms per unit volume, it can be used as an alternative fuel. In this study, experimental analyzes were carried out to examine the combustion instability properties of methane-ammonia mixed fuels for a low eddy and premix burner. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of ammonia addition on combustion instability with different compelling acoustic frequencies, dynamic pressure amplitude and light emission intensity. In addition, the effects of ammonia addition to methane fuel gas on temperature and emissions were also investigated. Pure methane and three different methane-ammonia mixtures (by volume 100% CH4, 90% CH 4 - 10 NH3, 80% CH4 - 20% NH3 and 70% CH4-30 NH3) as fuel at 0.7 equivalents and with three different acoustics have been used for analyzes. The burner power was determined as 5 kW and the excitation frequencies of the combustion chamber were determined as 95, 160 and 300 Hz. In this study, as the ammonia addition increased, there was an increase in the flame instability values up to 30% NH3, especially at the 95 Hz frequency, where the highest distortion effect occurred. It was observed that there was no significant change in the combustion performance with the addition of ammonia to methane fuel. The predicted NOX emission levels were found to increase significantly due to nitrogen bound to ammonia. However, it is seen that the NOx emission levels in the exhaust measurements are not very high (Maximum 560 ppm). Therefore, it can be concluded that ammonia supplemented methane fuels have significant potential as an alternative fuel. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Global energy consumption increases year after year, causing the depletion of non-renewable sources. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global demand for electrical energy is expected to increase by 3.3% in 2024. Therefore, developing new renewable sources is urgent, including new devices for energy storage and conversion, particularly those governed by electrochemical reactions. Water splitting is a clean and sustainable technology capable of facing this issue by producing oxygen and hydrogen from water and electricity. However, a problem related to this technology is the slow kinetics, making it necessary to develop new electrocatalysts with high electrochemical performance. To meet this requirement, this work deals with for the first time a high entropy oxide with rock-salt structure synthesized by a green solgel synthesis using red seaweed (Rhodophyta) as polymerizing agent. Solgel synthesis allows the large-scale production of nanomaterials with high uniformity and dispersion of the chemical elements involved. The literature, which discussed the production of these oxides, reveals that agents harmful to the environment are applied during the synthesis steps, including sodium hydroxide, acetic acid, hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide, urea, and ammonia. The composition of the high entropy oxide is (Mg0.2 Ni0.2 Co0.2 Cu0.2 Zn0.2 )O, it displays a low overpotential (336 mV vs. RHE at 10 mA cm-2 ), Tafel slope of 68 mV dec-1 , and excellent durability. The electrochemical performance of the high entropy oxide prepared in this work is superior to other electrocatalysts of the same class that were produced using transition metal-based precursors. © 2024, The Authors. This paper addresses the control design of a current mode control for a three-phase voltage source converter. A variant of the Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) scheme is proposed for comparison with the classical inner control approach. The ADRC method has a straightforward design procedure and has well-known abilities for disturbance rejection and robustness to parametric uncertainties of the system. Theoretical studies are presented and simulation results are discussed by using EMTP-RV environment considering the system Synchronous Reference Frame Control, whose modeling was extracted from the analysis performed in a classical refer-ence. © 2021 IEEE.

Generative Diffusion Models (GDMs) have emerged as a transformative force in the realm of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), demonstrating their versatility and efficacy across various applications. The ability to model complex data distributions and generate high-quality samples has made GDMs particularly effective in tasks such as image generation and reinforcement learning. Furthermore, their iterative nature, which involves a series of noise addition and denoising steps, is a powerful and unique approach to learning and generating data. This paper serves as a comprehensive tutorial on applying GDMs in network optimization tasks. We delve into the strengths of GDMs, emphasizing their wide applicability across various domains, such as vision, text, and audio generation. We detail how GDMs can be effectively harnessed to solve complex optimization problems inherent in networks. The paper first provides a basic background of GDMs and their applications in network optimization. This is followed by a series of case studies, showcasing the integration of GDMs with Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL), incentive mechanism design, Semantic Communications (SemCom), Internet of Vehicles (IoV) networks, etc. These case studies underscore the practicality and efficacy of GDMs in real-world scenarios, offering insights into network design. We conclude with a discussion on potential future directions for GDM research and applications, providing major insights into how they can continue to shape the future of network optimization. © 2023, CC BY.
