A new vacuum-assisted low-pressure investment casting process for K446 alloy

Non-metallic inclusions and zyglo indications frequently occur in the superalloy castings produced through the traditional vacuum gravity investment casting process,particularly in components with thin-walled and complex structural *** vacuum-assisted low-pressure casting(VLC),a type of counter-gravity casting(CGC)method,has been developed to minimize non-metallic inclusions and zyglo indications in superalloy *** frames for gas turbines made from K446 alloy were produced semi-continuously using the VLC process and subsequently evaluated through tensile testing,chemical composition analysis,X-ray diffraction,and zyglo penetrant *** results indicate a roughly 10%improvement in tensile strength at 800℃ compared to gravity ***,no significant changes are observed in the chemical composition of the alloys from the beginning to the end of a casting campaign,indicating that the developed VLC process is viable for the engineering-scale production of superalloy *** to traditional vacuum gravity casting(GC)method,the application of VLC can reduce the numbers of non-metallic inclusions and Zyglo indications in the castings by over 80%.At the same time,it significantly shortens the production time by 3 to 5 days.

In order to better analyze the characteristics of particle distribution and its influencing factors in the ionized space during the process of coaxial dielectric barrier discharge,a self-designed two-dimensional axisymmetric structure exciter was used to carry out optical diagnosis,with the electron temperature calculated through Gaussian fitting.A plasma model was applied to conduct research on the discharge process through numerical simulation,with the changes in electron density and electron temperature were analyzed by using different discharge *** research results show that with an increase in discharge voltage,pressure inside the reactor and relative permittivity,the discharge process is *** addition,a rise in current density leads to an increase in the number of charged particles on the surface of the medium during the discharge process,while a rise in discharge intensity causes an increase in the electron *** temperature decreases due to the increased loss of collision energy between *** results were confirmed by comparing experimental data with simulation results.

Substantial NO_(x) emission mitigation is crucial for the synergistic reduction of particulate matter and ozone(O_(3))pollution in *** traditional air quality model does not consider heterogeneous HONO chemistry,leading to uncertainties in estimating the benefits of NO_(x) *** studies have shown that the parameterization of heterogeneous HONO formation increases both the simulated value of sulfate–nitrate–ammonium(SNA)and that of O_(3),thus adding the heterogeneous reactions of HONO into air quality models inevitably leads to changes in the estimated benefits of NO_(x) *** we investigated the changes in SNA and O_(3)concentrations from NO_(x) emission reduction before and after adding heterogeneous HONO reactions in the Community Multi-Scale Air Quality(CMAQ)*** heterogeneous HONO reactions in the simulation improved the benefits of NO_(x) reduction in terms of SNA control in *** 80%NO_(x) reduction,the reduction in SNA increased from 36.9%without considering heterogeneous HONO reactions to 42.8%with heterogeneous HONO *** reduction in the maximum daily 8h average(MDA8)O_(3)in summer caused by NO_(x) reduction increased slightly from 4.7%to 5.2%after adding heterogeneous HONO *** results in this study highlight the enhanced effectiveness of NO_(x) controls for the reduction of SNA and O_(3)after considering heterogeneous HONO formation in a complex chemical ambient,demonstrating the importance of NO_(x) controls in reducing PM2.5 and O_(3)pollution in China.

At present, most of the existing methods combine the data from different views mechanically to obtain the latent subspace with complementary information, which not only fails to make full use of the data information from specific perspectives but also brings redundancy. Therefore, we propose a novel multi-view subspace clustering method. It utilizes cycle projection to obtain a subspace construction model. At the same time, by learning the global structure and local manifold structure of this subspace while assigning learnable weights to different views, the consensus information among views and specific information from different views are captured according to the importance of different views. In this way, our method effectively reduces the original noise and redundancy, and further carries out the improvement of complementarity and consistency among views. The proposed method is optimized by using the Augmented Lagrangian Multiplier with Alternating Direction Minimization (ALM- ADM) algorithm. Experiment results on benchmark datasets confirm the effectiveness of our method. © 2024 IEEE.

To enhance the convergence capability of grey wolf optimizer (GWO), this research investigates an evolved GWO using weighted-leader strategy (WLS), namely WLSGWO. The key issue of WLS is realizing the adaptive adjustment of position weighting according to the control parameters, thus well overcoming the drawback of premature convergence in the basic GWO. The newly developed method’s performance is assessed through experiments conducted on a standardized test suite. Additionally, comparisons are made by utilizing GWO alongside other advanced optimization techniques. The results of non-parametric studies validate the outperformance of the WLSGWO, thus proving the efficiency of the proposed strategy. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Effect of initial orientation on microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ31 Mg alloy sheets via accumulated extrusion bonding

In this study, effects of initial orientation on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of AZ31 Mg alloy sheets via accumulated extrusion bonding(AEB) was systematically studied. The samples with RD and TD parallel to extrusion direction(ED) were labeled as RED and TED, respectively. RD and TD pieces alternately stacked was named as RTED. The results revealed that under three-dimensional compressive stress, {10-12} tensile twinning dominated the first stage deformation in container. As the plunger continuous press down, dynamic recrystallization(DRX) occurred, and the newly fine DRXed grains along original and twin grain boundaries gradually consumed the matrix and twin grains. The microstructure was completely transformed into recrystallized grain structure at sizing band with an average grain size of ～0.9 μm in TED sample, smaller than that of RED *** the alloys extruded out of the die, DRXed grains significantly grew to ～4.5 μm and 3.5 μm for RED and TED samples, respectively. A laminated microstructure was obtained with average grain sizes of～4.4 μm in RD layers and 3.5 μm in TD layers for RTED sample. The AEB processed samples exhibited an ED-tilt double-peak basal texture with similar texture intensity. The tensile tests results indicated that attributed to the combined effect of grain refinement and texture evolution, the yield strength and fracture elongation of RED and TED samples was significantly improved. The heterogeneous microstructure in RTED sample induced an extra work hardening(HDI-work hardening) in tensile deformation and resulted in a further improved elongation of 32.0%.

Effect of suction leading edge vortex generator on characteristics of compressor cascade

A compressor linear cascade was studied，and vortex generators were arranged near the suction leading edge of the end wall to improve the stator aerodynamic characteristic and control the corner separation. The effects of the vortex generators with different heights，lengths，and pitch positions on the corner separation flow and aerodynamic characteristics were studied by numerical simulation. The results showed that the suction leading edge vortex generator can generate the induced vortex near the end wall of the passage inlet， which inhibited the accumulation of low-energy fluids in the corner region，shifted the separation starting point backward，and narrowed the corner region along the pitch direction，thereby reducing the flow loss. The vortex generator should be arranged at the starting position of the corner separation. The control effect of the corner separation first increased and then decreased with the increase of the height of the vortex generator. With the increase of the chord of the vortex generator，it gradually decreased. As the arrangement position was far away from the suction，it first increased and then decreased. When the vortex generator was arranged at the boundary between the end wall recirculation region and the mainstream region，the chord was equal to 25% of the blade chord，and the height was equal to 2% of the blade height，the flow loss can be reduced by 10.3%. © 2025 Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (BUAA).
