EDTA fouling in dead-end ultrafiltration of low level radioactive wastewater

EDTA is widely used as a detergent, and finally enters into wastewater. The influence of EDTA on ultrafiltration of low level radioactive wastewater (LLRW) was investigated under different operation conditions. As the main organic pollutant, EDTA led to unrecoverable membrane fouling and the normalized flux decreased from 100% to 85% depending on its concentration. The clogging caused by EDTA increased the surface roughness of the membrane, leading to the flux reduction. Both nuclide rejections and depositions on the membrane surfaces were enhanced with EDTA addition, due to the strong complexation of the nuclides with EDTA. However, Ag deposition on the membrane decreased slightly in the presence of EDTA, which may be caused by the stronger attraction of Ag to the unmodified membrane than that to the EDTA-modified one. Transmembrane pressure (TMP) and molecular weight cut off (MWCO) of membranes had negligible effects on membrane fouling, while the nuclide rejections by membrane and the depositions of nuclides on membrane both decreased significantly when the TMP increased to 0.2 MPa and MWCO increased from 5 kDa to 30 kDa. Based on these results, it clearly showed that EDTA even at a low concentration had strong effects on the performance of UF treating LLRW. Therefore, it is suggested for industrial application that pretreatments to reduce EDTA or alkaline/ultrasonic washing involved in UF process were necessary to reduce the nuclide depositions on the membrane surfaces and irradiation dose of membrane surface.

In continuous casting industry, scale cutting is used to control the current domestic company's adoption: "to touch the ball type", "friction roller number", "the camera imaging control type" and "the infrared switch control type" etc. Their cost and their accuracy are different. Inverter is the product of perfect combination of power electronic technology and computer technology. Inverter speed control precision is high, speed range is wide and energy saving effect is obvious, which is widely used in the motor system. Inverter changes the motor speed by changing the frequency. This paper proposed a cloud service platform, that targets wise transportation in order to carry out unified management and mining analysis of the huge number of the multivariate and heterogeneous dynamic transportation information, provides real-time transportation information, increases the utilization efficiency of transportation, promotes transportation management and service level of travel information, and provides decision support of transportation management by virtual reality as visual.

We propose a practical parametrization for the line shapes of near-threshold states compatible with all requirements of unitarity and analyticity. The coupled-channel system underlying the proposed parametrization includes bare poles and an arbitrary number of elastic and inelastic channels treated fully nonperturbatively. The resulting formulas are general enough to be used for a simultaneous analysis of the data in all available production and decay channels of the (system of) state(s) under consideration for a quite wide class of reactions. As an example, we fit the experimental data currently available for several decay channels for the charged Zb(′) states in the spectrum of bottomonia and find a good overall description of the data. We find the present data to be consistent with the Zb(10610) as a virtual state and with the Zb(10650) as a resonance, both residing very close to the BB¯* and B*B¯* threshold, respectively.

The principles and method of computational fluid dynamics were applied to numerical simulate the external flow field about the SUV model. The hybrid mesh of tetrahedral and triangular prismatic as well as the turbulence model of Realizable k-Ε was adopted to study the flow field of SUV of flat underground. Then the SUV of complex underground was simulated with the same mesh strategy and boundary condition. The aerodynamic drag coefficient of latter was bigger than former. That illuminated the complex underground has affect to aerodynamic performance of vehicle. The wind tunnel test validated the veracity of numerical simulation. Based on that, the underground cover board was appended;the aerodynamic drag coefficient was depressed. The velocity and pressure distribution and flow line were achieved. The conclusions provide theoretical reference for the further study of aerodynamic drag reduction of complex underground. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

A 3D Shenzhen city web platform based on WE-BVRGIS is presented. A 3D globe browser is employed to load all kinds of demanded data of the city, such as 3D building model data, residents information, real-time and historical traffic data. Using these data, the 3D analysis and visualization of the concerned city massive information are conducted in the platform. All the presented functions of the platform are extracted from the practical customer demand. The system design has considered some existing Geographic human-computer interaction (GeoHCI) research results.

Titanium alloy tube has been widely used in various industries due to its good corrosion resistance, small proportion and high intensity. In this research, TA2 Titanium Tube has been deeply processed under different rolling speeds and heat treatment. Through the experiments the following conclusions have been made: rolling speed has little effect on the TA2 tube properties;the tube with 485°C by 3min induction heat treatment after rolling could obtain 534MPa tensile strength, 406MPa yield strength and 30% elongation. As heat temperature increasing, the microstructure of the TA2 tube transfers from fiber to equiaxial structure;the surface stress of the tube is tensile stress and heat treatment can reduce the surface residual stress. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Radially polarized intense terahertz (THz) radiation behind a thin foil irradiated by ultrahigh-contrast ultrashort relativistic laser pulse is recorded by a single-shot THz time-domain spectroscopy system. As the thickness of the target is reduced from 30 to 2 µm, the duration of the THz emission increases from 5 to over 20 ps and the radiation energy increases dramatically, reaching ∼10.5mJ per pulse, corresponding to a laser-to-THz radiation energy conversion efficiency of 1.7%. The efficient THz emission can be attributed to reflection (deceleration and acceleration) of the laser-driven hot electrons by the target-rear sheath electric field. The experimental results are consistent with that of a simple model as well as particle-in-cell simulation.
