With the rapid social-economic development, anthropogenic activities affect global climate change and water quality of lake ecosystems. However, little is known about how nutrients respond to changes in social-economic and climate change over a long period. In this study, we used the long-term dataset (1987-2021) of Poyang Lake to perform a powerful interpretative modeling. During 1978~2021, the filtering trajectory method (FTM) suggested that Poyang Lake has experienced the nutrients increased first then decreased stages under the social-economic development and climate change. Additionally, the filtering trajectory of nutrients and drivers also supported the detection of the change point in the temporal dynamic. The structural equation modeling (SEM) of nutrients revealed that social-economic factors rather than climate change determined the long-term change of TN and TP. GDP, Urbanization (Ur), and P-fertilizer (Pfer) were the key drivers of TN;Urbanization, population, and sewerage treatment rate (STR) were the primary factors of TP. Through the generalized additive models (GAMs), we observed that GDP accounted for 86 % of the temporal variability in TN and 45.7 % in TP, exhibiting inverted U-shaped relationships with both TN and TP. Air temperature (AT), as a climatic factor only accounted for 44.6% and 14.8 % of TN and TP, respectively. Pfer explained 66.0% variations of TN, demonstrating the decline of Pfer application is suitable for controlling nonpoint pollution. In addition, STR explained 50.4% variations of TP with a peaked TP at STR threshold around 80%. Our findings highlight that Pfer and STR were essential indicators for nutrient management. This study provides an important understanding of how lake nutrients may respond to social dynamics and climate warming over a long period. Collaborative control strategies for water pollution and carbon reduction can contribute to mitigating future climate change. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Human factors play an important role in human- computer interaction systems such as nuclear power plants (NPPs). Especially for the human-computer interaction process in unknown scenarios, incorrect personnel actions will affect the operation of equipment and systems, and finally the achievement of safety goals of NPPs. This paper presents a design of an online operational task reliability analysis (OOTRA) system which provides early warnings to operations in a timely manner by monitoring the states of plant systems and equipment, and operator actions. For any wrong action of operators, the OOTRA system can online evaluate the impact of the wrong action on the operational task and the goals of NPPs.

The flexible HVDC transmission technology based on the modular multilevel converter (MMC) topology has a very broad application prospect in the process of large-scale renewable energy collection and transmission. This technology has become one of the best choices for long-distance offshore wind power farms to connect to the onshore power grid. In view of the special working conditions such as overvoltage in the fault state, this article proposes a controllable large-capacity self-recovery energy-dissipation device for the first time to improve the transient characteristics of the DC and AC power system. The proposed scheme has the advantages of no harmonic generation during operation, relatively simple control strategy and high current impact resistance. The electromagnetic transient simulation shows that the proposed scheme can effectively solve the overvoltage problem of DC in the offshore wind power flexible HVDC system, and improve the reliability of the HVDC system.

The one-dimensional yarn-based sweat-activated battery (y-SAB) has been considered a promising power source for textile electronics due to its high flexibility, stable output, and compatibility with conventional weaving/knitting techniques. However, its practical applications are hampered by its relatively low energy capacity, especially at higher current densities, and the loose binding of the fiber-based separating layer. Here, a core-sheath y-SAB fabricated using an electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofiber separator was developed through a conjugated electrospinning technique. This innovative y-SAB design not only achieves a reduced diameter with the tight covering of PAN nanofiber film but also demonstrates almost doubled energy capacity (28.5 mAh) compared to its counterpart with a cotton yarn separator (15.8 mAh) in artificial sweat. It also delivers higher capacity in harsh electrolytes like 1M NaCl and 1M KOH. The remarkable improvement can be attributed to the tight and dense wrapping of the PAN nanofibers around the zinc electrode, which inhibits localized corrosion of the zinc wire and prevents the contamination of the cathode surface by corrosion products such as zinc oxide and simónkolleite. The proposed y-SAB could tolerate 13,000 cycles of bending and 3200 cycles of twisting without significantly reducing its performance, allowing it to be woven into textiles for powering wearable electronic devices. This study introduces an innovative approach for fabricating high-efficacy yarn batteries designed for integration with machine weaving technologies and also provides some insights into the inhibition of localized zinc corrosion in SABs. © 2024, The Authors. Crystal structures and superconductivity of carbonaceous sulfur hydrides at pressures up to 300 GPa

To explore the crystal structure of the recently claimed room-temperature superconducting carbonaceous sulfur hydrides, we searched for ≈250000 structures over ≈800 stoichiometries at 300 GPa via advanced crystal structure searching and cluster expansion method. Only several metastable high-temperature superconductors were identified, whose structures can be classified into hydrogen-rich molecular crystals and low-level carbon-doped H3S-like structures by constructing the ternary phase diagram and simulating the electron-phonon interactions. The C–S–H molecular crystals are composed of CH4, SH6, and H2 molecules, where the superconductivity (with the highest superconducting critical temperature Tc is 156 K found in CSH48 at 300 GPa) is mainly contributed to by H2 units, implying their Tc values are unlikely to be higher than that of metallic molecular hydrogen (Tc of 242 K at 450 GPa). The highest Tc of low-level carbon-doped C–S–H compounds (up to 64 atoms in the primitive cell) at 300 GPa was estimated as 189 K for H3S0.917C0.083. Our results provide a comprehensive map between the crystal structure and superconductivity of carbonaceous sulfur hydride materials at high pressures.

Alkaline water electrolysis is one of the primary drivers of hydrogen energy development, and anion exchange membranes (AEMs) play a dual role in ensuring both conductivity and safety. However, traditional polymer AEMs have a wide pore size distribution and poor chemical stability, making it difficult to achieve a long-term balance between conductivity and safety of the water electrolysis system. Here, we select inorganic two-dimensional multilayer graphene oxide (GO) membranes as AEMs, using carboxylated wrinkled graphene (WG) and ethylenediamine (EDA) to create a cation-modified porous EDA-GO/WG (E-W/G) composite membrane with a 3 nm pore size. The enlarged channel size and enhanced hydrophilicity improve OH- permeability compared to the pristine GO membrane, while the strengthened hydration layer acts as a barrier to hydrophobic gases for O2/H2 separation. The results show that the prepared E-W/G membrane exhibits superior current density (600 mA cm-2) and gas impermeability (gas purity 99.99%) compared to the commercial Fumasep FAA-3-50 membrane (590 mA cm-2 and 99.81%, respectively). Furthermore, after continuous testing for 168 hours in high-temperature and alkaline environments, the E-W/G membrane maintained conductivity comparable to its initial state and showed enhanced gas impermeability. Our strategy provides new insights into the design of high-performance AEMs and is expected to contribute to the advancement of the hydrogen energy industry. © 2024, The Authors. Dft Study of Defective H-Bas: Effective Adsorption for Radioactive Gaseous Iodine

The adsorption behavior of iodine molecules on hexagonal boron arsenide (h-BAs) with and without defects has been systematically investigated using first-principles. The maximum adsorption energy of I2 on perfect h-BAs is -0.700 eV. However, in the presence of defects(vac-B and vac-As), the adsorption energy can be up to -5.007 eV. Forming I-As and I-B covalent bond with lengths of 2.764 and 2.189 Å, respectively, which is the typical bond length of the iodide. The substrate loses electrons of 0.215 e. I2 dissociates upon adsorption on vac-As, where iodine atom distances of up to 3.800 Å and breaking of the I-I bond. PDOS shows strong hybridization of B 2p and As 4p orbitals with I 5p orbital, there is clear orbital overlap in the range of -3.1 to -1.9 eV, with overlapping peaks at -2.5 and -2.1 eV. Iodine can effectively adsorb on h-BAs, especially in the presence of defects. This research is significant for developing promising iodine molecular adsorbents. © 2024, The Authors. Machine learning orbital-free density functional theory: taming quantum shell effects in deformed nuclei

Accurate description of deformed atomic nuclei by the orbital-free density functional theory has been a longstanding textbook challenge, due to the difficulty in accounting for the intricate quantum shell effects that are present in such systems. Orbital-free density functional theory is, in principle, capable of describing all effects of nuclear systems, as guaranteed by the Hohenberg-Kohn theorem. However, from a microscopic perspective, shell and deformation effects are believed to be intrinsically connected to single-orbital structures, posing a significant challenge for orbital-free approaches. Here, we develop a machine learning approach to the orbital-free density functional theory, which is capable of achieving a high level of accuracy in describing the ground-state properties and potential energy curves for both spherical 16O and deformed 20Ne nuclei. This is the inaugural instance where a fully orbital-free energy density functional has succeeded in taming the complex shell effects in deformed nuclei. It demonstrates that the orbital-free energy density functional, which is directly based on the Hohenberg-Kohn theorem, is not only a theoretical concept but also a practical one for nuclear systems. Topological dissipative Kerr soliton combs in a valley photonic crystal resonator

Topological phases have become an enabling role in exploiting new applications of nonlinear optics in recent years. Here we theoretically propose a valley photonic crystal resonator emulating topologically protected dissipative Kerr soliton combs. It is shown that topological resonator modes can be observed in the resonator. Moreover, we also simulate the dynamic evolution of the topological resonator with the injection of a continuous-wave pump laser. We find that the topological optical frequency combs evolve from Turing rolls to chaotic states, and eventually into single soliton states. More importantly, such dissipative Kerr soliton combs generated in the resonator are inborn topologically protected, showing robustness against sharp bends and structural disorders. Our design supporting topologically protected dissipative Kerr soliton combs could be implemented experimentally in on-chip nanofabricated photonic devices. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Metal-stuffed B−C compounds with sodalite clathrate structure have captured increasing attention due to their predicted exceptional superconductivity above liquid nitrogen temperature at ambient pressure. However, by neglecting the quantum lattice anharmonicity, the existing studies may result in an incomplete understanding of such a lightweight system. Here, using state-of-the-art ab initio methods incorporating quantum effects and machine learning potentials, we revisit the properties of a series of XYB6C6 clathrates where X and Y are metals. Our findings show that ionic quantum and anharmonic effects can harden the Eg and Eu vibrational modes, enabling the dynamical stability of 15 materials previously considered unstable in the harmonic approximation, including materials with previously unreported (XY)1+ state, which is demonstrated here to be crucial to reach high critical temperatures. Further calculations based on the isotropic Migdal-Eliashberg equation demonstrate that the Tc values for KRbB6C6 and RbB3C3 among these stabilized compounds are 87 and 98 K at 0 and 15 GPa, respectively, both being higher than Tc of 77 K of KPbB6C6 at the anharmonic level. These record-high Tc values, surpassing liquid nitrogen temperatures, emphasize the importance of anharmonic effects in stabilizing B–C clathrates with large electron-phonon coupling strength and advancing the search for high-Tc superconductivity at (near) ambient pressure. © 2025, CC BY.
