ATLAS has measured two-particle correlations as a function of the relative azimuthal angle, Δϕ, and pseudorapidity, Δη, in s=13 and 2.76 TeV pp collisions at the LHC using charged particles measured in the pseudorapidity interval |η|<2.5. The correlation functions evaluated in different intervals of measured charged-particle multiplicity show a multiplicity-dependent enhancement at Δϕ∼0 that extends over a wide range of Δη, which has b.en referred to as the “ridge.” Per-trigger-particle yields, Y(Δϕ), are measured over 2<|Δη|<5. For b.th collision energies, the Y(Δϕ) distrib.tion in all multiplicity intervals is found to b. consistent with a linear comb.nation of the per-trigger-particle yields measured in collisions with less than 20 reconstructed tracks, and a constant comb.natoric contrib.tion modulated b. cos(2Δϕ). The fitted Fourier coefficient, v2,2, exhib.ts factorization, suggesting that the ridge results from per-event cos(2ϕ) modulation of the single-particle distrib.tion with Fourier coefficients v2. The v2 values are presented as a function of multiplicity and transverse momentum. They are found to b. approximately constant as a function of multiplicity and to have a pT dependence similar to that measured in p+Pb.and Pb.Pb.collisions. The v2 values in the 13 and 2.76 TeV data are consistent within uncertainties. These results suggest that the ridge in pp collisions arises from the same or similar underlying physics as ob.erved in p+Pb.collisions, and that the dynamics responsib.e for the ridge has no strong s dependence.

In this paper, we propose a new approach to solve the maximal constraint satisfaction prob.ems (Max-CSP) using the continuous Hopfield network. This approach is divided into two steps: the first step involves modeling the maximal constraint satisfaction prob.em as 0-1 quadratic programming sub.ect to linear constraints (QP). The second step concerns applying the continuous Hopfield network (CHN) to solve the QP prob.em. Therefore, the generalized energy function associated to the CHN and an appropriate parameter-setting procedure ab.ut Max-CSP prob.ems are given in detail. Finally, the proposed algorithm and some computational experiments solving the Max-CSP are shown.

Distrib.tions of transverse momentum $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ and the related angular variab.e $$\phi ^*_\eta $$ of DrellΓÇôYan lepton pairs are measured in 20.3┬áfb.$$^{-1}$$ of protonΓÇôproton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=8$$ ┬áTeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Measurements in electron-pair and muon-pair final states are corrected for detector effects and comb.ned. Compared to previous measurements in protonΓÇôproton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=7$$ ┬áTeV, these new measurements b.nefit from a larger data sample and improved control of systematic uncertainties. Measurements are performed in b.ns of lepton-pair mass ab.ve, around and b.low the Z-b.son mass peak. The data are compared to predictions from perturb.tive and resummed QCD calculations. For values of $$\phi ^*_\eta < 1$$ the predictions from the Monte Carlo generator Resb.s are generally consistent with the data within the theoretical uncertainties. However, at larger values of $$\phi ^*_\eta $$ this is not the case. Monte Carlo generators b.sed on the parton-shower approach are unab.e to describ. the data over the full range of $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ while the fixed-order prediction of Dynnlo falls b.low the data at high values of $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ . Resb.s and the parton-shower Monte Carlo generators provide a much b.tter description of the evolution of the $$\phi ^*_\eta $$ and $$p_T^{\ell \ell }$$ distrib.tions as a function of lepton-pair mass and rapidity than the b.sic shape of the data.

This paper presents a study of and trib.son production using events from proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.2 fb. . The production cross-section is determined using a final state containing an electron, a muon, a photon, and neutrinos ( ). Upper limits on the production cross-section of the final state and the and final states containing an electron or a muon, two jets, a photon, and a neutrino ( or ) are also derived. The results are compared to the cross-sections predicted b. the Standard Model at next-to-leading order in the strong-coupling constant. In addition, upper limits on the production cross-sections are derived in a fiducial region optimised for a search for new physics b.yond the Standard Model. The results are interpreted in the context of anomalous quartic gauge couplings using an effective field theory. Confidence intervals at 95% confidence level are derived for the 14 coupling coefficients to which and production are sensitive.

When trying to identify the author of a b.ok, a paper, or a letter, the ob.ect is to detect a style that distinguishes one author from another. With recent developments in artificial intelligence, chat b.ts sometimes play the role of the text authors. The focus of this study is to investigate the change in chat b.t linguistic style over time and its effect on authorship attrib.tion. The study shows that chat b.ts did show a b.havioral drift in their style. Results from this study imply that any non-zero change in lingual style results in difficulty for our chat b.t identification process.

The ATLAS experiment has performed extensive searches for the electroweak production of charginos, neutralinos, and staus. This article summarizes and extends the search for electroweak supersymmetry with new analyses targeting scenarios not covered b. previously pub.ished searches. New searches use vector-b.son fusion production, initial-state radiation jets, and low-momentum lepton final states, as well as multivariate analysis techniques to improve the sensitivity to scenarios with small mass splittings and low-production cross sections. Results are b.sed on 20 fb.1 of proton-proton collision data at s=8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess b.yond Standard Model expectations is ob.erved. The new and existing searches are comb.ned and interpreted in terms of 95% confidence-level exclusion limits in simplified models, where a single production process and decay mode is assumed, as well as within phenomenological supersymmetric models.

The differential cross-section for pair production of top quarks with high transverse momentum is measured in 20.3 fb.1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV. The measurement is performed for tt¯ events in the lepton+jets channel. The cross-section is reported as a function of the hadronically decaying top quark transverse momentum for values ab.ve 300 GeV. The hadronically decaying top quark is reconstructed as an anti-kt jet with radius parameter R=1.0 and identified with jet sub.tructure techniques. The ob.erved yield is corrected for detector effects to ob.ain a cross-section at particle level in a fiducial region close to the event selection. A parton-level cross-section extrapolated to the full phase space is also reported for top quarks with transverse momentum ab.ve 300 GeV. The predictions of a majority of next-to-leading-order and leading-order matrix-element Monte Carlo generators are found to agree with the measured cross-sections.

A measurement of the correlations b.tween the polar angles of leptons from the decay of pair-produced t and t¯ quarks in the helicity b.sis is reported, using proton-proton collision data collected b. the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb.1 at a center-of-mass energy of s=7 TeV collected during 2011. Candidate events are selected in the dilepton topology with large missing transverse momentum and at least two jets. The angles θ1 and θ2 b.tween the charged leptons and the direction of motion of the parent quarks in the tt¯ rest frame are sensitive to the spin information, and the distrib.tion of cosθ1·cosθ2 is sensitive to the spin correlation b.tween the t and t¯ quarks. The distrib.tion is unfolded to parton level and compared to the next-to-leading order prediction. A good agreement is ob.erved.

This work proposes efficient data (cache b.ock) migration in Chip Multiprocessors (CMPs) realizing nonuniform cache architecture (NUCA). The scheme is developed around the modeling tool of cellular automata (CA) invented b. von Neumann in 1950's. A special class of periodic b.undary CA (Pb.A) has b.en introduced to analyze the distrib.tion of processor cores competing for a data b.ock. It performs density classification of the instances of requests generated b. different cores and then decides on the migration of requested b.ock among the L2 cache b.nks. The Pb.A correctly identifies the region populated with processors competing for the data b.ock and points to the direction of data migration. It effectively realizes the quick decision on data migration as well as ensures the most accurate decision.

Distrib.ted Denial of Service (DDoS) attack is one of the b.ggest threats now days. This paper aims at providing the simulation results of b.ffer size and attack intensities effects on various queuing algorithms such as Drop Tail, Fair Queuing (FQ), Stochastic Fair Queuing (SFQ), Deficit Round Rob.n (DRR) and Random Early Detection (RED) using ns-2 as a simulation environment. The results in this paper indicate that Stochastic Fair Queuing is the b.st algorithms in terms of providing maximum b.ndwidth to legitimate users against various attack intensities. It is also cleared from simulation results that there is no effect of variation in b.ffer size on queuing algorithms such as Fair Queuing, Stochastic Fair Queuing and Deficit Round Rob.n while DropTail and Random Early Detection algorithms are giving the b.st performance on b.ffer size 60 against various attack intensities. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
