Temperature and strain distribution during friction stir welding of AA6061 and AA5052 aluminum alloy using deform 3D

This study investigated the effect of heat generation during friction stir welding (FSW) on dissimilar aluminium alloy plates AA6061 and AA5052 using process variables such as tool rotational speed, feed rate and temperature distribution. Temperature distributions on the workpiece were recorded at advancing side and receding side during welding by using thermocouples and revealed that temperatures on the advancing side are greater than those on the receding side. The FSW process was simulated at the tool speed of 1000, 1200 and 1400 rpm, feed rate of 20, 40, 60 mm/min. A Taguchi OA has been used for designed the experiments. The findings of the micro hardness test at the welded zone analysed using Vickers's tester. Microstructure analysis of AA6061 identical welds reveals that grains are slightly reduced at HAZ, while analysis of AA5052 and AA6061 dissimilar welds reveals that grain are significantly enlarged at weldment than base metal. It also found that, the tool speed increases while maintaining a steady feed rate, increased the amount of heat generated in weld zones. On the other hand, increasing feed rate while maintaining constant tool rotational speeds results in a decrease in the amount of heat created in weld zones. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) revealed, the optimal condition of temperature distribution and heat generation is T3F1 (i.e., tool speed of 1400 rpm and feed rate of 20 mm/min). A model of the workpiece and tool was developed using Deform-3D Software for friction stir welding, and thermal analysis was performed to analyse the temperature distribution. © 2021

This work is to bring mobile-based sign language recognition system into real time. Selfie sign videos are captured with smartphone front camera. Morphological gradients along with Sobel edge operators are used to extract hand contour from each sign video frame. Discrete cosine transform (DCT) of hand contour is optimized by principle component analysis (PCA) to reduce the execution time. The four statistical features such as mean, skewness, standard deviation, and kurtosis are calculated for the optimized hand contour DCT. The feature vector formed with these four statistical features is used for sign classification using artificial neural networks (ANN) classifier. The expanding field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) has introduced a variety of flight operating conditions and thus performance requirements. As a method to improve performance in the propulsion systems of UAVs, two topics of interest are emphasized in this: the potential improvements offered by ducted propellers and the relatively uninvestigated performance of small-scale rotors at nonzero angle of attack. The growing capabilities of UAVs equipped with propellers imply that rotor disks operate at a much higher angle of attack than in the case of helicopters or propeller-powered airplanes. In the current chapter, the aerodynamic performance of a small ducted propeller within axial flow condition is studied using Ansys Fluent, and its performance in terms of thrust force and moment requires dyscalculia. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

There is no established metric for measuring urban smartness at this time. Various writers use various metrics to assess smart city transportation systems. The assessment indicators for the transport system that were offered in the scholarly works were reviewed, and the most relevant and impactful indicators were chosen. A hierarchical assessment model for smart city transport systems is developed in this paper. There are five categories, or "factors,"that the indications fall into. Several indicators are assigned to each of the categories. This study used the hybrid MCDM (multi-criteria decision-making) method to evaluate urban transport systems and identify which of the given characteristics were most important. Top Priority Sorting based on Ideal Solution Similarity (TOPSIS), COPRAS, and Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) were the multi-criteria assessment methods in use. The importance of the components and indicators was determined using an analytical hierarchy process (AHP), rankings (prioritization), and direct evaluation (experts evaluate each criterion as a percentage;total assessments of all criteria equal 100%). There were two phases to the evaluation and comparison of mobility systems: first, smart mobility systems were evaluated comprehensively according to the integrated importance of the indicators;and second, multi-criteria evaluations were conducted according to the indicators of every factor separately. Based on the amount of intelligence, a top city is determined and rated. Building a hierarchical model for evaluating smart transportation systems is the focus of this paper. © 2024 IEEE.

Bovine respiratory diseases (BRD) represent a substantial challenge to the worldwide cattle industry, resulting in considerable economic losses and diminished animal well-being. Timely detection of BRD is imperative for prompt intervention and effective disease control. This chapter delves into the utilization of deep learning methodologies to achieve early detection of respiratory ailments in cattle. Through a thorough examination of the available techniques, we propose an innovative deep-learning framework tailored for this purpose. Furthermore, we offer experimental findings that underscore the efficiency of our proposed system. This work presents and analyzes the two/eight-port MIMO antenna operating in dual-band applications. Band 1 is used for LTE B41, whereas band 2 is for WLAN, downlink defense, Wi-Fi 6E (n96), and C-band. The two-port MIMO antenna is built around diamond-shaped with partially ground-plane on jeans substrate. primarily the antennas are placed side-by-side, to enhance to isolation more than 22 dB a T and I-shaped slots are being carved into the ground. The two-port MIMO antenna's total dimensions are 20 × 34.5 × 1.5 mm3. The first band impedance bandwidth is 2.41–2.97 GHz (20.81%), while the second band impedance bandwidth is 4.22–8.33 GHz (65.5%). The minimum and maximum isolation of Band 1 and Band 2 are 20 dB, more than 23 dB, respectively. The recommended dual-band eight-port MIIMO antenna is made up of four two-port MIMO antennas that are positioned orthogonally to create better isolation (>22 dB) between ports. For entire operating bands, the radiation efficiency is more than 65% and the peak gain of the proposed eight-port antenna is 3.5 dB at 8 GHz. The volume of the eight-port MIMO antenna is 4140 mm3. In order to protect the aerospace structures against electromagneticinterference (EMI) caused by lightning strikes, metallic meshes or foils are currently being used. But the additional weight of metallic meshes cause counterbalance of weight saving imparted by the composite materials. In this context, Al6061 hybrid metal matrix composite specimens with different proportions of SiC, Al2O3 and fly ash particulates as reinforcement materials have been prepared and tested their characteristics suitability to lightning strike protection (LSP). As there is a conflicting nature among these properties a multi-criteria decision model using AHP, Entropy and TOPSIS techniques with a view to select appropriate specimen to meet the objective. The results of the proposed decision model are compared with that of the other methods VIKOR and PROMETHEE so as to validate the results. The same weightages for the properties are used in all the three methods. The proposed decision model is the robust one for ranking of the materials. © 2021

This research explores the potential of machine learning methods to use in the welding sector. Welding operations encounter several challenges that might use machine learning approaches. Welding processes have been found to benefit greatly from the use of machine learning algorithms, which increase both productivity and quality. Industrial robots powered by artificial intelligence may assist in addressing many difficult problems in the manufacturing industry. Many welding procedures depend on human knowledge to choose optimal settings, making them less efficient and more prone to human mistakes. To lessen this reliance, neural networks educate robots and autonomous systems to provide consistent weld quality and increased efficiency. Weld quality is mainly determined by visual examination. As a result, machine learning is also used to provide a visual representation of the welding process. In two dimensions, 12 machine learning pipelines are built: settings for feature engineering and ML techniques. Four feature settings and three machine learning methods were considered. Using data from two active industrial production lines containing 25 welding machines, a machine-learning pipeline was tested. These approaches may also be used to analyze the components using regression analysis to determine which factors relate to certain health concerns. © 2023 IEEE.
