The KM3NeT Collab.ration has tackled a common challenge faced b. the astroparticle physics community, namely adapting the experiment-specific simulation software to work with the CORSIKA air shower simulation output. The proposed solution is an extension of the open source code gSeaGen, which allows the transport of muons generated b. CORSIKA to a detector of any size at an arb.trary depth. The gSeaGen code was not only extended in terms of functionality b.t also underwent a thorough redesign of the muon propagation routine, resulting in a more accurate and efficient simulation. This paper presents the capab.lities of the new gSeaGen code as well as prospects for further developments. Solution method: The readout of CORSIKA simulation was adapted from the b.se script provided together with CORSIKA and implemented as a standalone flux driver in gSeaGen. A search for the rare η→μ+μ−μ+μ− doub.e-Dalitz decay is performed using a sample of proton-proton collisions, collected b. the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC with high-rate muon triggers during 2017 and 2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 101 fb.1. A signal having a statistical significance well in excess of 5 standard deviations is ob.erved. Using the η→μ+μ− decay as normalization, the b.anching fraction b.η→μ+μ−μ+μ−)=[5.0±0.8(stat)±0.7(syst)±0.7(b.μ)]×10−9 is measured, where the last term is the uncertainty in the normalization channel b.anching fraction. This work achieves an improved precision of over 5 orders of magnitude compared to previous results, leading to the first measurement of this b.anching fraction, which is found to agree with theoretical predictions.

Echinocandin b.is a potent antifungal against the majority of fungal pathogens and its b.osynthesis occurred b. ecd and hty gene clusters in Emericella rugulosa NRRL 11440. We elucidated the functional necessity of in-clustered transcription factor;ecdb.in the production of echinocandin b. We deleted the ecdb.gene and found that Δecdb.mutant has no significant effect on echinocandin b.production. The expression level of most of the ecd and hty cluster genes was not significantly altered except few of them up-regulated in knockout strain. The complete ab.ogation in ecdb.gene expression was ob.erved in Δecdb.strain. However, the interactions of purified Ecdb.protein with DNA sequence of ecdA, ecdH, ecdK and ecdI promoter was confirmed in-vitro. Our results conclude that Ecdb.protein in-vitro b.nds to the ecdA, ecdH, ecdK and ecdI promoter b.t in-vivo, it could not significantly affect the gene expression and echinocandin b.production in Emericella rugulosa. © 2018

Video streaming over HTTP through 4G wireless network used for multimedia applications faces many challenges due to fluctuations in network conditions. The existing HTTP Adaptive Streaming (HAS) techniques b.sed on prediction of b.ffer state or link b.ndwidth offer solution to some extent, b.t if the link condition deteriorates, the adaptation process may reduce the streaming b.t rate b.low an acceptab.e quality level. In this paper, we propose a machine learning b.sed method, State Action Reward State Action (SARSA) b.sed Quality Adaptation algorithm using Softmax Policy (Sb.A-SP), which identifies the current state (Throughput), action (Streaming quality) and reward (current video quality) at client to determine the future state and action of the system. The ITU-T G.1070 recommendation (parametric) modelis emb.dded in the Sb.A-SP to implement adaptation process. The proposed system was implemented on the top of HTTP in a typical internet environment using 4G wireless network and the streaming quality is analyzed using several full reference video metrics. The test results outperformed the existing Q-Learning b.sed video quality adaptation (Qb.A) algorithm. For instance, an improvement of 5% in average PSNR and 2 % increase in average SSIM index over the Qb.A approach was ob.erved for the live stream.

KM3NeT/ORCA is an underwater neutrino telescope under construction in the Mediterranean Sea. Its primary scientific goal is to measure the atmospheric neutrino oscillation parameters and to determine the neutrino mass ordering. ORCA can constrain the oscillation parameters (formula presented) and θ23 b. reconstructing the arrival direction and energy of multi-GeV neutrinos crossing the Earth. Searches for deviations from the Standard Model of particle physics in the forward scattering of neutrinos inside Earth matter, produced b. Non-Standard Interactions, can b. conducted b. investigating distortions of the standard oscillation pattern of neutrinos of all flavours. This work reports on the results of the search for non-standard neutrino interactions using the first six detection units of ORCA and 433 kton-years of exposure. No significant deviation from standard interactions was found in a sample of 5828 events reconstructed in the 1 GeV−1 TeV energy range. The flavour structure of the non-standard coupling was constrained at 90% confidence level to b. |Εµτ| ≤ 5.4×10−3, |Εeτ| ≤ 7.4 × 10−2, |Εeµ| ≤ 5.6 × 10−2 and −0.015 ≤ Εττ − Εµµ ≤ 0.017. The results are comparab.e to the current most stringent limits placed on the parameters b. other experiments. © 2024, CC b..

Indirect dark matter detection methods are used to ob.erve the products of dark matter annihilations or decays originating from astrophysical ob.ects where large amounts of dark matter are thought to accumulate. With neutrino telescopes, an excess of neutrinos is searched for in nearb. dark matter reservoirs, such as the Sun and the Galactic Centre, which could potentially produce a sizeab.e flux of Standard Model particles. The KM3NeT infrastructure, currently under construction, comprises the ARCA and ORCA undersea Čerenkov neutrino detectors located at two different sites in the Mediterranean Sea, offshore of Italy and France, respectively. The two detector configurations are optimised for the detection of neutrinos of different energies, enab.ing the search for dark matter particles with masses ranging from a few GeV/c2 to hundreds of TeV/c2. In this work, searches for dark matter annihilations in the Galactic Centre and the Sun with data samples taken with the first configurations of b.th detectors are presented. No significant excess over the expected b.ckground was found in either of the two analyses. Limits on the velocity-averaged self-annihilation cross section of dark matter particles are computed for five different primary annihilation channels in the Galactic Centre. For the Sun, limits on the spin-dependent and spin-independent scattering cross sections of dark matter with nucleons are given for three annihilation channels. © 2024, CC b..

Neutrinos describ.d as an open quantum system may interact with the environment which introduces stochastic perturb.tions to their quantum phase. This mechanism leads to a loss of coherence along the propagation of the neutrino − a phenomenon commonly referred to as decoherence − and ultimately, to a modification of the oscillation prob.b.lities. Fluctuations in space-time, as envisaged b. various theories of quantum gravity, are a potential candidate for a decoherence-inducing environment. Consequently, the search for decoherence provides a rare opportunity to investigate quantum gravitational effects which are usually b.yond the reach of current experiments. In this work, quantum decoherence effects are searched for in neutrino data collected b. the KM3NeT/ORCA detector from January 2020 to Novemb.r 2021. The analysis focuses on atmospheric neutrinos within the energy range of a few GeV to 100 GeV. Adopting the open quantum system framework, decoherence is describ.d in a phenomenological manner with the strength of the effect given b. the parameters Γ21 and Γ31. Following previous studies, a dependence of the type Γij ∝ (E/E0)n on the neutrino energy is assumed and the cases n = −2, −1 are explored. No significant deviation with respect to the standard oscillation hypothesis is ob.erved. Therefore, 90 % CL upper limits are estimated as Γ21 −21 GeV and Γ31 −21 GeV for n = −2 and Γ21 −22 GeV and Γ31 −22 GeV for n = −1, respectively. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

A search is presented for charged, long-lived supersymmetric particles in final states with one or more disappearing tracks. The search is b.sed on data from proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the CERN LHC b.tween 2016 and 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb.1. The search is performed over final states characterized b. varying numb.rs of jets, b.tagged jets, electrons, and muons. The length of signal-candidate tracks in the plane perpendicular to the b.am axis is used to characterize the lifetimes of wino- and Higgsino-like charginos produced in the context of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. The dE/dx energy loss of signal-candidate tracks is used to increase the sensitivity to charginos with a large mass and thus a small Lorentz b.ost. The ob.erved results are found to b. statistically consistent with the b.ckground-only hypothesis. Limits on the pair-production cross section of gluinos and squarks are presented in the framework of simplified models of supersymmetric particle production and decay, and for electroweakino production b.sed on models of wino and Higgsino dark matter. The limits presented are the most stringent to date for scenarios with light third-generation squarks and a wino- or Higgsino-like dark matter candidate capab.e of explaining the ob.erved dark matter relic density.
